Anyone seen a good looking house that hasn't broken ToS (including abusing bugs/glitches)?
in before someone says Yoshida says it's okay... the ToS specifically states that you cannot take advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay, It's still strictly breaking ToS.
Quote:
2.1 Cheating and Botting. You may not create or use any unauthorized cheats, bots, automation software, hacks, mods or any other unauthorized software or hardware designed to modify the Game and gameplay. In addition, you may not take advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay.
Mine should be good to go, I decorated my yard using the normal in game housing tools. But I only decorated my yard since I have been busy crafting and selling on the MB to take advantage of the housing boom to make gil. I may actually focus crafting my furnishing and get to decorating my interior soon for this.
For those curious to see my progress, my home is located in Seraph Goblet W14 P35.
All well furnished houses at this point are using plugin for free XYZ placement with ease.
Call me Nostradamus, because I can already see the future of 90% of the houses on stream having floated and storage-placed furniture and people dying mad about it because noooo that's taking advantage of bugs!!!
The simple solution would be for the devs to just remove all restrictions on decorating and implement a simple x,y,z movement for all objects because clearly it's possible and just artificial engine restrictions that get bypassed by for example with glitched furniture, since you exit the placement menu before the engine tick to correct the location of the furniture happens, the x,y,z coordinates of the item get saved on the server.
As much as I enjoy decorating, fighting against the housing system without any of the glitches/bugs (especially the storage glitch) is maddening. (● ﹏☉)
-You can't put furniture flush against the house's actual walls, pillars, or stairs. Even worse, most of the older items have larger "hit boxes", meaning huge gaps when trying to place them even near house walls, pillars, or stairs. Being able to clip items through walls or float them through floors is also one of the few ways to hide the clipping-patchwork of fusion a bunch of items together.
-You can't put most imitation windows on partitions. They at least started to design windows that can be.
-You can't decorate the medium or large houses' stairways.
-You can't put wall-mounted items on non-partition items or table-top items on non-table items (the Masonwork Stove being an example of both).
-You can't place items on lofts other then table-top items.
I get it, you want people to complain about how you've said it, because your mad at people trying to tell you to stop using plugins when you do savage and/or ultimate.
What, you don't love a grid that changes based on camera position?
yes, xD someone is bound to say it's fine that Yoshi P Okay'd the abuse of bugs despite it being against ToS what with all the drama that's going on revolving ToS. PLus the fact that everyone knows the open secret about decorating lol and the devs fail to do anything productive. But here, have a Hay bed :D
Yes, and we all know two things that invalidate what you said here:
1) Yoshi-P has already proven he isn't 'strict' in the strictly speaking category (Don't use mods, hush hush *wink* *wink*, we won't do much as long as you don't advertise it, huehuehue).
2) You can glitch using what is solely in game and not needing plugins to do so, such as what I do. If they want to fix their bugs so we can't use Stage Panels, Wooden Lofts and shelves to get things in places we want, then they should perhaps prioritize their bug list to include such game-breaking violations. *rolls eyes*
What has SE confirmed to be a bug and therefore are techniques that we shouldn't use?
The only one I'm aware of is the out of bounds furnishing placement (as in completely outside of the normal interior boundaries), which we were asked not to do because it messes with the housing server in some way.
They've said nothing about items floating in air, or being placed directly out of storage so the item can be placed in a stairwell or flush against a wall.
It's up to SE to decide what they do not intend for players to do and therefore against ToS. Since they have been silent on most of the "glitches" despite their widespread publicized use, they may well intend for us to be using them since it takes some of the pressure off the development team to give us better tools to do the same thing as other MMOs with housing have done. Certainly they're vocal enough on other issues they consider TOS violations.
Depends on what is exploiting and what is just living with the realities of the game.
Exploiting a bug in mind would be using it for duping items or glitching fights/mechanics for a reward.
Making a house look nice does not effect game balance or rewards received by the game.
Also any bug that has been left in as long as the housing ones? It is the devs fault for not fixing it. Don't blame the players for devs putting out shoddy product.
I use in-game glitches without 3rd party tools when it comes to housing
I was able to relocate my house & had 400 items in my storage left from the move (what was in storage was included, which it was already maxed at 200, so plus the other 200 which were already placed) - I have a small & it was nice to not have to make room for once.
I will scream at the top of my lungs about how horrible the placement system is with the housing.
So people who do use a plug-in to improve the housing placement features, I commend them.
It's not hurting anyone. It's not taking away anyone's fun & you can't get rewards for it- it literally just saves time & a huge headache. If anything, it helps creativity.
( I know people who use it & have watched them stream while doing it. )
For folks who do use an xyz plug-in; I advise you hide it as best you can because there are karens out there.
People have asked for years for an improvement to the house decorating & give us an xyz system. It has been basically radio silence from the xiv team.
Ironically the best houses will be excluded from this one. Because no one wants to be banned for the vilest crime of having a beautiful handcrafted world-within-a-house sensation. And self-incriminating themselves by having it featured in a big event like this...
Would prefer if we indeed could have a manner of putting furniture anywhere, without it taking 8 hours to glitch it in...or using something naughty to do it in 5 seconds.
If you browse the internet for the wildest creations, they are stunning masterpieces that one cannot even fathom being possible to do. Imagination has no limits. It could be a whole mountain range with a small village, beautiful scenery, a forest...Built entirely from combinations of furniture and clever positioning. Then add light effects, items to create entirely custom, possibly flickering shadows of interesting shapes, a starlit sky...Limits are meant to be broken.
There are many crimes in the world of FFXIV.
Putting a decorative item in a freely chosen spot within the house boundaries should not be one of them.
I can glitch but I’m not really good at the more complicated stuff… it gets so frustrating. lol
If it’s a stage, naturally I’m gonna want to put something on it. Or a loft! But they’re both technically tables, so only tabletop items can be placed on them. There’s like one table that’s tabletop and I can’t think of any chairs or beds… I mean, even if they won’t give us xyz, could they at least code the furnishings differently so lofts and stages are treated as “floors” and not “tables”? Heck at that point it would probably be easier from their standpoint to give us xyz! lol
Short of sinking items into a basement floor or floating items outdoors, there's very little the third party tools do that can't be replicated manually. The third party tools just make those things vastly easier to accomplish. There will be plenty of houses displayed that make use of the third party tools because there won't be any proof that they were accomplished that way.
Practice helps a lot. There are a lot of glitches I used to struggle with that I now use easily because I've done them so many times.
Don't give up!
my hope is to NOT see peoples stupidly decorated Larges, that are made to look like a 8x8 apartment .....staring at you "professional" decorators...waste of a large. -shakes head in disbelief-
lol the homeless players should lie down in the wards to reflect the problem LMAO
More item slots and people wouldn't have to close off rooms as much. Even if someone filled one room with stuffed dhalmels it's really no one else's business if it's their house.
You are allowed to have an opinion yes, a ridiculous one but sure you can have it.
Whatever people do with their plots has no impact on you, you should mind your own business, if people want to keep the house empty, they can. If they want to make it on one floor, they can too.
They can decorate their houses yes, a ridiculous decoration but sure they can have it.
Whatever my view on what people do with their plots is has no impact on them, You should stop trying to stifle people from voicing their viewpoints. its very authoritarian and incredibly unbecoming.
What I really want to see, but probably won’t… lol
Host: uh oh looks like you’ve got a bed on a loft. 3rd party tools are against TOS you know…
Designer: oh no! No 3rd party tools! Here I’ll show you! (Designer demos the painstaking process of lifting a bed so it fits on the loft.)
Host: wow that seems like a giant p.i.t.a.
Designer: yeah you think?!
lol we get to see stuff along those lines, I’ll get my popcorn ready!
You would hate my large on Marilith, though at least I'm using all of the ground floor and about a third of the basement.
Out of 400 items to place, 231 are flower vases. At about 196 (can't remember the exact number though I mentioned it in another thread), I had to switch the vase I was using because it wouldn't let me use any more of the first.
I promise myself each time after I float one of those darn things that I'll never do it again.
Then I do it again because nothing else will work in the spot.
Sounds like you’re one of those decorators who don’t want to use the actual space you have just to make a mini-modern apartment. Don’t be so butthurt.
He’s just criticizing the way the space is wasted and I can only agree, I prefer to see a nicely decorated Large than one looking like a small, they also end up looking the same because people just copy each other. Like their catgirls being clones and being what humans/blood elves are in Warcraft.
Does it prevent you to do what you do ? No, so just go back to your Large-Small and enjoy.
This has nothing to do with being a decorator or not, this has to do with the amount of items available in large houses, they are not anywhere near enough to fill a large with all floors used, at least if you want there to be a tiny little bit of detail.
And I will go back to my "large-small", dont you worry, but thank you for your opinion. People's houses are people's houses, they can keep it empty for all I care, not my problem, its theirs.
SE should just strictly only make their game to be able to load with their own launcher, so can ditch stuff like Dalamud and XIVlauncher out there for good as it is, or whatever plugin system people abuse playing this game.
How is it that the developers can't prevent this stuff from happening?
These people using plugins to put a loft higher up in their house or to place lights better, or simply to place items closer to the walls sure are breaking your game. Keep complaining about anything and everything, actual troll and crybaby, "waaaaaaaaaaaaah people having fun in the game !!!! squareeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fix it", get lost already
Because there is no 'make software secure' checkbox before compile.
Security is one of the biggest - if not the biggest - challenges that exists in software engineering. The sayings about "if they have physical access to your device, they can do whatever they want to it" also largely applies to software: if it's running on a device you physically control, odds are you can do pretty much anything you want to it, it's just a matter of expending the time and effort to rip its guts out and understand how it ticks. Securing software that was not built from the ground up with security in mind is an even harder ask - and this game was absolutely not built with client security in mind. Additionally, if the software provider isn't willing - or legally able - to commit to invasive forms of detection or protection, the difficulty goes up even higher.
When you have limitations, it forces you to find solutions and you may be surprised by it sometimes. In my case, I’ll spend more time checking how they managed the limitation, than the usual modern apartment look.
Where you basically check a few combinations (when it’s slightly different than the usual template) and that’s about it.
At any rate, the guy criticizing this doesn’t prevent people from doing it. Similar to the people criticizing jerk ward owners.
So your complain about it comes off as someone who needlessly felt and still feels hurt by it.
Your right to express your opinion is not a right to be free from criticism of your opinion.
Besides, it's fairly obvious why people feel compelled to cut off big areas of large houses when decorating. The item limit of 400 is 4 times that of an apartment, but the basement alone is already a larger area than 4 apartments! The item density is just way too sparse to implement some ideas if you insist on using the entire space.
who the hell has a good looking house without ANY bugs, glitches or floating techniques?
I was excited about this stream but wont bother now.
If I want vanilla ice cream i'll just go buy some.
