The Sil'dihn Subterrane - The impossible queue.

When Sil'dihn launched i pushed it to the side, thinking i would just come back and complete the 16 paths during a content drought.

This week i have attempted to run this content every single day on Aether, without getting a single queue pop.

I refuse to go in solo, we are playing an MMO.

This is current expansion content.

At what point does this content get a revamp or at least be put into roulettes?

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if most people did the normal version to complete the book entries solo and only did the hard mode with groups. Reason being not having to deal with ppl choosing the path you dont want. Otherwise they likely did those in PF where they could at least organize it beforehand to do multiple runs. Given how little incentive there is to do it after getting all the entries and rewards it's not surprising ppl aren't doing it. It really didn't take long to get everything from it.

People got what they wanted out of it and stopped doing it. That's what happens when the reward structure sucks. I don't see those queues popping anytime soon. If you really want to do it, I suggest caving in and doing it solo or with a friend, I did it all with my partner. Don't really see them making a roulette for it either but who knows.

There's really no reason to even run it with a DF group. Way less of a hassle to run it solo or with friends.

It's how it feels right now.

Either do the content on launch or do it solo.

I never thought i'd see the day when an MMO pushes so much solo content that it may as well be a solo RPG.

The content is designed in a way that kind of discourages grouping with randoms too. Like even if they were to add a roulette for it, I don't see you ever getting the achievement for all the routes, people will do the fastest/easiest ones or idiots just press buttons and choose doors because they can.

The place is actually (surprisingly) faster solo than with a group. The enemies scale depending on job and party size, so it's actually not that difficult. I believe you can even change which ability you have for the place on while IN the place.

I got what I needed from this content by playing with a friend -- the difficulty adjusts itself with the number of people in the party, but with 2 people most problems can be dealt with.
I never bothered to do this with random strangers because without the duty roulette I doubt it would rarely go through just like the Bahamut raids.

Blame the lack of good rewards. There's simply zero reason to do the content. It isn't enjoyable enough to have replay value and the rewards are complete garbage. I don't know how they didn't foresee this becoming dead.

they should just put it in the expert and mentor roulettes, you can change your duty actions in the instance anyway

You'll probably have to put up a PF if queue isn't popping. Blame Square for giving us zero incentive to run this content again.

i remember looking at them the first time and feeling offended. There is no benefit running it unless you're a lore nerd like me

I prefer going it solo than with group, because it's slower with group...

I actually had no idea it was faster solo than in a party. I know enemies scale, but given previous instances of scalable enemies I expected it would still be faster with multiple people.

They really missed a trick with the rewards for this though. They could have tied Relic Armour to Variant/Criterion dungeons.
Variant drops coins that you use to buy Sil'dihn armour, Criterion drops items you use to give the armour a special effect like a Haste within Sil'dihn, which can then be used in Criterion Savage.
This would have made all modes relevant, Variant for glam, Criterion for Savage prep, and Savage because it's Savage.

Yes, requests for normal runs almost never show up for this, though I DID see one last weekend, first time in MONTHS that has happened. It filled too.

Honestly, unless you try at peak hours, it is a futile effort, and even then it is a crap shoot anyone will join it.
Because of the requirements for paths, soloing really is somewhat better, though some of the bosses can be hard if you are not a skilled player. So if you mess up and die, no one to raise you so it ends up taking longer.

And of course people will say the bosses are easy. No, not really, not if you are very casual and not too skilled at your job.

If you have friends, try to plead with them to go with you, at least to raise you on the boss fights till you get used to them.

when it first released it was the final step of bozja and you only needed to do it once
so people did it once on release and by month 1 it was impossible to find people doing it

so SE started adding rewards to it
first they added xp to it
when that didnt work and queues were still dead they added mettle to it
then when it didn't work they doubled the coin rewards
when that still didnt work they said "fuck you" to the playerbase and made it a mandatory multiple runs for the relic step

so expect variant and criterion to be mandarory for relic steps soon

if you play a bursty tank like DRK + the DPS variant action you can blow through packs really quickly and then are tanky enough to mess up a mechanic every once in a while, i often had 3 vuln stacks lol

If you wanna group this, for achievements or you just prefer grouping, you'll haft to make your own party, or look for one in PF.

Normal mode is for solo grinders, like myself, who come here for combined grinds. Each run takes around 12 minutes. Each run gives 40 astro's and 25 casual's. You have chances at RNG loot and then theres the guaranteed tokens you can exchange for the AMPLE emote or Noir glam clothing. All of which sells very nicely... on my server anyway.

The dungeons aren’t very compelling content and there is no incentive to do roulette over soloing them. No extra reward, it takes longer and people click on stuff randomly.

When variant dungeons were first announced, I thought that we’d be seeing different environments and a variety of bosses but in reality, each path leads to the same first boss. The only differences are small mechanics variations. 3 out of 4 of the 2nd bosses are repeated 3-4 times.

All the fights are a snooze fest and bosses only have a few types of (slow) attacks that are repeated over and over. They first show you the basic pattern, then add a layer to it and it just keeps repeating till they die. As for adds, save one group of specific adds, they just have a lot of HP to slow you down. Apart from the mount which is given for the completion of all paths, loot is mostly sparkles, tomes and a special currency with limited use. Unless you want the few rare rng pieces of extra loot, there is no reason to go back at all (I just bought what I wanted from the MB). The new deep dungeon is more fun and more interesting in terms of exploration, fights and loot.

Oh and as others have said, solo is better. If you want the mount but insist on going with a group, maybe try pf to hopefully get a party that doesn’t run like chickens with their heads cut off, opening the wrong paths and killing certain adds in the wrong order.

Since Variant scales to party size (unlike deep dungeon), running it solo is just easier and quicker, especially when you only want to do it to run certain paths for a mount. Once people got the mount themselves, they stopped doing it. In my opinion, the variant dungeon itself is actually worse than the normal dungeon content we get in terms of quality, and these "many paths" are hilarious. I open up a closet this time around and thats considered a new "path"? Cmon XD

All MMOs have some content that is better done solo. A game being an MMO does not immediately mean all content must be group-oriented, or even that all (or most) of its players will want all content to be group-oriented. Because of how easy Variant Sil'dihn is, most people see no reason to group up for it in the first place. Any job can tear through the place on bare minimum effort.

3 TT Cards, rotting away in there that I just can't bring myself to go get. Considering that I literally bum rushed all the extremes in ShB JUST to get the G-Warrior Card and the one from Memoria Misera, I think I might just either be burnt out on grinding cards or the content is just lackluster. Probably both if I'm honest but ShB isn't that much of a departure from EW in terms of content but gameplay seems more shallow somehow.

I mean just make a PF for it if you really want to run it with other players its not that hard. This is what Ive done to get all the entries I needed last week and I had people come in and help.
