Hypothetical weapons for a new healer

This is again another lighthearted idea i thought id post so dont expect a super micro analysis, but i was just thinking. If a new healer did get added what would be some cool weapons they could use, so far we have cards, staffs,wands, books and, tiny floating lasers XD.

It'll likely be a while before we see another healer... roughly around 5 or 7 years is most likely depending on whether or not 7.0 is tank/DPS or scouting/casting. This is only speculation, though, as it's entirely possible that the current rhythm we've experienced thus far will change in regards to new jobs.

That said, there are a couple 'hot topic' healers: Apothecary/Chemist and Geomancer. GEO would use a bell, of course, but for APO/CHM... I imagine they could use something like an aetherical arm cannon of sorts, something where the user can insert concoctions that fire aether in clouds of healing or hazardous effects.

It may be as likely to expect something entirely unique instead. My favorite job/class concept I've ever seen is the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 "Tactician" (The man controlling the paper birds) which also reflects interpretations of the "Onmyoji" class/job in games that have used it. Typically it would use paper talismans. It's very lightly referenced in FFXIV, and I more suspect it to be a caster DPS, possibly even something we see soon, but it's a healer in Xenoblade 3, and is generally treated as a support job in other media. It has access to healing staves in Fire Emblem Fates. It's also in Final Fantasy Tactics known as the Mystic in english, but it's called "Onmyoji" in Japanese.

Thinking outside the box, an idea that came to mind might be something like a "Dreamweaver" or "Dreamcatcher" type job that we can encounter when we explore the new world, a healer thematically linked to dreams and surrealism, perhaps with an instrument of some sort as their weapon and places allies an enemies in a state of waking slumber to damage their psyche or heal their soul.

Most still want a physical healer like Chemist for example. But Idk, they should rather rigid on their stance with healers have a magical fantasy. Yes SGE isn't magic magic but still uses aether as a main focus of casting.

A MCH like healer with a grenade launcher would be cool.

If they ever wanted to do a BRD like aesthetic, we have Songstress (X-II), but that would be too similar.

Geomancer with bell/hammer but I have a strong feeling that it'll be caster dps instead.

They were allegedly had a concept for an Onmyoji-like caster. They could do that or a shaman/priest type of healer with talismans being the weapon. Kind of like Kiriko from Overwatch (who is also a healer).

And since nature white mage is sorta dead. They could do a druid healer with totems and earth related spells.

I would totally be open to seeing a physical healer and a magical tank, but at this stage, I think the changes are virtually non-existent--not 0, but close enough. Back during HW, I was really hoping 4.0 would've brought Dancer as a melee, physical TP healer and Blue Mage as a magical tank, and later Geomancer as a magical tank during SB, and those were all somewhat popular desires on the forums back then. You'd add in two new gearsets to match those categories, something like an -of Rejuvenating and -of Warding for physical healers and magical tanks respectively, and you could further develop those categories in the future when more tanks and healers were added. But at this stage, it just doesn't seem likely. Even if they did add new gear categories that just were reskinned versions of other sets, and thus no additional work for character modelers, it would still add a significantly larger selection of items which would ultimately accelerate the weight on the server load over time.

That said, you could do something clever like give the job a trait that converts Mind into Dexterity, for example, for the "flavor" of a physical healer, but it might still not sit well with the developers to have a physical healer gathering mind or a magical tank gathering strength.

They could literally steals Alchemist from FFX-2 which often used to substitute White Mage due to how fast Alchemists can throw out support/healing items & not affected by Shell (affects spell output; damage & healing) & mana pool.

I would like to see a healer that used a giant paper fan. Maybe someone that worked with Paper as mentioned above for talismans and other kinds of empowered origami creations.

A healer that used masks like the Chinese art of Bian Lian would be neat too. The weapon could be an ornate mask worn during combat that swaps quickly with dancing flourishes for each oGCD used.

This might sound odd but a bird cage that was used to store aether and form it into various aetherial animals to do our bidding. It could release birds, butterflies, insects in general really, frogs, snakes, etc with each doing a specific GCD or oGCD before disappearing.

Some items off hand that come to mind I would want to see are an Umbrella, Magnifying Glass and Suit Case for an aether inspector, or a Cape/Flag (imagine sheathing your weapon and getting a different cape for each one).

Reminds me of an aesthetic I'd want to see in some way, well, the attack style (animals and stuff) does. But rather than aetherial, my thinking was of ink splatters, kinda like Okami style, with the weapon being a paintbrush. Not sure if it's a 'healer' thing, maybe more a caster, but yeh. I think 'artist' is a class in Lost Ark now and is considered a 'support', so it could work here as a healer with some effort put into design

which means it'd be a caster, because that takes less work

Syringe gun where you mix a vial and then load it into your attacks. DoT? That's part of the herbology or Chemist mixing. Sounds more like a healer with mudras. Instead of a cast time, you just mix your vials as prep work in oGCDs. Pretty cool to think about.

, except onmyouji at the moment uses a staff instead of a fan.

Onmyoji also appeared during a recent Heavensturn, and there are enemies in Yanxia that are referred to as "Onmyoji" that are reskinned summoners. If introduced as a job, this would naturally change, but since we do not have a new weapon type an animation, it makes sense that they'd just reuse existing options for the time being.
