Reclamation of Inactive Housing [Exterior Walls]

I recently lost a house to demolition and while I accept that it happened, as it's the rules, the house got demolition. As I was claiming my items from the resident caretaker, I noticed my 'Sukiya-zukuri Mansion Walls' was missing. I put in a ticket and they said they could do nothing. On my server these walls go for just over 4 million Gil, has anyone had any luck getting this stuff back or not?

Given that it costs 4 million, I would have assumed this type of thing would no longer happen. Personally like I said, I'm accepting of losing the house/plot, but 4 million for expensive walls too? ... I don't think this would happen in any other game barring this one.

They probably have it covered in the rules that some housing items can't be recovered, but then 4M isn't a ton of money so I wouldn't make a fuss about it and accept it.
If it's a bug, then fine.

In my demolition notice:

◆Items that cannot be retrieved
・Construction permits
・Indoor and outdoor furnishings that are destroyed upon removal
・Interior and exterior walls
・Gil spent to add rooms
・Unharvested crops
・Aetherial wheels currently charging
・Gil spent to add a company workshop
・Company crafting log/sky maps/plans/progress made for unlocking Exploratory Missions
・Airships owned by the free company

Sorry that you lost your house. We can only hope that changes come so no player need worry about demolition in the future.

The problem here is the price is player controlled and not controlled by SE. The walls do not cost close to 4 million to make even if you buy all materials from the marketboard and less if you gather some/all of the needed materials yourself.

Considering you have all your DoH/DoL leveled, if you're looking to get another house I'd suggest gathering all the materials yourself then asking your friends that are in FCs if their workshop has unlocked the skin. FCs on Materia that got their houses when housing opened ni April of last year should have it unlocked by now (the FC for one of my alts got their house at the same time and were able to unlock the schematics when they were added).

Oh, I'm perfectly fine with re-buying the house if the time comes, I'm more concerned with the backwards support this game has that see's someone lose 4 MILLION on in-game currency for an issue that could've been solved half a decade ago. It is SE's problem and I don't see how people put up with this stuff for years on end.

To be honest, you knew what you were in for. 45 day inactivity demo and some items would be unrecoverable if the house was demolished. Thy didnt hide that.

In 4.2 they added this: "Exterior and interior fixtures will no longer be lost when remodeling an estate." House skins used to be unrecoverable as soon as you used them, but since that patch you have been able to swap out an expensive house skin for a cheaper one and store it in your retainer for later use.

Exterior walls are not recoverable.

That only helps if your absence from the game is planned in advance so you have the opportunity to swap out the expensive skins for cheap fixtures before you stop playing.

It "only" helps... most people who take breaks. Who are absent from the game simply because they stopped playing. Lets not pretend month-long medical emergencies and house robberies are the norm.

I'm not pretending that.

Perhaps EU is different but NA players that own a house are very unlikely to take a long break "just because" if their house will end up getting demo'd. There's too much competition on most NA worlds to guarantee they'll be able to get another house after they return and even if they did get lucky that new house would also get demo'd when they take their next break.

Not to say that there aren't a few house owners that will do it regardless if they have the gil to waste but most will not. They'll keep their subscription active and log in once a month to reset the demolition timer just to make sure they don't lose their house. If they're able to do that then they have no reason to bother switching out their fixtures.
