No its very unlikely they would "fix it" since it cant be fixed. PVP in ff just doesn't work and it feel bad to play it.
don't hold your breath waiting for them to fix this they have a lot on their plate right now.
Fix the lack of rewards and we are fine. Maybe add Rival Wings roulette.
Spending resources elsewhere is a waste as the remainder of the system is good enough, Fronlines is meme regardless, unless they reduce the total participant number or make it 2 teams.
I would rather they just delete it entirely at this point.
I've been sticking with it since shadowbringers when I did enjoy it, I've been sticking with it since 6.1 patch and haven't had fun at all in any way shape or form since then in both CC and FL. Theres no way I could take this game seriously enough to "get good" but I'd like to maybe "have fun" again if that's at all okay or possible for Yoshi P.
To be fair, your prior post did sound like you were new to PVP, that sounded like an extreme exaggeration of the present WHM. It is however very different from pre SHb- you may or may not like its present iteration, it's a support job now, not a healer, I prefer the way the way that the healers are now. Some people may not, and would prefer a more traditional healer role as previous- I can understand their point of view.
There's a lack of living on edge in pvp. The stay on your toes like ShB brought in pvp. Even though many didn't play well enough that square had to revamp the entire thing to toddler - 5th grade level of pvp and thoughtfulness. It's missing so many things, and is becoming more and more stale. Such as removing job identity and easy combo Single button mashing. I as well just 1 v 3 or 1 v 4 players in CC to get the battle high I had with our previous ShB kit.
Before it was critical thinking and testing, and theorycrafting. But once you thought you hit the top, you find out you weren't even there and kept practicing on situational awareness. Damage wasn't over the top and many classes [except Sam/ Rdm] had great kits and plenty of them lacked viability.
To optimize your understanding for your job was to perform duels. Now pretty much the tier list is out for dueling but in a team orientated cluster F*** its not simple cause everyone nearly does ridiculous damage and the better your AoE skills are, the higher chance you have of winning.
Whm. Poly was a horrible design choice, cause you can't counter it and nothing was designed with that in mind.
A full redesign plus job identity would bring pvp back. If we had the same Feast buttons or more it would bring CC in an interesting area of knowing your burst and coordinating with the team more fun but also difficult. Cause return of tank and Healer roles would make prioritizing cc on one of those two, and Burst a single target to oblivion. But the problem is, the general public that doesn't know how to theorycraft or understand MMOrpgss and want it RPG moreover.
I legit found feast a lot easier in fine. It had a certain skill floor because it was execution and meta heavy, meaning players HAD to know what they should be doing exactly to perform at a minimum welfare level. That issue got also exacerbated by the fact that especially below diamond, healers made or broke 99% of games and whoever had the better one, won, period.
Once they learned what to do though, it was just extremely mechanical and repetitive. Half of the things were already settled by macros (that every player also had to have prepared, reinforcing the need for everybody to KNOW what they were supposed to be doing):
- countdown burst attack targets on melee DPS
- silencing/stun macros on ranged jobs targeting the enemy healer, facilitated by every role always being in the same party slot, and synched on the burst countdown
- tank stun synchronized with the burst countdown on the target
The remaining half were the basics like positioning and hugging walls which are also part of CC. But most of it was always following the exact same pattern, and the team executing the same script better than the other eventually applied more pressure to targets until they were out of medkits and started dying (provided both healers were of equal skill). Feast had a higher skill floor perhaps, but a way lower skill ceiling.
I guess you're sorta right all classes died in one full well synchronized combo. All you had to do was stun/ sleep the correct Target Tank/Healer/Range with damage down respectively per situation. Idk about skill ceiling felt much higher than CC, but we got Lbs to account for in CC. I had a well understanding of dueling to know that only Rdm/Gnb were overtuned and DRK were on the banned tier if you played at a perfect level and coming across one good player with extensive knowledge made the fight slightly more difficult, and the beauty lies within how well you can play individually. Otherwise Sam was the chiten carry and Pld/Mnk was below Sam. After that everyone else followed suit and had clear weaknesses. I mean its skill set worked great for Frontlines. I lived for the true burst combo that killed almost anyone under 7s flat. Now it's like the same amount of seconds, but now the team has to ramp up the damage instead of a single person carrying.
New pvp is so bad.. they will never fix it, all they do is catter to the PVE player that never plays it and leave actual people who enjoy(ed) pvp with garbage new meta/mechanics that nobody wants to play anymore. on top of this, most people are using mmominion to get they're in-game wiener enlargement titles.
this game is rotten inside out and will never be good. first step would be to ban the cheaters but they just dont care, never did, never will. Second step would be to STOP DELETING the game, pvp pre 6.1 was amazing but now its literally a LB / 3 button rotation festival, absolute no brainer. So sad to see the direction SE has taken for pvp, this new pvp is an absolute failure.
Just play another game, even if you decide to invest time in 2 year they will wipe it again.
Apart from all of the problems in pvp, I feel like there needs to be a personal score that shows how well you did in a match, (kills, deaths, damage, crystal time, etc) So even if you lose, you can still go higher with this personal score.
Because getting groups that if you asked them to solve a problem where there are two holes, a triangle hole, and a square hole, gave them a square block, and told them to put it in the right hole, they would constantly try to put it in the triangle hole, is extremely unfun.
Then there's the amount of games where I've had in a row, multiple people just afk at the start, run in after everyone else is dead while even trying to put up a fight, then one leaves, and the rest is history.
Or for heavens sake, let us do premades, make sure people having a basic understanding of what they're doing.
This armor cannot come quick enough. Even with daily frontlines I just want it to be over.
They catered to the people saying that pvp had too many buttons.
They catered to people saying that some classes were useless in pvp.
They catered to people saying that certain healers were OP.
They catered to all the people crying about playing healers as high stress.
At this point, 4 expansions in: git gud and stop crying.
3.0 PVP was fun, people who refused to learn the game cried loud enough and got their way unfortunately. It was simplified to have literally no skill gap between players in 4.0 and now its just boring crowd control and limit break spam. At this point, just remove PVP all together and focus on PVE.
I'll be forced to do raiding at that point or things related to PotD and HoH.
The only reason why I went pure pvp 2nd half of Shadowbringers expansion was the fact that I didnt like wall to wall pulls. There were unnecessary wipes at least once for tanks and healers not coming together. Eventually, I got sick of seeing this and started carrying potions for old content, because I was tired of wasting my armor durability for assumptions. If tank and healer goes down I'll attempt to kill everyone using the kit that's there. Like I shouldn't be playing frontlines in pve dungeons.
I havent done roulettes this expansion, but I'm pretty certain that I'll be dealing with the same thing should I go back. PvP is literally my only escape of dealing with the hell that is roulettes. Forget doing that. Forget trying to fill in for Wonderous Tails. It's not worth the stress for something that's supposed to be casual.
