[SUGGESTION] Character creation needs an overhaul/rework/more options

(sorry if bad english)

FFXIV's character creation is really lacking in a lot of stuff, like with faces options and lack of sliders in some parts. I've met quite a lot of people in the game, but most of them have same looking characters. I wish they do something about this in 7.0, especialy when they'll update the graphics. I know there's already quite a lot of forum posts with same topic, especially with specific races like viera and hrothgar, but i should mention that all races have it's own problem too

So i made a list of what they should add in the character creation

General ideas for all races
1. Add more Face preset options
2. Slider needs to be more intense (for example muscle tones, make it so that we can have chubby body)
3. Change "type" options to have a sliders, or atleast add more "type" options (jaw, eye shape, iris size, nose, and mouth)
4. Add more colors options, especially skin colors
5. Add new sliders for some body parts ("bottom" and thighs)
5. Add more new voices (and maybe let us use voices from other races too)
6. Add more Facial hairs/features (beard, moustache, scars and accessories)
7. Bring all race exclusive hairstyle to be available for all races (especially from hrothgar and viera)
8. Add muscle tones slider for races other than hyur and roegadyn
9. Add eye's limbal ring options for races other than au ra
10. New default clothings
11. Add more tail shape options for miqo'te, au ra, and hrothgar
12. Unlockable hairstyle from 1 character, make it account wide
13. Bald options for races and genders other than male hyur-highlander and male roegadyn

Now for specific races

Hyur
1. Add ear shape options

Elezen
1. Let duskwight to have ear clasp and tattoos options from wildwoods
2. Add more ear clasp options


Au Ra
1. Seperate horn from face preset and let it have it's own options
2. Add more horn shapes
3. Horn shape sliders

Hrothgar
1. Female Hrothgar
2. Add an options to have fully fur body or not
3. Tiger/Lion roar voices
4. Seperate ear from face preset and let it have it's own options
5. Change fang length type to have slider
6. Add more fur patterns

Viera
1. Add more ear shapes

By adding more options like this, not only it will benefit the players, but also for the company as well, like more players will start buying a lot of fantasia.

Let me know in the replies what should i add more

With 7.0 there should be the upcoming graphical upgrades, since the over 10 year old character models are possibly getting mildly outdated...


Maybe we can hope more character options with that update.
And for more character body related options, I would like Tattoos that aren't tied to armors.

OP has a lot of great ideas. Sadly I don't think we'll see much of it happen.

I always back these posts as the character creation is really dated now. I began March 2010 and there was only a few races in the Alpha and Miqo'te females came later in the test so the earlier races are almost 13 years old and in that time they have not changed very much.

They added a boob slider as in V1.0 it was really bad so that was good thing, but since then as we all know they have neglected the customisation a lot.

I know not to get my hopes up with FFXIV, after so long playing I feel that all we will get will be the new light and shading effects as I have not seen them mention anything on giving the customisation a overhaul which I feel it really does need. I would love a lot of what you mentioned but I feel we won't get much.

It's a good list but this i don't like.. the reason is simple is that i don't like adding features to another race which is a lore wise a racial trait like the limbal rings are for Au ra

I haven't read out the full list, but from what I have skimmed, a lot of this seems to be a bit too much for me. I agree with the general idea of character creation having more options/being made better.

I'm for more ear shapes (viera/miqote/horthgar/elezen at least) BUT...
I think Viera ears a bit are "too rigid" being tied to a character choice.
Imo the best would be to be able to set a default "ear expression" emote

ex :

|_^

\_/
etc...

Only 3/8 races would benefit from that but all would benefit from a customizable default facial expression.

controversial bonus : tails for viera

Add body scale pattern options to Au'Ra that give variations from ones with low scale to skin ratios to ones that have much higher ones. Also add some varying scale colour options as well. Both would be extremely popular with Au'Ra Players (there's even mods out there that show good concepts of this).

Edit: Don't think anyone needs to add Hrothgar Female as a request it's already known that this is an option that's coming likely with 7.0 expecially since this is THE last option missing from the character creation since 5.0.

I'd much rather have fangs stay a Keeper exclusive trait. It's all we've got going for us! If you give Seekers fangs as an option you're taking away one if the main things that make us unique :( You already get unique cool eyes, let us keep our fangs.

Besides, if you really want fangs... could just fantasia into a Keeper* :^) (Although I do not endorse the use of such concoctions)

Anyway, I'd love to see body tattoos/markings/scars options implemented. I imagine some Miqo'tes having some stripes on their bodies like the ones on their faces, I'd love to have an option for that. Even if the character creator got a massive overhaul, I wouldn't want to change my character's look much. I'm far too attached to him the way he is. But I'm in favour of more options for everyone else. But I would like that muscle sider so he can be a bit more toned... and a butt slider... Oh and the ability to FLIP HAIRSTYLES. Unless this is already an option I somehow missed...

You forgot #7: Rework or add a toggle for the awkward hunched back we have. Not everyone likes it, and even among those who do or are fine with it, the hunchback doesn't look natural or properly justified by the rest of a Hrothgar's mannerisms.

We won't be getting an actual updated character creator because there isn't an uproar for it like there was for Hrothgar & Viera fixes
So, unless this thread kicks off like those threads have- just expect a graphical update & that's it.

The XIV team will deliver exactly what they said they would & no extra sauce included.

We just need to keep threads like this bumped, with reasonable requests & keep them on the front page

Separate Eyebrow colour from Hair
Give other races added options like eyelashes
Separate horns from Au Ra faces
Lipstick without gloss - gloss looks metallic & gross
Options to wear more than 1 face paint. I want to wear blush and eyeshadow
Give Viera spots on their ears like in ffxii
Striped & spotted miqote ears & tails
Eyebrows for male highlanders

LONG HAIR. I'm unconvinced long hair would clip horrible as we have yet to try out hairs like Gaia's or Ysayle's.
I ran around as Yugiri in the halloween event (she has long hair) & her hair did not clip.

Wavy/ curly hair. Why do only Female Roe's have the 1 really wavy hair?

Give us NPC face, beard & hair options. Stop leaving player character models in the dust when NPC's are constantly updated.

...and no, that dumb smeared make up doesn't cut it, specially if your hair color is anything other than black or white and/or you want to use face paint for something else.

Yeah we really lack beards in general, they will probably justify it with helm clipping but that can be fixed if they hide the beard all together with full on helms.

Exactly! And with the case of helms like the Deepshadow hoods, just hide the beard if the veil is pulled down and unhide with it pulled up!

I have a pretty thick beard irl as well, and part of the reason why I don't play male characters in this game is because I can't have a long beard. Would be great to have one.

pwease pwease pwitty pwease *v* an updated char creation!!! more options for everyone!! more customization!!! more...modern options u.u body sizes.. i've seen pics of characters thickened just a little, not a body mod but scaling bones, and they look so much better *to me* with some 'meat' on them. shapely <3 and hIPS. i'd play a roe if i could have wider hips n thicker thighs.

More customisation and less flat bottom...and more hair and Horns and fangs for all cats! All my kitty's have fangs in rl so all the catters should.

I really like beards as well. Hrothgar have a little bit more options than other races, but it's still pretty non-existent.

Going from "face options" to sliders would be great as well, but I guess SE doesn't want people with completely deformed faces like you can do on stuff like ArcheAge or Black Desert (I personally don't mind this, meeting people with stupid faces is very funny IMO). That being said, people already wear completely out-of-lore glams, so...

Also I'd like SE to make the Hrothgar hairstyles that are tied to a face shape to be usable with all face shapes, there are hairstyles that I really like but can't use because I don't have the right face shape. Heck, actually make them usable by all races.

We need muscle sliders that are more than a fancy normal map opacity slider. I want my character to look like she can actually use those massive swords dark knights get. Adding more face options would be nice as well, but more importantly, let as apply multiple face paint options at once. I shouldn't have to choose between having freckles, blush eye shadow or scar, I should be able to apply all of the above at once. Also body tattoos, scars and freckles would be amazing.

One can dream for so much customization. It should be the main importance for any MMO dev out there. Players enjoy character creation.

• Shoulder slider would fix all my elezen problems.
  
• Color wheel for hair/eyes would be nice too.
  
• For miqo'te (and mayber hrothgar, dunno if it would make sense for them) it'd be cool if there was a pupil option for a half seeker/keeper look.
  
• Body tattoos
  
• Preview option for unlockable hairstyles (so people know what to gun for/buy)
  
• Dunno if I want everyone else's hairstyles (some yes not all) but I certainly want some hair styles w/o the accessory as an option

no no just remove the hunch. period. no hunch.
The had no good reason to mangle the spine of Ronso, all they needed to change on Ronso was giving them human feet so hrothgar didnt get needlessly screwed out of a gear slot for glamour.
But oh no. We got a stupid hunch AND screwed out of a whole gear slot for no good reason anyway.

More notes: Bring hrothgar up to par with viera by 6.5
There was no need to EVER screw hrothgar players out of new options with Endwalker 6.0's release, but the fact that hrothgar are TWO patch cycles because the devs couldnt fathom not removing ears in 6.1 is really just completely embarrassing. They feel ashamed every single day they allow hrothgar to be this far behind a race that got added to the game the same time they did.
And further. Give hrothgar windcaller before viera. The fact viera ever got two bozja content hairstyles (femininity aside) before the actual native race or bozja is unbelievably stupid. It cant be this hard. We know it isnt. Windcaller had a working mod for hrothgar the day BSF got added to the game so I don't want excuses. They dont have to make hard content for this game anymore since pc players will just slap a "stand here to avoid mechanics" mod into their game 2 hours after 6.51 releases, they can just make Satasha lv15, Unreal Edition.

I'm sorry but I just don't think hrothgar should have to wait til some vague far off time in the 7.0 era to get anything ON TIME for godssake.

Can work. There's no inherent real reason as to why some Hrothgar have slitted pupils and why others don't. Originally we believed it was because you turned differently if you or your ancestors strayed away from the presence of a Queen.
But turns out that's not real :| so it really is just yet another bunch of Hrothgar bouncing around, it's not really a problem. Could even enable mixed races, if that makes sense.

On that note, that could also be an interesting addition to have mixed people.
NOT different races mixing together; as fun as that'd be it'd imply some unfortunate circumstances that Square wants to nope out of... Sorry Hilda fans, I know you want to be like her but '-' you don't want to go down that path and neither does SE.

I know they've said they very likely would not go for adding chub to players simply because the gear would have to be stretched out and it wouldn't look good... and I believe it. Some of the older gear isn't quite the higher quality we have now, imagine that being stretched out to fit over a dump truck butt.

It wouldn't look great, not when people talk about the pixel mess of Hien's clothes and those are even higher quality than the 2.0 stuff! If they get upscaled and they can be molded to be not so awkward on different body types than "thin" or "hroth/roe beefy", then great.

I'm down for like, everything else for the most part; some of the racial traits should stay with that particular race/clan, but more faces, more customization, the ability to have more than one makeup option (+ ACTUAL FRECKLES) on a face... there's a lot that should be done before they do anything bigger like chunkier bodies.

i think they can do a littol bit of stretching/scaling to add an all around thickness but not very exaggerated. would still be nice uvu

Back here to have a daily bump so the devs can notice this! Please update the character creator. Not everyone uses mods so please for those who do not can we have better customisation.
I also will say the only reason people wear the 2 b bottoms is because lack of legs and bottom we need either gear to improve our shape or a slider. I can not relate to no bottom it feels like I am 12.

More customization is better, it also helps the game's look overall.
It's weird how some stuff like scars are paired together with facial hair or accessories for example...

Yeeeeah, except you can't stream with mods. People like Krimson KB still wouldn't be able to use it.

+ 1 for a revamp of the character creator. Add more options, sliders and maybe a colour wheel (for eye, hair and skin/fur colour).
Also, a muscle slider for all races would be nice and maybe allow for a greater height range for the races for people to be able to make taller Au'Ra or shorter Elezen.

i think they could make the UI better, in 1.0 all of the skin tones and eye and hair color were individually numbered so you could always get that exact shade you wanted
