Just make "ZoomHack" view standard.

As title suggests.
World firsters caught multiple times using it proves even the "hardcore" need this ability.
Us casual and midcore being held back because we dont use the hacks. Like take even just an EX fight - Mount Ordeals, it is literally INPOSSIBLE to see the arena floor and the symbols on the outside at the same time while playing on a standard resolution/aspect ratio.
Devs just need increase the distance we can zoom out and we would be back on a level playing field.

I really don't like the approach of "make cheating legal so everyone is on the same level".

But I have to agree that with the giant hitboxes and increased size of party buffs and bubbles - the camera is now relateviley less zoomed out than it was a few expansions ago.

But that would also just start an arms race to make everything bigger again until you can barely see you character anymore...

Best would be to scale everything back to a reasonable size.

They didn't use it, Shori, its part of one of the mechanics. It literally does that to you in game, which you can tell if you paid attention to the boss size and the size of the waymarkers.
It's the game doing that, not any third party tools. Essentially, the dev team was poking fun at the drama from TOP in this fight.

The boss shrinks your party, pulls the camera back and forces you to do mechanics zoomed out, it's by design and it happens periodically throughout the fight.

No it is not necessary for clearing content. What they used it for is birdseye view shotcalling (aka moon POV) with a 9th or 10th player in call, the latter being not an issue but benefitting massively from the former.

Using Mount Ordealis EX as an example is poor imo. Even large size bosses such as Brute Justice dont even remotely need it. If you need more vision, move or turn your damn camera.

Let's NOT normalise highly frowned-upon 3rd party tools such as zoom hack as features because the top echelon of raiders insist having an arms race abiut it. If you give us that, what will be next to be demanded as a feature? Where will we draw the line in the sand?

Needed? Nope, advantageous, yes. The two are not the same. People, especially on a competitive level will use them just because they can and it has an advantage, not because they need to.

You can just buy an ultra wide monitor and legally cheat since it gives you insane FoV

I've got a 34" wqhd Monitor. I See everything :D i'm afraid of the zoomhack mechanic in the second Phase auf P12s because everything will be so tiny xD

I would be fine with a zoom increase to be honest, something like more 20% would be a game changer.

This is the correct response. I've wanted this since I've started the game. Twelve does the current zoom not feel enough at times.

If you can't live with the difficulty, find a game where you can live with the difficulty.

The amount of zoom out we have currently is awful. I'm not sure if we need to go zoom hack, but the current levels are super bad. Especially in dungeons.

The thing is people want more more more... instead of adapting to the situation, if anything less of a view would be welcome so you need to spend much more timethan now to make orientations.

Disagree but a freecam and free zoom mode in /gpose or really just anything outside of Extreme/raids (Criterion, 8-man, 48-man etc.)/Ultimates/deep dungeon should be implemented.

While we're at it, just make a SE token that you can exchange for gil since people buy gil anyway.

I just want to see the maximum distance increased slightly or the game's target-acquisition adjusted slightly because the game bases whether you can tab to a target on whether its nameplate is visible.

That shit means you literally can't even tab to the boss in front of you after having healed someone if the boss's nameplate is too high/close to be seen on an ultrawide monitor...

Even just aesthetically speaking, though, a tad bit more distance would go a long way towards slightly reducing apparent visual clutter without becoming un-immersive or trivializing any mechanics.

I would rather see them somehow make it so normal monitors get the same FoV as ultrawide monitors. The advantage is ridiculous and those players aren't cheating.

Been a while since I've played on a regular monitor, but I could have sworn the vertical FoV was higher before I made my switch over to ultrawide, even if I did of course gain some horizontal FoV...? Which... seems fair. If you had the same horizontal FoV as an ultrawide, you'd have hugely more vertical FoV, and if an ultrawide had the same vertical FoV, that'd mean they'd have hugely more horizontal FoV.

Would simply test rn, but swapping down to 16:9 aspect ratios just crashes the game for me.

I'm pretty sure it's the same vertically. The game doesn't really change your fov, it just... Displays extra pixels lol.



Changing the camera angle helps quite a bit for adjusting how much you can see though. (the setting, not like, how you point your camera)

I am not sure if it's higher vertical cuz I never played on ultrawide and the increased horizontal is more dramatic than increased vertical so that is what I focused on. I suppose you are right, but then they need to change something - either zoom or natural FoV - because being on a normal monitor is a disadvantage with the way fights are designed.

For example, I can't see all the dragons in Grand Octet (and therefore the safe spot) without spinning the camera like crazy while my ultrawide gamers know immediately where to go. TOPs Run: Sigma towers and Exaflares are significantly easier to locate with ultrawide. DSR's DotH Eyes. Basically anything that has outside of the arena tells or requires you to see the whole arena to solve.

Especially with the growing creep of visual effects even when turned to Limited, it is becoming harder to see things in general.

Ahh, kk. I just remember suddenly being able to tab to certain bosses up close when I first made the swap to ultrawide, so assumed ultrawide not only added to horizontal FoV, but also lost some vertical FoV.

Either way, yeah, I agree it should be backed out a little. If 16:9 already has only the same vertical FoV as ultrawide, then it should be able to back out even further (to about halfway between where it's vertical FoV matches ultrawide's and its horizontal FoV matches ultrawide's, thereby having more vertical FoV but slightly less horizontal FoV).

I wouldn't mind a bit of a boost in how far you can scroll back

Deal with it and point the camera angle during the content that you do and adjust within the range possible.... all you seem to say you know there is a mousetrap and you keep on stepping into it.

ngl i don't have any issues with seeing things as described, i just like... move my camera around a little. i can't really think of a time where i felt like i needed Moon View or an ultrawide just to play in any content.

though, i don't really think moon view would be a good selling point since it'd make the game look like dogshit.

all i want is better colorblind options, they use too much purple + blue + gray together :/

I hope they do the "pull camera back" more in the future for mechanics, would be crazy fun in dungeons to have a boss "rip your sight" from you, forcing you to look down from above and move with a bird's eye view.

First time I played this game it bothered me I couldnt zoom out much at all, I think devs tend to avoid doing things like this so the game doesnt look unprofessional since if you zoom out more things will start looking out of proportion since everything is designed with the current view in mind... Wish the devs were a bit more humble.

To be fair, I remember in WoW years ago (BC or Wrath, I guess) when a friend showed me add-ons (which are allowed in that game), the first thing that I found that actually was like "Wow...yes, I want this now" was when he showed me being able to zoom out 100 m or so (the normal max range was 40 m) and how you could actually see fights, especially doing Battleground PvP, and it was just neat to be able to zoom that far when doing things like walking across one of the desert zones at night.

I've always felt that the native zoom is not QUITE far enough, and I even play a Lala so my character obstructs as little as possible. I'd like another 50-100% more zoom. If the max zoom is something like 50 yalms, it'd be nice to have 75 or 100 as an option.

My bigger problem is when they put stuff outside of the arena (Zodiark glyphs or Golbez's wind clones) and it can be hard to see them because of the size of the boss or the angle of the camera if you're looking down from a 3/4 angle view. Sure, you could flatten your camera more horizontal to the ground, but then you can't see all the GROUND markers the game throws out like candy. There's really no harm in just allowing a longer range zoom.

And I say this as a person that has never used an add-on in FFXIV, and only used the two "essential" ones in WoW (as in, the ones people required or they wouldn't let you join raid teams; Deadly Boss Mods and then some kind of alternate raid frame - I used Pearl, I believe it was - due to the base UI being hot garbage. Like, "HP bars didn't show percents nor numerical values, just a bar at a various level of full/empty" level of hot garbage...) I think the 10,000 y moon PoV is stupid, but 75-100y? I think that'd be acceptable.

The only way I could see which sword side was the hot or cold, or how many (1 or 2) stacks of an element she was using, was to basically walk right up to her, then point the camera straight down. And as someone else said, as a Healer, if you target party members (or worse, other alliance members in 24 mans, like say raising one of the Healers in another team that's lost all of theirs), it can sometimes be hard to retarget the boss since the game has to be able to see the health/name bar over their head or something to target them, and if they're too tall for that to be in the camera, you just...don't target them, even if you untarget the ally and use a damage spell that SHOULD autotarget the boss (it will give you the "invalid target" message since it's defaulting to targing you for a self-cast since it has no hostiles to target). This actually happens a lot in Hunt trains, too, and I've missed credit before because I landed too near the boss and the only thing my game would target would be random, much smaller NPCs in the area as the boss melted from the 350 people instantly vaporizing it before I could get far enough away to actually target it.

Yes, a bit more zoom IS called for, I think.

You can set up keybinds to scroll through the enemy/enmity list. Being able to see the boss's nameplate is necessary only if you haven't generated any enmity, i.e., only at the start of a fight. (I don't know about controller setups.)

It would be cool if we could zoom out more since I generally have the camera angled like... up and looking down at an angle. Lot of recent bosses aren't really viewable like that. Annoyed that I have to switch to a low angle for like, euphro 4 or panda 12. But also not a new problem, had to do the same shit for shiva's ice circles back in the day.
