Share your wildest job ideas

Mine would be named Trainer. He's an exclusive physical ranged dps job who uses a whip as a weapon (inspired on FFV's Beastmaster). He moves and dresses like a flamboyant circus entertainer (or a dominatrix, if you prefer). The whole point of the job is to damage monsters until they're weak so you can capture them and use them to capture other monsters (yes, I want to add Pokemon to FFXIV). Also, throw some World of Final Fantasy easter eggs here and there.

What about you? If you were to add a job to FFXIV, how would it be like? Seriously, Square needs to give us a job design contest.

I would love to see a geomancer in the same vein as the older games in the game.(i know realistically ited be impossible to balance but since were pretending) i like the idea of the terreign you stand on determining what attacks you can use, ited be cool to to make the attacks also modify based on weather it was day or night, so like in a snowy mountain during the day your geomancy ability could be like an ice bolder and at night a snow tornado. I think ited be a fun job to play but again impossible to balance in an mmo setting X3.

Well during the pax east panel Yoshi P did say a few final fantasy games will be influence to FFXIV. FFXI had geomancer sooooooo maybe. Just maybe.

Bard but with harps as the main weapon lol, and either support healer like AST or supportive caster dps like RDM.

FFX-2 Psychic. Weapon is the hi tech visors they wear. Idk if they’d count as ranged or caster lol.

Give me a phys. ranged job called Sniper, its main weapon is the rifle which should be distinct enough from the smaller fire arms of MCH. Give it a crouch stance that pins it in place, making its GCDs stronger. To combat its low mobility, give it the ability to roll/dash so it can immediately cancel the stance while moving at the same time.

I really want Mystic Knight. Will be the first melee with a raise ;)

Still the most interesting is Morpher, where you change into different monsters (like Vincent from FF VII.) You can run around in a beastly form, slashing things with your claws.

Other distinct styles still left on the table are Gambler, Templar, Runeseeker, Arithmetician. I'm not sure if Mime is viable, the job that copies abilities from other people during engagement.

Getting aggro management back for tanks. Now there is a wild idea. lol

Can't really think of something atm, but what ever they add should share gear with Ninja.

Onion Knight as a Limited Job.

Can only use Onion Knight Equipment and has low stats until reaching lv90, but is able to use any of the abilities you have unlocked from any other Job.

Weapon master, uses the weapons from all our current jobs and uses the removed attack animations we've lost

Jongleur as a healer.

Has no direct heals, but strong HoTs and can channel HP from one person to another one. So you take HP from your tank to heal a party member, or you take HP from all your party members at once and heal the tank.


Viking as a melee dps.

We really need more slow, hard hitting DDs, we only have BLM for that. Would have a two handed hammer and has a trait which reduces the GCD (like opposite Greased Lightning), but makes up for it with huge potencies.

An offensive healer whose base of healing is to drain HP from enemies to stock or immediately use it to heal party members, ground AoEs skills that inflict dots/other debuffs on enemies and give certain regen/party buffs to those who are inside of it and shields that cause attack/defense debuffs to enemies that break it (similar to what Eye for an Eye was).

A melee healer based on hot.

Core mechanism : you place hot on the target and then a small melee rotation keeps refreshing it. Resource builds each time you finish a dps rotation.

Example : 4 DPS skills rotation (easy rotation, no positional, just smash them one after another).

• DPS1, DPS + applies (4 seconds) or refreshes hot (+ 4 seconds) .
• DPS2, DPS + if chained, refreshes hot (+ 4 seconds) and damage buff
• DPS3, DPS + if chained, refreshes hot (+ 6 seconds) and gives one ressource and damage buff
• DPS4, applies 10sec dot and if chained add 20sec to dot (so it can be applied anytime when lost but only needs to be refreshed every 3 rotations)

gcd heal :

• direct solo heal (cast) in case of emergency (or for "pure healer")
• direct aoe heal (cast) in case of emergency (or for "pure healer")

ogcd heal :

• group hot (cd 30 sec, duration 10 sec),
• group shield (cd 60 sec),
• a heal trap (cd 60 sec)! let me explain : you place something (totem for instance) on the floor near whoever will need heal and when someone steps onto it, boooooom small radius heal. you can even put a small zone around it that mitigates damage. That's a usefull deported heal (like scholar fairy)

ressource use :

• direct aoe heal,
• powerfull single target hot with some damage reduction (use for TB),
• ranged attack (to get ride of ressource when needed or during melee off time).
• After every 3 ressources spent, you activate a skill that buffs your hot for 15 sec (needed if you want to keep up with hot without relaying on gcd)

ogcd utilities :

• combat sprint (like scholar) (duration 10 sec, cd 60 sec),
• melee DPS buff (cd 120 sec, standard raid buff),
• "increase hot potenty on nearby allies" (duration 15 sec, cd 90 sec) (this + ogcd aoe hot to recover from raid wide)
• "reduce damage done by enemy" (duration 10 sec, cd 30 sec) (idea is to use it in alternance with the "3 ressources use" buff)

DPS :

• 3 single target gcd (instant) (See above)
• dot (instant)(see above)
• player centered aoe gcd (cast) also applies and refresh hot on target to keep up with trashs in dungeon

Note :

• Weapon could be something like claws (like in the secret world)
• The idea is to have a "nervouse" healer, all timing are short and if you want to be efficiant, you'll need to hit those ogcd and ressources asap. If you're a "pure healer" you'll be able to keep up by spamming the direct gcd heal and ogcd heals but it will be painfull and hard.

Posted a while back, my fever dream job idea would be a scouting melee that uses a 1h laser-sword (lightsaber kinda thing) and a pistol. But, the 'weapon' slot for the job doesn't change the appearance of those (well, maybe it can, but it's not their 'weapon'). The 'weapon' for the class is a power source on a belt that I referred to as an 'Aethercore'. Taking a similar idea to what RPR has with their Enshroud window, the class would transform into a different form depending on the Aethercore used. Essentially, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Garo, whichever, as a class. The 'weapon glamour' wouldn't just be a sword or gun as with other classes, but the entire 'Henshin form' suit. This would never happen because it'd require making an entire body replacement, for each race, each time a new Aethercore is added as raid loot or such. But just the idea of a TEA themed Kamen Rider suit would be pretty cool. The alternative is to go more basic, make the Sword/Gun be the thing that is considered the weapon, and have the 'Henshin form' be a standardized form across the game, as with how everyone's Enshroud makes them look basically the same. Maybe a way to unlock /Henshinform as with /Egiglamour to get different forms. I know Yoshida's into Tokusatsu, the liveletter a couple of days ago he referred to one of the raid enemies looking like an Orphnoch (enemies from Kamen Rider Faiz), so I imagine if he heard the pitch and it was feasible, he'd be on board.

Give us this as our 15s burst window. Or, for a more relevant example (since Yoshida brought it up by name), this from Faiz is a canon 10sec 'burst window'. Give us a simple rotation of skills to use during it that have 0.5s or 1s CDs (so we are attacking with the same speed we do NIN mudras at) to capture the speed. RPR's fast, but it's not fast enough, we can go faster. Alternatively, beg Keita Amamiya to let FFXIV use Makai Knights as a class so we can have this, this works too.

Alright hear me out: a dual blade wielder (not like Ninja, more like Kirito) which have two different kinds of weaponskills: Astral weaponskills and Umbral weaponskills. These weaponskills have their own separate cooldown and you can weave one between the other, allowing you to attack super fast by using two combos simultaneously.

Here's an example of how these combos could function:

I'd like to see them add a true support class (serious buffs, debuffs, crowd control) . But, that is outside the trifecta that we have now and will simply not happen. They painted themselves into this corner back in ARR. It would probably require party makeups to become 5 large instead of 4. Tank, healer, support, DPS, DPS. That also would mean dungeons would have to change - make it so trash mobs would wipe the party without the support class buffs/debuffs/crowd control.

Won't happen. If someone wants that sort of setup - SE would tell them to play a different game.

Never gonna happen because of what a nightmare it'd be to design, but was thinking a while back they could spin a Job off of Advent Children Cloud and his ridiculous 6-in-1 greatsword! Maybe with a bit of Dissidia Firion thrown in, for good measure?

Honestly I could almost see this (or something like it) work as kind of a novel take on "Riskbreaker" (of Vagrant Story fame)? Someone who works alone, with the right tool for every scenario, something along those lines? Not... that I'd want it to be a Limited Job, mind. Would need a new name though since GNB's already claimed the -breaker suffix.

Gameplay-wise, I imagine its basic combo(s) would consist of going through every weapon in the process of assembling the thing? Maybe in varying orders (if not free-form?) that yield different benefits? Once assembled you get idk, stacks? and a big Omnislash that breaks it apart. Or something?

Ideally I'd like it if it were DPS (giving us a Greatsword DPS, sort of, at long last.....), but it could probably work as a Tank as well, I guess.

Old Class from the FF series but revamped. Something like this:
Mime:
Type of Class: New Unique Class Trapper [So: Caster, Ranged, Melee, Trapper]
Class: Trapper
Weapon: A floating mirror that summons various weapons from within
Skills:
Repertoire - Usable every four minutes, let's you reuse the last skill you used with copycat.
Poise - Usable every four minutes :: Consume a party members' buffs and apply them to yourself.
Addendum - Usable every three minutes :: Select one party member and one of their skills at random has its cooldown reset, can also use it on yourself.
Imitation - Usable every three minutes :: Take half of someone's highest stat as your own.
Null N' Field - Usable every two minutes :: Sets a field that those who gets hit while in this field does X damage in adjacent to the enemy, lasts 20 seconds. (Similar to vengeance)
Jinx - Usable two minutes :: When active, during 20 seconds of jinx any skill that would affect a person will not affect that person but still give you the effects if it had.
Copycat - Usable every minute :: Select one party member and this skill becomes one of their skills at random without restriction. Consumes the charge of that skill and sets that persons skill on cooldown.
Closure - Usable every minute. Allows you to set a bomb on the map that explodes and is AoE (similar to Astro skill)

1-2-3[4]:
1-Abash :: Smacks enemy for X potency with your hand.
2-Flash :: Dark magic skill that you need to be close to cast.
3-Dash :: Throws knives and teleports out.
[4] Stash :: If Jinxed :: Allows you to place a bomb on the enemy target.

Aoe:
1- Flail, teleports in and hits enemies with a giant hammer.
2 - Entail :: Dances around placing bombs everywhere.
3 - Final Nail :: Teleports out and a giant dark nail hits the enemies
4 - Light N' Ail :: If Jinxed :: Casts light magic that puts a damage over time on enemies (lower than most DoTs).

The rest filler skills.

Ones I'd love to see, but I don't know how reasonable they are to ask for, include:

Privateer
I'm still wondering how we don't have a pirate Job yet, considering Limsa Lominsa's lore and all the pirate characters and enemies we encounter.
Ever since Sastasha (Hard), I've wanted to play a Job that uses that same sword and gun dual wielding setup.
It'd also be awesome if the Job crystal and questline involved learning from pirate ghosts, and possibly unearthing treasure to stop curses or earn new abilities.
I'd dearly love to be able to get a Job like this.

Chemist
This Job could entirely be made to work with "Job fantasy" mechanics by copying how Mudra works for Ninja, to make Mix work. They get certain combo abilities, and different combos result in different effects like single or AoE heals, regen, cleanses, or single or multi target damage or DoTs and debuffs. It wouldn't need to be a limited job whatsoever. (And I want less "tricky to implement" jobs to be "Limited", and more to be normal Jobs you can use normally. ,_,)
I've been aching to get this Job as it's one of my favorites, especially after the tease in Shadowbringers. Please, SE... Make it a normal, non-limited Job. It can work.

Beastmaster
This Job... probably can't exist at all unless it's made as a Limited Job. Which... I can accept, if it means getting it. I'm not sure what weapons would best fit for it, but other people have brainstormed and theorized about that and the abilities for years, so they have that better there. It's probably the least likely to happen due to needing to be a Limited Job. I'd still love to be able to get it, though.

Mystic Knight
This is another one I'd be very interested in seeing, which other people have brainstormed and theorized about better than me. It could work as a new Tank Job, but who knows what SE could pick that'd work well if they did make it. (And I'd be interested to see, like how Gunbreaker was an awesome surprise!)

Geomancer
I'd love to see this, especially since the removal of "geomancy" abilities from Conjurer/White Mage made it more possible.

Engineer
One of my old concepts left behind along with Chemist when Gunbreaker made it in, it was a concept for a tank that uses Magitek Armor ala FF6 or Iron Man. The damage mitigation would be largely upped via a layer of bonus HP which gets hit first or with bleedthrough, with some of the Job abilities to repair the Magitek Armor/suit. It'd basically be a shield tank, like how Scholar and Sage are shield healers.
