Visual noise in battle content

I've taken a break from the game for various content related reasons, and when coming back to play through 6.4 content the amount of visual noise in encounters designed is very apparent, specifically 'The Twelfth Circle'.

Mechanically the battle isn't difficult but to actually see tells through spell effects combined with those of the boss frankly just make my eyes sore. This isn't good design, and has been a mounting problem that finally has reached a point where it has become a negative experience.

....and yes, I have had other players spell effects turned off for years. This shouldn't be a requirement to actually see the battle in the first place.

I will say that a couple battles like 12th and Nophica have so much visual clutter I ask myself "Is this really necessary?"

This is especially a problem in PvP.
"What killed me? I couldn't see anything under the 50 player particle effects. I will turn these off in order to be able to see the fight and coordinate myself properly."
"What killed me? I couldn't see anything because I turned off player particle effects in order to not be flashbanged, and now all projectiles and enemy attacks are invisible."

I've heard nothing but bad things about the visual noise in P12.

I think my only bad experience has been back when I tried Eden's Verse (Savage), and I wouldn't say it was noise, maybe unnecessary, but from an accessibility standpoint (and I don't mean difficulty, as it was fine in that department) - It's like they've had occasions where they've decided to learn about what would be good practice or what would be considered good practice and just veered in the complete opposite direction.

Can't say I've really cared about raids at all since then - If I do them it's because I have nothing better to do.

You say it's hard to see the tells through player spells effects, but also that you have player spell effects turned off. So which is it? I find it very hard to believe that only your spell effects are completely obfuscating the entire arena at all times.

I only turn player effects to the reduced option during raids and it's not a problem at all even as a melee. What specific spells are causing the issue people are describing?

I think the saving grace in P12 is that the mechs give you enough time to react before they go off so you can still scoot out of the way. It doesn't bother me too much (it may be worse for non-tanks) but I can definitely see where there is more visual noise even from my perspective usually as MT.

I cringe when I see multiple summoners in a party, especially if I'm on a melee job, because I know I'm gonna be leaving the fight with sore eyes.

Literally stated I have been doing that for years in the OP

there wouldnt be much left if they remove visuals though


it certainly is kinda stressful to look at.. especially after a work day or some other exausting day

That suggestion was to Mollusk.

The recent changes that made Asylum, Sacred Soil and Collective Unconscious gigantic didn't exactly help with visual clutter, even if you set the effects to limited.

I haven't had much visual clutter with them. Earthly Star, however...

Omega 11 where you charge the thing in the middle is too flashy for me. It's legit the only mechanic in the game where I look away from the screen. Honestly not sure how that ever got passed testing.
