you are not allowed to play the content for the rewards only, that goes against the philosophy and the competitive integrity of the content
You can do NMs. These are similar to fate bosses and they scale with the amount of players there. They are spawned by killing a certain mob a lot of times. There is a eureka tracker that says which enemy to kill and where to spawn it, along with any weather or time conditions.
Eureka is fun, but it's not for everyone. It depends what sort of person you are. Personally, I really enjoy it, even just kill grinding.
challenge log and get out, repeat next week
you're already years late, release fomo is gone, a few months is not gonna change anything
I'd be ok with kill grinding if the xp wasn't so terrible. Even with potions of harmony and the one buff from the sprite thingy, I just feel like what I am doing isn't worth the time invested. Like I do a whole set of logs and kill like 180 things, and I barely get two levels.
To be fair, I couldn't stand it when it came out. I should've done it then. This type of conent is antithetical to my perfered style of play. Now, on my server, it's dead. I have to hop to another datacenter, which I don't want to do so I can face the boring content alone with strangers who aren't the nicest. Or join some thousand people discord so I can be ignored when I ask for help.
There was a reason I quit 11.
Sorry, I've just tried to do this content so much over the years that it's depressing. I've wasted so much time on random discords with random people who couldn't be bothered to help.
I can’t stand Eureka. Just made it to Hydratos on alt and I called it. I’ve done every other single quest in Eorzea on the character but I’ve hit my limit with Eureka. On the other hand, I quite enjoy Bozja and you can use it to quickly level up.
I found Bozja to be more tolerable. Even then, the elitism of it all ruined it for me. I did Castrum, I think, and I was new to it, and I died. Nobody ressed me, and everyone ran ahead. I got really lost, and they kicked me. It kinda soured my opinion on doing Castrum again, and I never did. I have the quest for DR, but I am terrified to even try it.
Netflix? YouTube?
Pick WAR and just aoe everything to death without a care while you watch literally anything.
Not sure if your doing it already but weekly challenge logs is a good way to get good exp in there. Just do the challenge logs each week and you'll LVL over time.
I quit 11 pretty fast. I think I made it to 20ish around there. At first, I quit it outright, but all my friends were playing it at the time, and I'm like oil and water when it comes to 11 fans. They hate my guts because I'm just honest about the whole process. I stand by it, but if I hadn't played better mmos, I would've stuck with 11. It's because I had played better, mmos I could see how bad it was.
XP comes quite fast. Maybe other data centres are just better at spawning. The items just needed for a weapon upgrade are fairly easy. I breezed to the end. It didn't even seem to take that much time. Since you get the two easy exploit spots.
But worried content like this will lead everyone who needs it to funnel to one data centre. If that becomes the case they will have reevaluate travel and what it does to worlds.
Hate to be that person, but what WoW? Just checked WoW is way too late to be a pre 11 game. So Leaves EQ, DAOC, and UO were a lot of work and can't think of any else pre 11 games.
It's dead on mine. I tried going over to Crystal, but everyone kinda knows what they have to do, so my newbie questions I could tell were bothering people. I need a more kinda chill world group. One that's ok with me not knowing every single nuance about Eureka. It's so off-putting.
I played 11 on the xbox 360. So it was a lot of other games like Wow, GW1 and GW2 etc. Ones that aren't barely able to kill level 1 and wait for a minute to repeat the process. Again, had I been ignorant of mmos, I would've just played it, and honestly, I still would've complained because it sucked, but I would've played it way longer than I did.
Strange most instances people are quite helpful and casual talking. It isn't all jokes, but it isn't some sacred zone. I am not a Mr. Happy person he just feels off. But I did watch his zone videos and found an offline map I could have on second screen as you need the info. Also helps if you just wanted to do challenge log since maps have info for what to grab quick and leave. Hope it gets better for you.
It's all a matter of your own opinion. You'll find just as many or more people that will tell you that your "better MMO's" are hot garbage compared to FFXI. FFXI was an MMO that essentially penalized people for being stupid and/or lazy as those types of people would struggle to gain any progress. And penalized them further if they were also the type that refuse to ask questions or ask for help.
I can really only tell you what I experienced while doing it. I have a bad habit of purging my brain of useless information so whenever I take long breaks I forget most things so maybe they were offended by my easy to awnser questions, but I already have trouble learning new things because of my learning disabilities, but when people are jerks back to me it really doesn't help.
I play games to have fun. If it's not fun, I don't play them. If I wanted to play a game that penalized me, I would play a Soulslike game. At the end of the day, if what I'm doing isn't fun, I'm not going to keep doing it. In real life, I get paid for that, and it's called a job.
I have to some degree. A lot of it is harder for me because guides are just walls of text, and I get overwhelmed. I have to slowly learn stuff, but then when I do, I remember it for a really long time. I need someone to really help kinda guide me through Eureka. That's a tough ask. The majority of people aren't that selfless, and I'm not going to force someone to help me. I wish I was like everyone else, and I could just open that pdf up and knock it out, but I can't.
Hell, I didn't learn highend crafting until someone extended the olive branch and brought it down to my level. And now I help my FC mates with it.
I'm a lost cause. I know this, but this is me trying to learn.
It may not seem like it, but I genuinely need help.
I am personally fine with this pace and I was when I tried 11 before 14 released as well. It is trying to replicate the pace you might level long ago in a game like 11 and if you didn't like 11 either, it just proves that the content isn't really aimed at you.
However, there are ways to get around it as others have said and that includes the challenge log and NMs when other people are there to spawn and farm them.
There is some body gear you can buy on the market board or by exchanging an item from the market board with the NPC next to Eureka, which helps make you more powerful. You can use food and then try to locate an Elemental, which gives you an automatic heal and stats and experience for 1 hour.
Don't forget to use your magia board correctly. If you rotate the points to the same element as the enemy it increases defense, whereas if you rotate the points to the opposite element it increases damage dealt and you need to decide which is needed more in the moment. Sometimes you can get overwhelmed and need to go defense.
You can get two extra magia board points in Pyros and Hydatos respectively if you are willing to buy the necessary items from the market board (they are usually expensive). If you use these, you can always have some in defense while putting the rest offense, or the reverse.
Have you tried starting a PF specifically for learning Eureka zones? It may take some time to find people willing to join but, if you get interest, then at least you are entering with a group willing to guide (or who are in the same position. But, at least, then you can bounce questions off each other).
Just a bit of advice, drop the whole "I'm a lost cause" vibe. It really does you no favors and will likely just drive people away.
The magia board doesn't make sense to me at all. When I rotate it, nothing seems to move. So I don't even mess with it. Is there like a picture guide you could link me. I feel like what you're saying makes sense, but when I get in the game, it won't to me. Sorry.
How it works is you go to the magia board at base camp. Click all the open slots on a random element to put points as far as it will go.
Now what you do is you will see an enemy in the wild with an element next to it. That element is its type. If you click the magia board and rotate its element to the same as the enemy, you will not die as quickly. If you rotate its element to the opposite of that element (two elements left/anti-clockwise) then you will do more damage.
But careful, you can only rotate the magia board so many times. Once it clicks in place it uses up one of the charges and if you run out, you either have to let it recharge or refill it faster back at camp.

You eventually get 5 magia, but you obtain them over time from quests.
I mean, it's true, though. So I'm supposed to lie to random strangers? I'm not trying to start anything. I just don't understand this need to put me down. I'm level 38, and I legitimately never used that Magia board thing because I really didn't understand it the first time and gave up on it.
That has most likely affected your experience a lot then. The difference in damage dealt with and without magia points is massive. It's also a massive difference when you level up. It's not like outside Eureka where you update your gear and it barely makes a difference. It really is massive.
You do get the Echo now, which we didn't used to have, so that probably makes them die quicker, but they could die even quicker if you were using magia correctly.
lol, lmao even
in serious tho, learn to use the magia to your benefit, more damage means faster,
dont worry about making a relic, doesnt matter, just focus on completing the zone
once you get to hydatos. find whatever discord for your region, sign up for ba, and learn how to make the out rez ability so even if you muck it up you can be dragged through
no one can make u like something, but if you want that orb you gotta grit your teeth and learn to play poker when the dealer says its poker
I mean I'm not lying. You can be a jerk all you want, but at least I'm upfront about it.
What's lying to strangers go to do with anything? Just, if you join/start parties (or engaging with people) and you're all "I'm a lost cause", it can be wearing. The only one putting you down is you.
Not going to derail further. There's some good advice being given.
I'm not going to make a party anyway. Nobody ever joins them when I do make them. I'm not sitting there going woe is me. I contribute to the group the best I can. They don't explain stuff, I ask. They don't explain it, and I wing it. Again, I'm not twisting people's arms into being halfway decent human beings. I'm just frustrated by all of it. It seems impossible. Anyway, I'm done trying to understand this today. Too much is happening IRL at the moment anyway. Thanks to all that were helpful.
I dont find the content fun myself.. I only do the challenge log.
it takes me 40mins( AOE-Farm in the first zone)
Yep, it's boring. I finished the ARR relics I didn't have and only have 4 more animas to do so I've been looking more at Eureka. Also because of Triple Triad. And Pyros isn't horrible but it's not really that fun, either. I help a friend finish her challenge log (and end up doing mine too but I don't really care about mine as much) and then just leave it for the week unless I want to go in for relic stuff. I finally pushed my Pagos + 1 to Elemental last night after doing some light farming. There groups doing NMs but they assume everyone already knows where to find everything and how to get there and some will pull even when others say they're on the way. So I've been looking into how to solo farm light since that's at my pace.
It's really just not fun, though. I hated this place when it was populated and all I can say about it now is that it's faster with the Echo.
If you find Eureka leveling is so mind numbing, then do the weekly challenge logs for exp, then call it off. Rinse and repeat till max level.
I did the thing once and will never do it ever again. Bozja > Eureka mechanic-wise.
Honestly? If you don’t find it fun, then don’t do it. It’s one of those l”If you want the reward, then you better work for it or you get nothing.”-kind of content.
The odds are heavily stacked against you when even learning how Magia works is walling you. Not going to add anything more though, Jeeqbit has laid a good guide for you. Take your time trying to understand it & maybe ask around (friends? FC? random? Your call). If you want to go abit deeper, maybe they could evrn guide you on how to use abuse the Logos Actions, too. I cannot promise you it’ll be a fun process, that’s relative. But I do believe by understanding these you will be able to smoothen your experience in the content, solo and/or party, and I think that’s also an important part.
If all else fail, then use the challenge log and only go back in to earn levels slowly weekly.
There were few things I personally did to achieve that in the past:
• Eye for the Cassie prep groups, ideally 1-2 weathers before Blizzard weather sets in. Being in these pre-prepper groups yields you so much lights you’re usually guaranteed to overcap your kettles at least twice or thrice per session.
• A purely solo farm would be chaining or mass pulling mobs 2-3 levels above you. On bonus side, try to kill an undead/sprites on #20 or #30 chain to fish for 1 full bar of light bonus (this bonus part is anecdotal from my own experience, take it as a grain of salt). Mind you, this is very mind-numbing even with full elemental gears.
You can hit me up if you see me loitering in-game. If I’m able to at the moment, I’ll give you a hand. :)
Can confirm this. War's sustain in Eureka lets you downright solo NMs if you have enough time, lol. If you throw in Eureka potions (which the area gives you in spades) you can solo your way to max level. The biggest issues you will run across is soloing HNMs that drop items for your relic and BA.
Want the rewards harder
Travel back in time and play it when it was new and popular.
