The current adventurer plate system is so bad

Honestly, the beta one was kind of better. Removing the ability to add portraits to adventurer plate directly is a change that boggles all reasonable comprehension. Yeah, I better hope my next portrait turns up well, coz I sure can't, idk, save the current one and go back?!

Literally, all you had to do when going from the beta, was adding all the emotes, more customization options, and a frame by frame slider. That's it, that's literally all you had to do. Quit trying to be smart, you're not.

The beta worked much better, I agree. Having portraits on their own and then be able to assign them to gear sets, instant protrait and adventure plate as needed was far better. Even changing glams is needlessly annoying now because you have to update both the gearset and then the portrait on top of that to make the portrait work for the display at the start of CC. Having multiple different portraits for the same role is also needlessly janky now as you need to create a copy of the gear set to be able to swap between two portraits that you made.

The portrait system at once can handle having different glams and cant handle it. If you change glam, update it in the gearset and open the portrait window, it clearly shows how easy it can adjust to the different glams. But if you dont go into the edit of that portrait the game can not use it and reverts to default portrait. But you dont need to change anything, you just open the edit screen, hit save and it's done. Just janky for no reason.

It would just straight up be better to revert to the portrait beta.

We can only wait and see what 6.3 brings along in adjustments to the System.
I don't remember the details, though I'm sure if you looked up the LL translations you can catch up on some of the adjustments to the system.<I hope my mind wasn't fogged at the time due to busy-ness. but I believe I recall some back and forth between the plate and sets. but again, taken with a fog of salt.>

I like how I have one portait I like and like 30 differnet gear sets of my character just staring blankly into the grey void

I also have to agree that the beta version was much better, and even easier to work with. I think this is an example of the devs trying to do too much, and it's more like a discount gpose system that falls short of even that.

All I really want is to just snapshot my character, and when I am satisfied with how it looks, just apply it to the plate. I don't need all this stuff with gearsets, current job, backgrounds, borders, and all the other nonsense.

You want to know why you will always find crying kids at Baskin Robins, home of 31+ flavors? Too many choices. It stresses them out.

I agree; I liked the beta version more than the current one.

It's also far too easy (in both versions of the system) to accidentally detach the portrait from your current gearset and have it revert to the default, apparently without any warning until you're in the CC opening cutscene and seeing your character's blank stare. It's going to be exponentially more annoying once the portraits start getting shown for all dungeons, unless the devs relent on the whole "image must match your current appearance" thing.

It's a pet peeve of mine but honestly I hate that you can't even delete portraits...I don't want one for every job I have - why would I ever care about having a portrait as a carpenter, I just want to make furniture, not appear in the front cover of a magazine, and that's not even mentioning how annoying it is when changing gearsets, let alone Fantasia.

Seems very counter productive to their initial beta system. Why would they demolish saved 7-9 portrait system in favor of a separate portrait for each job, so nearly 30ish...
Why would anyone think that's a better system boggles my mind, hell you can't even have multiple ones for your plate anymore, you gotta remake it every time you wanna change.

"Unable to use as instant portrait. Portrait does not fulfill the necessary requirements." Aaaaarg.

Is there a quick way to reset the instant portraits when you fantasia? It's obnoxious having to reset each job individually just because I've switched races. And like you said, why do we even need portraits for half of these jobs?

I miss the old system so much. ._. Loved being able to save a few different pictures to apply as the mood hit.

The new system is frustrating and counter intuitive. I also enjoyed having a few saved portraits I could use. Now it's just set and forget.

i too personally prefer the beta just because it didn't delete my instant portrait when i changed anything on my gear set or toggled my helm off/on

It feels like a chore imo.
If I save a portrait for pvp and I change my weapon for that set the portrait is already not working anymore and I q in just staring into the void blankly -_-

The beta was alot better. Im hoping they take some of this input to implement some of the old features back in.

- I liked having multiple for one job vs one for evey job
- why are we forced to make it so we look forward (though even slightly works its still terrible) to save the portrait.
- the error for pvp where it shows default because if you dont press the update gear button on the actual set.
- pretty much any change in gear that makes it go back to default

I liked the beta also, since they changed it the long hair on my character is like cardboard....it was quite nice in the beta and I was able to make it so my character's hair was across her shoulder but now it just sits like a piece of stiff card at the back >.<

That second one is likely to combat the "NSFW" Portraits that initially emerged, with zoom-ins on female Miqo'te /pose or the kicked-out foot in /sulk, hehe...

Which hasn't done much to combat it, people who want to make a horny plate still do. the zoom in on miqo'te eyes up still exists. The /pose miqo'te still exist. Hell, I've seen more creativity in making nsfw ones now rather than before.
All this did was just screw with our ability to make different angles. You can still block your face with your shiny relic and the system still allows it lol

It really feels like this is the beta and that version was the full release

Right now it's just for Crystalline Conflict, but from next week's patch the portraits are going to be displayed at the beginning of dungeons.
