Pity system for lottery

I've joined every single lottery now and lost every single one, while i cant say im happy about it rng is rng in the end. But its been an entire year now of trying to upgrade from my small, and by now im getting really scared because as it stands there is no guarantee ill get it whether i keep doing this for one year or five years. As such i hope we'd get some level of guarantee for us not blessed by lady luck by adding a pity system.

I've lost 41 myself between personal and FC. It's just completely heartbreaking to have been trying since ARR for a house and constantly failing. People always say "Just transfer!" but you shouldn't have to sacrifice being on a server with your friends/FC just to get something that every other Modern MMO (That isn't ArcheAge or Albion online...who have/had the same problem) has had seemingly no trouble with.

Just outright double the amount of plots. Who cares if some stay empty? That means new players won't have to worry about it.

Your Pity system wouldnt work. Because you wont be the only one with your suggested "Bad Luck Protection" to enter the next lottery. There will be others with the same "Bad Luck Protection" which are going to enter your lottery. So its still making sense to let it be 1 ticket per Personal.

I have lost 30 consecutive cycles, and decided this was the final one. Tired of being homeless in game. I unsubscribed a few minutes ago.

Are you really homeless in the game? There are free inn rooms, FC chambers, and apartments. If you want to be really bold, I'm sure Daddy Manderville would let you sleep in The Gold Saucer.

How about that pity? People without houses have a prio before people that have a House already? :P
Would be great. Less crying then from the loss. More crying for the douches that cry about getting no House when they already own one :3

So you're not complaining that you can't get a house.

You're complaining that you can't get a better house than what you already have.

You're not going to get much sympathy. Most players would enjoy a better house and won't be able to get it.

You're also not going to get what you want through a pity system. Too many other players want the same thing and they've been trying just as long as you.

Apartments are homes, too.

If you came to this game solely for the housing, it was a poor choice in the first place.

Out of curiosity, what game are you switching to that guarantees you a home? I'm sure others who feel the same way would be interested in it.

I think the point is - if someone does not have a home and starts a week ago...and someone has a home and been playing for years it can be very frusterating for the week old to surpass the long time player because of the simple fact that random chance is exactly that.

Besides if she upgrades her home and the new player gets her old one - they both win.

Why not just get an apartment and be happy with that then? The person that moves still frees up a plot for another person.

The exact same reason why giving "new characters" priority is a horrible idea.

You would give all of the houses to bots, meaning you'd still not get anything. As of right now, home owners and players looking to buy are on the same level. Both need to play Lottery Roulette. There isn't a "bonus" or positive to Home-owners with Relocation. There WAS Relocation capabilities, but people took advantage of it just to be antagonizing, so we all got slapped on the wrist.

As for "more crying for the douches"? You probably should take a step back. Sure, people may already have a home, but it could be in a plot they don't like. There's a reason people prioritized the lower rungs of the Goblet when Placard was present. They'd buy the plot, then immediately relocate to a more appealing spot.

The issue with suggestions like yours is this. There is a housing feature in the game. It comes *as part of the game*. Everyone who plays the game pays (for the most part) the same monthly fees to accesss *the same features of the game.* So if someone wants to access a feature that should be considered included in the price of the montly sub, and through no error on their end, but rather due to poor development, they cannot, then yeah, after awhile, it gets very very old.

An apartment -is not the same.
A FC room -is not the same (and requires access to the fc/that your fc doesn't kick you out)
An inn room -is most assuredly not the same.
The gold saucer -is not even a living space.

Yes, you can point to people on over-crowded and/or legacy servers and be like 'well you should move to a quieter one if housing is so important.' But that can place them off a data center that works for their playtimes, seperate them from friends, fc's and statics and isn't actually addressing the problem that was never player created but always is player punitive.

Yes, you can point out that some people should be thankful for what they have...but why? Why should someone be thankful for an apartment, when someone else, got lucky and got a house? Or why should someone with a small who wants a medium feel they aren't justified in wanting it? When the only reason they do not have it, is simple luck of the draw?

And the walk of shame back....that is honestly the most defeating, customer unfriendly feature of them all. Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to have people build up hope, that *finally* they might get something, only for them to have to collect their gil and then turn away, again empty handed....and again looking at what they lost, and many times, seeing someone excitedly making use of that same spot....someone you can't even be mad at because hey, a different roll of the dice and that could be you and not them.

But it still boils down to, people pay to play this game. Every other feature, if you want to do it, you can. There is a way. Through building a team, through leveling, through gear, through practice, through grind perhaps yes, but there is a way, and a way *the player themselves has 100% control of their progress and success.* Housing is none of these things.

So yes, the person you quoted, being so disheartened after trying so long to 'win' basically a bet, and finally giving up, is right to be disappointed and disgusted. And suggesting that they simply suck it up and accept anything less is honestly, quite belittling.

I'm going on 4 YEARS. A pity system should be added for people who have failed countless times. I wouldn't be upset if I entered a housing bid and lost to a person who's previously failed 20+ other bids. Doesn't have to be a guarantee, but at least a higher chance.

Considering the game has an in game mail system, you'd think it'd be easy to program a return of money so you don't physically have to look at the house you just lost for the xth amount of times. They don't use the in game mail feature, or they can't because of spaghetti code, I don't know. But we can't even get that courtesy, it seems.

Apartments are ridiculous in size. Like it should be called maid room, not apartment. Can’t upgrade it.
Small house is similar too, it’s basically an apartment x2.

FC room are temporary, in case of drama, it’s 300k down the drain. No thanks.

I know you’re joking but inn rooms? Can’t place furniture in them. At least stay consistent with your examples. :p

They don't mail due to capping mail at 1million gil per mail as a rmt lessening measure. I would think though a pop up once results posted would work. 'hey you won! go interact with the signboard to complete the transaction!' or 'we're sorry entry 1 won, you were 2, here's your refund'. ---but my suspicion with why this isn't added (and also one of the reasons the walk of shame irks me more) is because they kinda hope and want some players to bid and forget to collect their gil in the window, therefore making it a bit of a gil sink for non winners too.

Yeah, I'm sure they can fix it. Not like they will though. It's just stupid having to go collect the money again.

If a pity system is ever added, it should focus on providing a house to long time players who have never been able to obtain a house before and would be happy with the most undesirable plots. Not people looking to upgrade (hello?? we all are trying to do that), not picky people trying to go straight for a medium or large as their first one, not alts, not newbies and not uninterested people who declined a plot they won or let their plot demolish.

They could let a player bypass the lottery and buy a small plot directly from placard if 1) the plot has zero bids and isn't a first-class small plot, 2) that person has never won a bid or bought a personal house on their account before and 3) they have been eligible for at least 4 years.

Free companies do not need a pity system because they have their own wards which take a lot longer to fill.

AND because a FC can nuke bid a plot with as many bidding members as they have.
The only flaw I see is that you could use your method for someone to "release" their plot and inform a friend that they are doing so - allowing you to essentially transfer plots which was removed as a thing.

Good point. It could be limited to just the first bidding cycle of new ward releases. There are a number of unclaimed low value smalls in the new wards so I think giving priority to the handful of long time players who have never owned a house wouldn't hurt anyone.

I'd say it would be better if you could only own a Private House and FC House so that they don't get to dip their names in more lotteries :p

And if you want a nice vacation, there's entire free wards of houses in Materia
