Change Battle high to just lose a tier on death

I’m sure I’m not alone in my frustrations of getting battle high 100 in frontlines then suddenly getting ganked by a pre-made, 1 shot by a SAM you couldn’t see or even just unluckily insta killed by a chainsaw and losing 50 points off my battle high. This drops you from BH 5 to BH 2!

I get that battle high is a mechanic meant to reward good play, but when there are mechanics that get you killed through no fault of your own other than you got the unlucky 2% chance to die… it feels kind of unfair to get penalised so heavily.

So my suggestion is just to make it so that when you die you simply drop to the previous tier of battle high. So with 100 battle high you’d drop to 80, this would be far less punishing for people who get the unlucky deaths while people who die repeatedly would still lose battle high quickly.

Yeah, no. People who die repeatedly don't get to BH5 in the first place anyway.

I think it's fine the way it is; if they want to lower the risk, they should also lower the reward.

They should probably revise instant kill mechanics in Frontline, which is an issue in of itself. Think in an environment where everyone else plays by the rules of damage reduction, they should be reprogrammed to do the same (but still ignore Guard).

Only if they make it so you lose 20% of your dr per bh rank, losing only 1 rank of bh otherwise is just a massive buff to drk/drg mostly.

Or just remove bh and be done with the whole snowball mechanic.

The penalty is fine. Players fighting against BH5 are already at a disadvantage; often the only way to defeat a team full of BH players is with a successful pinch, and taking out 50% of their BH should be the 'reward' for successfully pulling this off.

Your suggestion would make it impossible and almost pointless to try and fight against the dominant team since it guarantees they will stay dominant throughout the entire game.

Battle high probably would be better off getting nerfed, not buffed.

Honestly, battle high should either be outright deleted or replace with a similar mechanic that awards buffs based off of death until they achieve a kill. (Honestly not sure with the second option since range can easily abuse that with the current system)

Should be a consideration since things are getting easier overall.

Honestly BH should be a catch up mechanic depending on the gap between third place and second place is.

How dare you try to make a sensible suggestion for the win harder mechanic.

Getting BH to 100 is an earned privelege which can be quickly revoked. It's not that hard to get your BH back up to V again unless your team is literal scattered garbage. I'd rather they change BH to reduce your HP and damage reduction in exchange for higher potency.

I'm of the opinion that BH's damage increase should come paired with a damage taken increase. A Risk/Reward thing. The team that rolls people should be made easier for people to kill.

See someone with BH5? They are a target to be focused down. On a kill streak? You are squishier, so avoid risky plays to stay alive and keep your buff.

But this all works better in game modes that aren't overtly objective based like Frontlines aspire to be. Maybe if we ever get a map that doesn't have 'nodes' or capture points - and instead relied only on kills/deaths to tally points.

The battle high lost is good enough. That just means if your crying about it you are bad at decision making in pvp. You need to judge if its smart to engage or not. Choosing not to and dying is a result of you inept ability to gauge the combat field and judge what worth going in for. Those who maintain there battle high did good to judge the battle an act accordingly,
