With all this talk of Meracydia, but then in the story right now we're being nudged to the New World?
I'm confused as heck where this game is going.
I suppose Asura was another clue to that...unless are they planning to shove both continents?

We still dont know
We won't know until 6.5 (possibly 6.55, depending on how the Zeromus plot wraps up), or when the trailer for 7.0 drops. Whichever comes first.
Personally I'd rather see the New World just for a break from the First Brood.
whever it goes i just hope it doesnt lead to the 13th i really dont want an entire expansion taking place in the void
I feel like a clean cut could do really well for the game, a world only we go to and for some reason arent instantly "the strongest", staying in our world is kinda always going to have the effect that no new characters will be added and we will always be "the superhero". The idea of constantly upping yourself becomes really difficult when you have fought god like beings at the edge of the universe saving your world.
Could do with a new cast of characters as well imo, give new ppl a chance.
The hint of where we are going is usually in the patches of the previous expansion.
In Shadowbringers... well, that's up for debate as it could affect what 7.0 will be. Some people here have been speculating...
- In ARR's patches, we met some Doman refugees. In Stormblood, we went to Doma.
- In Heavensward's patches, we met the Warriors of Darkness. In Shadowbringers, we went to their home and became the Warrior of Darkness.
- In Stormblood's patches, we had a lot of teases of visiting Garlemald (at a certain point, Alphinaud traveling there made it seem so certain). In Endwalker, we visited Garlemald, although probably not in the planned circumstances (a war) because that plan was changed.
Dalmasca, heavily featured in Shadowbringers side content, despite that we have been to most of the locations in the alliance raids and gangos/bozja/zadnor.
If that is so, the teases in Endwalker's patches may be saving Azdaja so that it leads us into Meracydia in 8.0 because of something Azdaja remembers about it.
i just wish we could explore the whole map and all zones in the lore...
it's kinda bothersome to play on an "unfinished map".
Welcome to Final Fantasy (or old school JRPGs in general).
Where maps were mostly unexplored and the zones you could access were just a small part of a larger whole. Even FFXI is like this (only like a third of Vana'diel is explorable and that game has been running for over twenty years.).
Would be nice. But, they would need to give life to the whole continent for that. And, it could reduce the option of future places for them. At last are whe knowing, that there are some places, whe ddidnt saw yet. Better, as with Mist of pandemia (or how it was spelled in WoW
) where a big island showed up out of nowhere.
Persönally, i would like a clean cut to. Thje job of the sions are finished and all of them are doing new things now (at last to the end of 6.0).
It would be a good opportunity, to give us a fresh restart (maybe similary start to ARR) and new partner. And let the sion showing up as special guest later. It didnt need to be allways a world destroying event now (shb was about, to save a whole world, ew to save the universe, and now, 6.5 to safe the multiverse^^).
I dont know, where whe will going next. The new world and the Land of Bahamut are both interessting.
I only think, that the scenario will probally be, that Zeromus will destroy the walls between the worlds (or at last damaging it), what can lead to invasion (or similary thing) from the other shards. Maybe similary to the end of Digimon Season 1, where at the digital world was to be seen in the sky. O spider-men No way home.
It could be a oppurtionity, to rejoin with the other shards of or soul, to rise in power (or, let the next enemy one of our other egos, who want to collect "his" missing peaces^^).
TBH, while I get that meracydia fits so many boxes, specially if they are for some reason now going to try to fish out the rest of the brood for help..,
I agree with those to a degree on where we need a clean break, maybe the "New World"
<we will likely get new information after the next part of .4 if any of the side content nudges anything else. and without a doubt at .5 If fanfest doesn't beat anyone to it.>
I'd even like if we prepare for some unknown journey to a shard, and get split of and sent alone. it would be a change.
Yet seeing the whole unknown letter with gold markings, and maroon/brown coloring.<can't remember it well>
It's likely somewhere that is used to getting expeditions. Which points to the New World that had expeditions, or a new Scouting for some other landmass<may not even be Eitherys.> but the fact it could be meracydia, cannot be discounted.
<Though I doubt if it was meracydia, the envelopes conspicuous design was just to get attention, than a hint.>
Since meracydia has had limited interaction due to its stated nature.
[Though if the letters design did matter, from someone who isn't a lore mind palace, it'd make me think the Golden Cities.]
Ngl, Garlemald was kind of a let down, so I'm gonna just keep my expectations low from here on out.
