For the quest "Always wear protection"

"Synthesize parasital infection protection suit components"

Correct word should read as

"Synthesize parasitical infection protection suit components"

Parasitical is the adjective form of parasitic:

"A disease or infection is parasitical in nature."

just like "aluminum" and "aluminium" that's just the american pronunciation of the word

It's always a good idea to look up the word you want to correct before trying to correct it.

Parasitic is the adjective form of parasite. Parasitical is also the adjective form of parasite, though Merriam-Webster notes that parasitical is less common.

I would say parasitical is a bad choice for its redundancy. It wants to add a suffix to an adjective to make another adjective that means the same as the original adjective.

The correct context of that word, as an adjective and in ALL medical terminology is "parasitic" "parasitical", a "parasitical infection" "anti parasitic medication".

And yet I showed you that Merriam-Webster includes it in their dictionary. As descriptive grammarians, Merriam-Webster keep extensive, detailed records of words in actual usage, and words are only added to the dictionary when:

That is, multiple and varied sources show that a word is in regular use and has staying power. If you have never heard the word parasital used in context, that's fine. However, the grammarians at Merriam-Webster have heard it in context. Many times. Enough to judge that it is an established, current, and meaningful inclusion in the language.


And even if real world context mattered, you know what game you're playing. You've been around long enough to know that the localizers will often choose lesser used forms of words when it makes things sound either more old timey or more fantastical. And why wouldn't the whimsical bunny race but recently woken from a twelve thousand year slumber not have a few oddities to their word choices?

Also one of the words in the second rank up quest for the Loporrits is wrong. The npc in question said “subside” when they should’ve said “subsist” as they were discussing what foods they tend to consume in their daily diet. I can’t recall the specific quest name but I came across that glaring error yesterday.

No, it's not.

Authorities on medicine are not authorities on actual language use. They can prescribe terms all they want; it is up to people to choose whether they follow those prescriptions or not. As I have said and as you have ignored, descriptive grammarians keep track of how real people use language in real contexts. As much as I may cringe at other people's use of "a bicep" to mean the biceps muscle of a single arm, it is in widespread use and my insistence that a single example of that particular arm muscle is "a biceps" does not erase that, no matter how many medical authorities I may cite supporting that. Or when laypeople use "muscle tone" to describe the external visual leanness around a muscle rather than the muscle's baseline resting contraction. Anyone with any formal training in exercise physiology will tell you laypeople are using the term "muscle tone" wrong, but good luck dictating that it must be stricken from everyone's vocabulary.

You are caught up in being prescriptive and authoritarian, which is the absolute worst approach to grammar.

You seem to not have yet learned that medical terms and common language often have different terms for the same thing.

No one says "sodium chlorite", we say "table salt" to quote a meme.

If these words trip you up i am guessing you never read sms language or any words currently in fashion with youngsters, they make words up on the spot.

Too often they aren't, but that doesn't matter. Language use is much wider than medical terminology.
Just because a word happens to be used one way by medical professionals in one country doesn't mean it is used the same way in other places, and it most certainly does not mean it is used that way by ordinary people.

In linguistics in general, words are defined by how people are using them, not by how some authority wants to define them.
