Just says Light and Chaos which is European Servers.

Real shame if you didn't get a house with the ward addition. Truly tragic.
It's okay it'll be back in 6 month
If you didnt get a house on EU I dont know what to tell you anyways, houses are free everywhere /shrug
Understandable, considering the Turkey earthquake tragedy and the heartbreaking (and sadly increasing) death toll :(
As much as I agree that the situation is obviously very sad to witness, I still dont see why the game should adapt to disasters happening in real life, this will probably be a very disliked opinion, but I still dont get it.
With that said, EU's housing scarcity is nowhere like the NA one, so I think it's okay
nowhere near as bad, the main issue is that we've just come off it being paused for 14 months, and now it's paused again for an undefined period of time. So it's just ridiculous at this point that it's going to be a never-ending cylcle of pausing and unpausing. The only benefit really is that it's clear that they can pause auto demo by DC, so they should have unpaused auto demo for America and Asia/Oceania long ago at least, but never did.
Squeenix uses anything and everything as an excuse to shut off autodemo.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't shut it off in NA because it actually rained in Southern California.
I think the idea is that there's one aspect of the game that is tied to being subbed, and that's housing. SE set a precedent in the first 7 years of the game where local disasters resulted in auto-demo being suspended - mostly hurricanes and typhoons. If you've been at ground zero for one of those, it is quite possible life won't be "normal" enough to play a video game for months. On the other hand, how many people really would have lost their virtual real estate due to these disasters? Hard to say.
I understand how you feel and I also think I understand the decision SE made as well. In theory, there will always be a disaster (manmade or natural) to contend with. There are ongoing crises across the world even before the Turkey/Syria earthquake.
This is because SE cares about people, real people, alot of dead people due to this disaster, and just because it did not hit your neighborhood does not make it less important to care about, they play FFXIV and other games there too you know?
How about you pay some respect and think more deep into things.. FFXIV IS JUST a game... so is housing... and if housing is that important, then I believe you can play the Sims or somethign down those lines.
*looks at your threads on housing* You should heed your own advice.
No offence, but this is a live service game, pausing and unpausing a feature in it for a miniscule fraction of the player base is ridiculous. All the Ukraine players were busy protesting in Limsa for several months before they went back to their normal routine, yet auto demo was only turned on recently...and now off again. It's completely arbitrary on what SE picks and chooses to pause auto demo on and needless to say anyone that is affected by stuff that doesn't make international news gets neglected by SE.
IF anything, SE should open up an account option to allow people to pause auto demo on their account for a period of time for unforeseen reasons such as medical issues, or other issues (no internet due to moving house) or disasters and stuff like that. Not pause auto demolition for several million people because a thousand people may be affected by something.
Like a gym would if you were physically injured and unable to workout? Yea, that makes sense. Except, when your house is smashed to bits, you're attending funerals for your loved ones and friends, or running away from missile strikes, how are they supposed to (if they are even in the mindset) contact SE and ask for a pause with all the other stuff going on?
you have 45 days since you last logged in to find a phone, login to your account and request a pause on your housing demolition. But quite frankly, if i were in that situation, losing my house in a virtual world would be the least of my problems, let alone games in general. So I wouldn't be bothered in that situation in the slightest.
Or maybe... just maybe, we should continue pushing for them to implement a way for people to not have to worry about losing their virtual house, neither for the rest of the playerbase to count on others losing their house so they can have a chance at getting one themselves.
It's just...weird.
Want me to list off all the disasters that have been neglected by SE? All the people that have died globally that SE have ignored? You can't stop living your life because something happens somewhere else in the world. The world doesn't stop moving, but some of you people here and square enix thinks it does.
FYI, the war with Ukraine only affected 2 countries (Russia and Ukraine), yet SE disabled auto demolition for millions of people globally that don't live in either of those two countries...
Well Finland and Sweden are being threatened for wanting to join NATO to start. Threats to shut off fuel pipelines. People are freezing their asses off because fuel is way more expensive than it was. Grains stopped in ports along the Ukrainian and Russian borders. Refugees need somewhere to go...
then the best solution for that would have been to reduce/provide free subscriptions for affected countries lol... It's not like the world has recovered economically, most countries are merely postponing recession by months at the moment if that, some already in recession...
This. The 6 wards they added are almost completely full on most Crystal worlds. Tomorrow’s lotto will likely be the last. Auto-demo is all that people have to look forward to now, and it’s sad. Keep the existing wards, but finally add an instanced system and we wouldn’t need auto-demo anymore.
Don't rope me into this "can't live life" bs. I'm was just stating an opinion. Now I am gonna state a fact, a lot more that just Ukraine and Russia are/were involved in what is going on in Europe. Look at Germany for example, they went a good chunk of the winter fighting for heat, electricity, and internet. That wasn't the only country that was dealing with that problem. A few months back, people of Sweden were under Russia's spotlight. But I guess what do I know? Its just Ukraine and Russia right?
A large part of the massive increase to NA food prices have been due to the war. Our normal surpluses that keep prices low here have been sent to EU, Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia to avert the famines that would have otherwise occurred because of the loss of farms in the Ukraine that were responsible for a significant portion of the world's wheat supply along with other food products.
The semi-conductor shortage has been prolonged by the loss of the factories producing neon in Ukraine. They were responsible for 80% of the world's neon supply before the war began and it's been taking time to increase production elsewhere to catch up.
The instability of the region thanks to the war and Russia's threats to drag more countries into it has contributed to increasing oil prices, which in turn causes the price of gas and other petroleum related product to increase. Few countries rely solely on domestically produced oil.
When you hear about global economies, they mean it. Disaster and disruption in one small part of the world spreads out ripple effects that can affect those on the opposite side of the planet.
How does a free subscription solve anything? Do you genuinely believe that people still have guaranteed access to power and internet service when utility infrastructure has suffered major damage from bombings and earthquakes? Of course, many of them don't even have a home to be receiving those services nor do their friends and neighbors. There are still many living in basements of buildings half destroyed in previous bombings.
You want a house? I just jumped on my Alpha character. There's plenty of available plots on Alpha.
Problem solved. You're just fine with demolition being suspended.
You do know we have the exact same issues in the UK? Utility bills increasing by 400%, massive food shortages too because farmers can't afford to farm since the supermarkets just import it from abroad for cheaper which has seen A LOT of products including vegetables and eggs becoming scarce which has only driven up the costs in the long run since the supermarkets were to cheap to support their suppliers.
Yeah i'm well aware of the affects, and ironically, most of those were going to happen because reliance on Russia and Ukraine, it was easily foreseeable 8 years ago and could have been prevented.
The purpose of auto-demolition is to provide more houses to players when houses have been filled up. It would not be needed if houses were infinite, and it is not needed now in Light/Chaos which still have personal plots for sale. The affected people deserve a chance to get to safety and find out what happened to their loved ones before having to worry about their virtual house. Wanting mediums and larges to demolish days after a disaster of this magnitude when there are still houses available is an ugly form of greed.
I won't be able to play properly without eggs in my fridge now.
