Considering this is a text-based forum, a list of that information might be more valuable than someone's monetized YouTube video.
The patch notes already tell you where to unlock content.
I agree with a written list. while patch notes are a must for those wo want a concentrated and centered info to dig out.
not many will have time to pour out info with their Go GO gO mentality day 1.
so a bulletpointed list will do well here.
The place to unlock most content is either where the last quest finished or at Old Sharlayan. These guides are useful to their subscribers, most of who are going to be too casual to read patch notes or to think about where these things are unlocked. But I don't personally need to watch videos like this.
Wasnt aware posting a basic info video got this much static. Meoni is a long time FF 14 creator too.
Sheesh

Obvious to you, maybe not to others.
The thing is, making it a video inherently contradicts the "basic info" aspect of itself.
If I want to know where to go, I want a list to consult quickly to find the thing I am after, not a video presented in linear order.
From a skim of the patch notes:
QUEST STARTING POINTS FOR 6.3
MSQ: speak to Varshahn at Meghaduta in Radz-at-Han.
Shadowed Pasts side story: after completing the MSQ chapter, speak to the Radiant scout at the Hall of the Radiant Host in Radz-at-Han, same room as the previous segment of this questline.
Myths of the Realm: speak to Deryk in Mor Dhona, southeast of Revenant's Toll.
Tataru's Grand Endeavour: speak to Mehdjina at Tataru's shop in Old Sharlayan; requires completion of the Four Lords questline.
Island Sanctuary expansion: speak to the Curious Courier on your island.
***Edit/correction: it seems that this must be the concluding rather than opening quest; it starts with a pseudo-quest that wasn't listed in the patch notes. Still at your cabin, though.***
Anden's Custom Deliveries: speak to the "supplicant sheep" at the Crystarium aetheryte plaza.
Also, can now swim and dive in the lake in upper La Noscea - teleport to Camp Bronze Lake.
Maybe I am past that age but reading is much faster and convenient than a video for this kind of stuff. Vids can be useful to watch a fight for the visuals but other than that I prefer good written guides: apart speed, it's much easier to refer to them and it is possible to easily jump to the relevant/needed parts (goes with a lot of guides, not just gaming). Oh and there's no sound which means I can listen to something else.
A thousand times this. I can read and comprehend the information faster than a video can present it. Many videos are also poorly subtitled or not subtitled at all, making a read of the transcript futile. I can also search the patch notes for a term and have the information I want half a second after the page loads, which is much faster than I can scrub through a video for it. Iscah's post above is the right length for presenting a patch todo list: it contains the information with fairly concise wording and a compact format. And finally, it doesn't require going to some other site that I would already have been browsing instead of the official forums, if I wanted to get information from a site other than the official forums.
Aside from everything already mentioned, this thread serves no other purpose than to redirect users off to another site. You're literally just advertising. Nobody likes ads. Or... are you also one of those people spamming shout chat for your FC or channel or venue or whatever else I instantly gloss over?
The least you could've done is provided something in the way of your own input, to justify the existence of this thread.
Meoni is a long term content creator who has posted videos with invaluable advice for years. I am not "advertising" anything, but rest assured, from now on I wont be posting any resources or help sites on this forum.Quote:

Its reputation is well earned.
I think the issue is instead of directing people to the official source, you're picking a youtuber who will ultimately just profit off free clicks & watch time since you can't just quickly find the info you're specifically looking for. There's also a chance that their information will be incorrect because people do make mistakes and don't always double check their work. It might not have been your intention to come off as an advertiser but that's unfortunately the perspective that many will have. Personally I flat out refuse to watch the majority of FF content creators that arent comedy based (especially Zepla) because most of the time their content is just regurgitated from other websites who explain it better than they do.
It's just a better idea to send people right to the mouth of the horse via the patch notes. That's all.
While I love things that are more bite-sized for patch notes and "here's where this unlocks", other content creators will just make a graphic, or reddit will have threads of all the important unlocks.
While it may not be necessary, most people don't want to have to do too much work to find what they want, just that they want the info immediately. Having a graphic you can skim quicker than the patch notes or a reddit thread with a bullet point list works better.
Meoni is great for other things like showing off mounts/glam/visuals, but personally I wouldn't go looking for a video for unlocks unless it's a visual walkthrough of something - needed one of those for FFXI a month or so ago because I kept getting lost trying to get to where I needed to be or looking for a spot on the ground for something (no graphical alerts to say HEY, RIGHT HERE DUMMY and every single ??? can be for anything, not just what you're actually looking for.)
Man we really must be that bored to start arguing over whether somebody makes a video on a thing or not.
Ya'll need to chill. Some people retain info better through visuals and audio than reading, so the more options there are other than just the long live letter and patch notes, the better it is for others to digest info. This video is appreciated all the same to people who want it.
You are advertising a video but that's whatever, it's fine. This isnt thing specific about ff14, I have seen threads like this one on the warframe forums about its content creators with pretty much identical replies. Hating content creators seems to be the number 1 forum rule.
Not just you. I prefer written guides for almost everything. Mostly why I've stopped looking at guides at all for fights now, even savage. Written guide with diagrams is so much better than a video.
But videos get them money so that's where they went. So I don't watch.
Don't know why you're getting the hate. It's useful information for some people and Meoni isn't some money grubbing upstart trying to get views or anything.
The general stuff is the MSQ will be in your top left and will make a map marker for you to go to (I think it'll probably start in Radz since that's where the most recent MSQ ended) and the 24 man will start in the Baldession Annex most likely, or if not that, in the sky platform zone itself that you get to from Mor Dhona. New Custom Delivery will start either in Crystarium or Il Mehg. And once you finish the MSQ, you can go to the Minstrel in Sharl to tell him the story and unlock the Ex.
I'm not sure the other stuff is coming until 6.35 anyway...
EDIT: And note I say all this as a person that also prefers reading to watching videos, but I get that there is some value in visual media (showing map locations and the like) and that some people DO prefer videos. Maybe I don't. Maybe some of you don't. But that doesn't mean it's a bad link/post or that no one will find it useful. Be chill, folks.
He's getting critique because it was just a link to the youtube video. If he did a quick concise post like Iscah did, and then ended with, "If you'd like more information on what we're getting, Meoni has a vid going into details on that," nobody would have batted an eye. People who wanted the quick list would have gotten it, and may have clicked to see Meoni's video to see what other information there is on it.
Frik it Ill open a yt channel
I do think that this post is redundant with the patch notes readily available to read now, but I do get what the OP was trying to do. Nothing wrong with at least attempting to be helpful, though I do think it could have been handled a bit better, both in concept and how the OP conducted themselves. Some of the responses from other people also tell me that some of the posters in this thread could have handled themselves better, too. Either way it's a mess.
Good job. Would rather read something (similar to patch notes) than watch a 4min video explaining what could be explained in less than 20 seconds. Thank you.
Every Youtube video always associated with catgrills and lizzers, and I don't like it :)
