How would being able to join multiple FCs create alliances? And if you want these, you can already do it informally and through linkshells.
I think this will not invite FCs to form Alliances. Instead, this could destroy FCs with few members or less active ones.
And there is the problem of the FC's boost (Actions). They would become an issue to manage for each member. Will they overlap? Or be changed? Through what criteria?
And about Alliances, I agree they could implement them in a way there is advantages for smaller and bigger FCs in a way that the progress of the smaller ones don't be blocked by the bigger ones. Each Alliance could have new Actions like a plus in the boosts for each FC inside. In this way, you can have 2 boosts from your FC and another one from the Alliance. A new chat for the Alliance members and a new tab showing members online/offline. A calendar in game could be created for the Alliance to make some preparations for events and stuff. Easier to manage and more respectful for each FC's objectives. :)
Wouldn't this make FCs even more meaningless? Like part of what makes a FC a FC is the fact that you can only be in one. Each FC is unique because of their own unique memberbase.
Besides, it's not like there's anything in this game that actually requires you to be in a FC at all, so you don't really need to be in multiple.
An actual alliance between FCs would be neat though.
I like that about ESO, too. It doesn't, in my opinion, have very many pros in comparison to FFXIV but that's one of them. Being able to join multiple guilds opens up more opportunity to connect and easily make plans with players who enjoy the same activities, without relying on Discord or anything similar.
But what would you benefit from having multiple fcs? I can understand maybe for higher level buffs, but leveling up a fc in ffxiv is very easy
Isn't that kind of what linkshells are for?
Might as well...fc exclusive stuff is frowned upon anyway. Nothing more than fancy linkshells atp
You can already form alliances though. My FC is in an alliance with three other FCs from several servers. We have a linkshell in game and a discord server where all events open to alliance members are posted for people to sign up for.
Play ESO. You can have up to 5 Guilds with different themes and some have alliances when it comes to traiding/pvp.
nah, i just don't like the idea of it in general.
A formal alliance system would actually be cool as hell. This was done in... was it maplestory, or tera? I can't remember. In either case, how it worked was like... let's say you have FC1 and FC2. They both have totally separate members, let's say they each have like 40 players in them. FC1 really likes Gundam, while FC2 really likes Death Note, but both FCs love anime in general. They have a common bond but they're different enough to warrant being in different free companies. However, they're not enemies; they want to talk to each other. So FC1 forms an alliance with FC2, and now there's an "alliance" chat channel where FC1 and FC2 can communicate without leaving their free company or making a separate linkshell or god forbid a lower-member-capacity CWLS if Fc1 is on a different world than fc2. Megachannels like these would only be a boon because you'd get the actual UI benefits of an FC (last login date REALLY helps when you have to prune members; motd is also helpful for getting messages to players who are offline, and FCs in general just have large member caps) while being able to easily chat with people in other FCs. In the game I played where this was implemented, we saw a surge in actual conversation because people could stay in their guild with their pretty guild logo/emblem and their friends while also talking to people in another similar guild with ease.
The game should have a buddy chat too. Maplestory had something like this. It was just a chat channel where, when you typed in it, the message was seen by all of the people on your friends list who had the buddy chat enabled. This did lead to some issues where, say, tim sends a message to jan and I'm friends with tim but not friends with jan so I only see one side of the communication since I can't read Jan's replies. But you didn't really use it for 1 on 1 convos; you'd use it as like, an easy way to tell your whole friends list that you were about to run content and invite people enmasse. Under the current system, to accomplish this I'd need to either add everyone on my friends list to a series of CWLSes and Linkshells (I actually kind of do this and even this isn't feasible since CWLSes have small member caps and I can't fit everyone in them; but nevertheless when I want to do content I will literally spam like 5 CWLSes), or send /tells to like 100 people individually. Speaking as someone who uses the available tools: this ain't it.
Also while we're here asking for QoL chat functions, can linkshells and cwls get an optional "X has signed in" message? People could opt out of it if they want to be incognito but it's NICE being able to say hello to people when they log in and outside of FCs this isn't possible unless you keep your buddy list open and you refresh it constantly like a psychopath.
I wish they let you join other FC's that's in another world or database.
You want to decorate your FC shells aren't you? :)
I would not mind this option as it is.... it was a nice feature in FFXIV and also it will be better than linkshells for everything... if you can join up to 5 or something.... not only would it reach out to the 5 you are in, but also those 5 other FC's your FC mates are in and in that way able to build a community better, easier to get along with others... lesser need of Discord channels and the likes as well.
Just think about the possibilities fellas!
You can loot 5 FC chests and move to another 5!
It's like big profit! :p
I'd hate it honestly. It's hard enough to keep up with one group of friends. In every game where you could join multiple guilds I still only joined one.
Well I was thinking based on some good benefits from joining Multiple FCs:
1) FC chests, your main FC don't have what your looking for? Check with the other FC you're in.
2) Looking for another FC focused on different things than your main FC, join that.
3) Forming FC Alliances for various reasons
Just a few I can think of.
Downsides -
1) multiple FC channels would be hard to deal with
2) Potential Drama, and more drama with the ongoing housing issue connected with FCs
I'm sure there is more downsides.
i'd rather they implement cross-world (or cross-datacenter) FCs rather than allow you to join multiple ones. the linkshells are already there, just let the FCs catch up. just have like a homeworld for the FC (based on the world it was formed/signed that way if the master/leader changes there wouldnt be any potential issues or whatever if the FC house was on a different world)
this all sounds like a case of "i want my cake and eat it too". your first point makes it very worrysome especially with players who do steal and run from fc's once they clean out their chests. your second point is also not a reason for this idea. if you want a fc more a style you like. either make it or use community finder to find that fc on your world. as for alliances...we got linkshells/cwls.
Sounds like you looking for Linkshells. I can't imagine any benefit from being in multiple FCs at a time.
I remember asking for something like this ten years ago. They said they were working on something and to look foreard to it. Ten years later,
