So I been questing and doing the main quest in the Azem Stepps, I just want to so the zone is amazing super pretty and Im in love with Sabu along with many other characters located in the stepps. Almost so much in love with the zone that I'm tempted to fantasia over to Au'ra but ive heard the glamor stuff tends to get ruined by scales idk if it true or not.
But anyways just want to say I love the zone so fucking much. Its super amazing and highly enjoyable being in the zone it brings peace to my mind, but i do have one minor complaint.
Why the fuck can I not just live in the stepps for a home once i get the gil, its way better than any other zone.

as for the whole scales things, it just depends on what you feel it looks as personally.
<unless you've customized your retainers, or have no Retainer Fantasias..,>
Doing so on a Retainer could save you the Fanta Cost..,
Personally I don't think it looks terrible.
With Raen you got the blending of the scales with flesh<unless you go with contrasting skin> (not a raen main, so I can't tell more)
and then you got Xaela with their Dark/Black/Blue Scales that match well with almost<gotta remember to hold my opinion> anything.., when it comes to certain styles.
Some may look at them as Tatt(oo)s, or extra flair depending on the outfit. as it may add extra to a Glamour. Depending on exposure of scales on shoulder, neck, waist, arms, legs, etc.
And then there are The more rarer skin tones. -

I never had a glam that I felt was "ruined" by my scales, they are farly symmetrical and aesthetically-pleasing to me, and to an Au Ra it's quite literally the same as skin if a little sturdier, in fact I picked every option that I felt would givie me the most scales possible.

Au Ra main here, although my pic says otherwise. I will state this, the horns clip through everything. They don't get hidden. So I am not sure if that could be a deal breaker or not.

Tattoos can be kind of weird for sure.
As an au ra (with crabs horns) player, I’m about to get back to her because I found the face I like the most in game.
The scales on the body, as a quite pale raen, never bothered me, I quite like them actually ! -

I like this sort of input from a new and up-and-coming player. For many of us, we complete the MSQ in a zone and then the zone becomes flyover country. But it makes me nostalgic of all sorts of zones that we had to traverse on foot the first time. Always remember, it is Journey before Destination. We don't need to rush through content to be the first. At times, it can be far more rewarding to enjoy the journey.

A thought I had for our 'instanced housing' (it's not yet, but I dream)-- is that after we unlock a dock in the Island we can visit areas for new resources and things to do. These areas naturally will be smaller than our Island (or at least usually), but you can choose to build new key buildings like a control center that can more easily manage multiple locations, or... your own personal home within the Island. So you could have the home in your Island, but if you unlocked the Azim Steppe region it might have two or three slots (rather than the like 10 on our own Island)- and one of those buildings if you so choose could make it essentially your home.
Now add Azim Steppe, Amaruot, Thanalan Oasis, Sea of Clouds, etc. :)

The Azim Steppe isn't great for a permanent settlement. It's a region with many nomadic tribes, and you'd best be willing to protect your tribes land with your lives from other warring Xaelas. Does not make for a very peaceful quiet home ownership experience.
