So I was reading the latest (I think) interview with Yoshi, and came across player homes. At first I was wondering how they would be implemented, but found out after I kept reading, that the homes will be instanced with not only our room, but a customizable garden? That made me pretty excited. I very much enjoyed having my room in FFXI and have actually focused on leveling carpentry in FFXIV so that I can make my own furniture when the time comes in the future.
And if you get a garden, do you also think you'll get a stable for your chocobos? Or do you think that will be handled at a town stable?
Do you think Herding will be added as a possible class?
Will you have to be a harvester to maintain your garden?
What kind of items do you think you'll be able to grow?
Don't get me wrong, I don't want this turning into Farmville, but I am curious about what they meant when they mentioned the garden. Maybe just decor, which would still be ok with me.
Also, perhaps I missed it, but do you think they'll make it so you can invite other players to your personal instance? They did it in FFXI (a few years after the game was released, but they still did it) I would hope they'd do it in XIV.
I may be able to record my gamplay and display it on youtube when I want to show it off, but I know not everyone is able to, especially PS3 players. (I know there are exceptions, but the majority of ps3 players cant record their footage). So I hope the ability to invite people in will be added. Even if it's not available at release.:D
I apologize if some of these questions have already been addressed in the interviews. I'm ashamed to admit, I skimmed through a lot of it. (Some just seemed like content that had already been addressed, or that Yoshi was unable to comment on).

That'd be cool if it came with a stable that way we could have multiple chocobos I saw that we'd be able to fight with them and raise them it'd be sweet if we could have different colors/jobs of them. And can visit them :3
I did gardening in FFXI alot I enjoyed it tons something small and minor but still requires a little attention. Gives me something to do inbetween events or when I can't find something to immediatly do!
I hope we can make furniture and items for our house and decorate it! And have party members come in! -

Will you have to be a harvester to maintain your garden? Assuming there will be a reg. garden, and you can make it nicer with your BTN. But yes it's been said that BTNs will be able to tend to their gardens and customize them.
What kind of items do you think you'll be able to grow? As of yet I've seen different herbs, fruits, and vegetables mentioned. -

Most of the answers have been answered by the TheFatHousecat. But I'll double confirm that we do get our personal stables for chocobo. Yoshi-P mentioned this on numerous occasions. Besides that I am /really/ looking forward to personal housing. But I really do hope that you can invite people in it. I always loved to furnish my moghouse and invite people of my linkshell into it. By the time I quit FFXI, I had like 3 different room setups that I used to rotate.
I've always been a fan ever since FFXI for a good personal house and I even enjoyed how the rpg game "White knight chronicles" the online mode did this. You received a piece of land that you could freely customize. Built a house on it that you liked, choose where to place your plantage and so on. Not saying that S-E need to go that far. In any case, looking forward to it!
Even though the western community doesn't seem to thrilled about this lol -

My immediate thought was like Legend of Mana, where you had your house, a garden where you could grow fruits and veggies, and a stable where you could raise monsters, and a lot of it had synergy (as well as golem making, instrument making, and armor and weapon making areas) Man that game was awesome. I personally am hoping for something like that.

Please please SE do not make this one of those features that is "like XI but severely downgraded and has less content"

They don't even have to add a lot of stuff at first. (Even though I really want them too.) Just some basic strong foundation where they can expand on as the game ages. It's not like battle classes won't have anything to do. I am thrilled to hear that having neighbors is an actual possibility. Yes I know that's it's been stated in the interview. But I'm keeping my expectations low. I'm really starting to think that they're getting their inspiration from "White knight Chronicles"(Which is a good thing!). However I only want to be able to invite people inside that I want too.
My house shall not become one of those npc houses in rpg's where adventurers walk inside and open my treasure chests for gold and items XD. Otherwise I'll be crafting a lawn chair and a shotgun. While sitting in my front yard with my straw hat and yelling to people. "Get outta my lawn!" -

I think what makes player housing much cooler than inns is that you would have that feeling of getting home, kicking off your shoes and just relaxing in a place that you've made a home with your own time, money and effort. Looking at your past achievements (if making trophies is possible) having various rooms to craft maybe (if they were to add synthesis support) being able to have a coeurl cub curled up on the sofa, and logging in, and seeing all your neighbors. I was a fan of the Sims, Animal Crossing and any game you could customize your house (Runescape back in the day :D)

I hope stables are available for breeding I would also like crafting facilities as well and maybe some npcs to buy/sell stuff to. Would be cool to set up some retainers also.
