There is no real update, SE is hardly saying anything on the matter :/
No ETA as of yet, but NTT and AT&T are aware.Quote:
Hello,
Unfortunately NTT does not have an ETA for the US peering congestion with AT&T. This issue has been escalated to the highest
technical levels within NTT to try to alleviate the congestion as much as possible, however the root of the issue cannot be fixed
without additional capacity. Our peering team is still in communications with AT&T with the hopes of increasing capacity, however,
due to NDA we are unable to disclose specifics.
Thank You,

Call me a cynical asshole, but when I read this - all I see is: "We're negotiating a new rate/deal with AT&T."
Its about money. They're inconveniencing AT&T customers specifically right now to try to broker better bargaining. Apparently they did this with Xfinity customers last year as well.
ok your a cynical asshole
Day 7 of issues for me as well
Playing on console with at&t so i'm especially screwed since i don't have easy vpn options
I don't think you're wrong at all. NTT keeps putting threads other places and saying things like AT&T won't pay for increased capacity and that it's a peering issue where AT&T won't pay for the equipment...
It's a pissing contest to see who is going to have to pay to update that Sacramento node, istg....
Hello fellow Warriors of Light!
I just spoke to AT&T (as recommended by Yoshi's team: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...6a07e92f6a0f29
Here was AT&T's response:

I have checked in over the network lines, and the team has indeed reported a know issue for which the case is being worked upon. To assist you best upon the issue being cleared over the backend server, I would also like to help open a dedicated port over your router as well, so that the game can indeed function smoothly over the intended device. Would that be okay with you?
For the tech savvy: Go to your modem's Firewall setup page in your browser, and open the port range: 2031-2032 with the base port at 2031.
Non-tech savvy: Go to https://www.att.com/support/internet/ and scroll to the bottom to chat with a rep or call 800-288-2020. Tell them about the issue with the lag while playing Final Fantasy XIV, and ask them to open the port range: 2031-2032 with the base port at 2031 on your router for you.

You should not do this. Opening any port on your router at home will do nothing to fix the bottleneck between ATT and NTT. Plus, the issue is observable using ping and tracert, which do not use ports (since they use ICMP which operates at the lower "network" layer of the OSI model). What's worse, opening ports on your router is a potential security risk.
Using a VPN with a specific node that will change the physical path between you and SE seems to be the only option until SE can convince ATT/NTT to fix their bottleneck
Been in contact with both AT&T and NTT about the issue.
For those looking for a workaround, 1.1.1.1 by Cloudflare really helped me out. Trying to spread the word for those who are still stuck with a bad connection
