lol I just was going to post this, This is an issue on Balmung right now too, and will continue to be...
Though instancing is nice sometimes, its also nice to not have EVERYTHING in the game instanced. A lot of MMOs nowadays seem more like Counter Strike or something, where "town" is more like a lobby where you wait for instance queues to pop and teleport you off.
This Just in Caravan's are the new Ul'dah! o.o
It's probably only 600-1k max per server but i get your point lol
Content like this needs to be instanced if there is a large influx of players.
Such as we're experiencing now.
All we're going to get is people spamming enter/botting.
Not allowing groups to take turns. Etc. Etc.
You can't do Open World Content successfully these days when people don't do fairplay.
2.0 wont have the issues we have now. another instance in the game. aint people tired of going in little timed worlds by now?
yeah you can SE need stop with the retarded limits and scale content. hell sega did it in PSO back in 2001 get 4 players and get 4 times the monsters even though thats instanced it still scaled.Quote:

SE should be able to have 1000 players in a open world and have a mass caravan swarm. the technology is there but are they gonna use it is the question.
Well it was just announced how much seals you need for the new stuff, it's going to be expected that all this stuff is going to be flooded with people.
Just be patient, it'll die down eventually.
It should also be mentioned that players are going to burn out incredibly fast on their quest for seals with the limited ways they can be earned.
Everything in this game seems to require so much repetition. =(
Well best of luck to those individuals if they can maintain the capacity to do such things for so long, all the power to them heh.
I figured I just need to do.... 70 1k seal caravans before I'm done with what I mainly want, and then the rest D:
Plenty of time though, no rush :)
== Drybone's Aery ==
Alright guys, window opens in 1 minute. Get ready!
I just say there should be a timed restriction on those who already finished a caravan run so that others can get it.
Example:
*Group of people in Drybone finish their run*
<You have to wait 15 minutes before you can escort again>
^This time limit should increase by +5 minutes (MAX WAIT TIME 30 MINUTES) if you spam the same area caravan
(Allowing the group to go to La Noscea and the Black Shroud Caravans in some sort of rotation while other groups can take turns.)
I don't mind instance, as long as it's more like leve and not throwing you into another instance altogether. It's nice to see multiple caravans along the way.
Also multiple tier of caravan, like Light Party, Full Party and Multi Party. The higher tier the better reward but also the stronger the mob, expect a Stronghold like boss in Multi Party tier for example, with respawning adds.
It is pretty funny, we go from Open World content that can handle up to 710 people (FFXI) to one that can barely hold a full party (FFXIV.)
Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. It'll settle down and in 2.0 on new clients and etc it should be less restrictive.
I kinda hope hamlet gets some changes in 2.0 for open world like campaign in FFXI.
More Open world content.
and after that even more open world content.
I think even the af stuff should be open world hit a ??? boss mob pops rather than having to enter a damn instance all of the time.
Instanced stuff is fine and all but there's a great big world map and it's nearly all wasted. I would say some areas go weeks without a single person passing through and when one eventually does he gets the aetheryte, disapears and never ever returns. get some open world content in there. decent nms campaign/ besieged style fights, sky, sea, etc
....or you could wait a few days and watch the number of people swarming caravan to be next to nothing.
Farming seals ahead of time pays off. Not releasing the new GC stuff in 1.22b was SE's hint for us to farm seals. I can see how its frustrating (feels like behest when it first became popular). Just like others have said just do something else for a few days and caravans will die down.
this been happen in Behest long time ago, SE should just copy new Behest entry method into this : 2 mins late to enter if u complete previous Behest/Escort.
Back to toto-rak :3
You think when 2.0 comes along we'll get 24 man 8+8+8 party alliance to do caravan too?
If they do that they better scale the difficulty and reward accordingly I say.
I bet those people who were trying to say folks who ran the last caravan have an automatically reserved spot in the next run are fuming now. lol
I hate to say it, but I told you so. Caravan escorts are first come, first served.
Didn't SE say almost everything can be done through Content Finder? Maybe caravan will be one of them.
It shouldn't matter.
They were bad before last night's patch. If you want to do these as a group of friends during prime time, good luck. All of them are constantly full now and I agree with the OP: 24 slots at any given time for a full server is silly. This is like the old behests all over again.Quote:

Also auto-group? Where is it? 2012 calling Square-Enix...
My simple solution to the problem...
1) Increase the number of participants to at least 24 per Caravan. Difficulty will scale as it does with Behest.
2) Increase the number of Hamlets around Eorzea that require Escorts (we could deliver them to the small encampment places like Red Rooster Stead or what ever)
3) Shorten length of time between current Escort so the party can begin to gather before the current escort is finished. Or like behest if you've recently signed up you have to wait until the last minute to sign up for the following escort to give those who have not signed up a chance.
4) Offer GC seals for completion of Behest, amount of mobs killed = Seals rewarded, amount of participants = amount of mobs. Perfect way to convince people to Behest again!
If none of that fits your fancy, go do Toto Rak!
(Honestly yea where the fudge is Auto pty Squeenix!!!)
As mentioned, multiple caravan instances per camp in the open world would be ideal.
In addition, and a bit of an aside from the complaint of the OP, I want to suggest that grinding a caravan for <15min and repeating is a bit boring. It would be nice if getting to a hamlet is the first checkpoint (sort of like old school racers like Outrun). When you reach the checkpoint the objective changes, and you have a new destination, survive through multiple checkpoints or keep going until failure. Each checkpoint could give a multiplier (but of course have more difficult mobs). By the end of a 2 or 3 hour run you could have racked up a lot of seals, and be at the other end of the region map.
