Question about 2.0

Are our characters gonna get deleted? From what I have read on the forums I am getting confused about this.

no. no they are not.

It's been stated before in a number of places that no, we're never losing our characters. Ever.

The characters moving from 1.0-2.0 will remain, however the alpha/beta phase of 2.0 will most likely have a wipe. Since I think they plan on doing a 1-2 months of testing before the actual character transfer from 1.0-2.0.

No, they will not. As stated before there will not be any wipes of anyone's characters. I don't know about beta characters that you started during beta time. They will not wipe current characters.

The character redesign is something we're all getting, free. There are two reasons: 1. the new engine is said to render our character just a little differently, so it'll give us a chance to tweak our characters so they look just right again, and 2. We're getting the "missing genders," namely female roegadyn and highlander, and male miqo'te. So anyone who wants to just change race entirely will be allowed to.

Only the character look. Not the gear, level, inventar, gil.

Please do some research before you post questions like this on the forums. The 2.0 documentation (easily accessible by the lodestone site) has everything you need to know about 2.0. Let's hope trolls don't take over this thread.

Please, stop spreading misinformation. Our characters are never getting deleted, not even temporarily. There isn't even going to be an "alpha," so stop pulling that crap out of your behind.

ok so what about a character name? will i be able to change that? say if i go from a female mithra to a male i wouldnt wanna keep the name i have lol.

Alpha is planned for september. Look at the E3 interviews.
During Alpha and Beta we don't play with our chars. We get them back with the official 2.0 start.
