Hello, my account got scammed by a Gil raffle, how can I recover my account?
Probably by not falling for it next time, it's also extremely obvious, if you fall for it... seriously.
;-; Im sorry I just did not know, if someone can help please!
Yea they will return on the other day, dammit I feel stupid
Is this post being made by the account that was compromised?
They usually just ban it temporarily and support isn't available on new year.
You can recover your password at https://support.na.square-enix.com/c...t=ID%20Unknown
If they deleted your characters and other information you can submit a data recovery request (but I have seen people say it takes months and they can't do anything in those months because it will all be reverted) http://support.na.square-enix.com/fa...aqtop&c=3&sc=0
Yes this is the compromised Account, thank you for the info Jeeqbit
When will people learn to not visit links sent by strangers?
Good lord, y'all don't need to be so nasty about it.
Anyway, what Jeeqbit said, but for the future, always check urls coming to you - the scammy ones will end with something not .com, or look like they do but instead of ".com/ffxiv/threads" for the forums, it'll be like ".com.xyz.co/ffxiv". If you know you have an account on the forums and are already logged in but it's showing you aren't, never put in your info.
If you don't already have 2fa, you can get the free security token on the Google Play store or the Apple store. Just make sure to write down your emergency token removal code for if you have to swap phones or whatnot (info on those is here, you can also use Google authenticator and some others listed on their FAQ page for them!) While a 2fa wouldn't have helped in this case sadly, it does stop other attempts to get into your account by bad actors.
Assuming you're a new player, if you haven't lost much (just a few million gil) I wouldn't do the data recovery. As said it can take months, and since you can't do anything else you'll lose it all, you'd technically be losing out.
Sorry some people are nasty about it, but good luck getting your account back. I also strongly encourage the security token too!
Eh, young kids always have a first. In the greater scheme of things, losing your new mmo account is like the best way to make this mistake, and not when you're like 70 trying to retire and get your actual bank account liquidated.
I don't blame young people for making mistakes. That's just what young people do! All I can say is that if you or others have young people in your lives, just educate those around you.
Hey everyone!
I managed to get my account back! Also I put a security token as well.
Thank you all for the suggestions posted here and sorry for the trouble this caused.
Oh wow. I'm glad that not only did you get your account back but it was so swiftly!
I think everyone falls for a scam at least ONCE in their life. I for one back in my Diablo 2 days got duped out of some gear when I was told they could duplicate items if you drop it on the ground and then Alt F4.
A fair trade if you ask me. They got my items and I learned how to quickly close a program immediately.
Actually, Square Enix could easily solve the phishing issue implementing Passkey support.
The newest thing in security it's supposed to be much more secure since it uses fingerprints instead of name and password.
maybe i’m old and out of touch, but i don’t think the average house hold has a finger print scanner
Well ... pretty much everyone on Earth has a cellphone nowadays. Cellphones enable the use of Passkeys, they are useless otherwise.
Nah, I am good it is much easier for people to simply stop being naïve and falling for too good to be true raffles / scams. Even my grandmother who 90 knows and my niece who is 4 knows not to click on links not sent from someone they personally know or sound too good to be true without asking someone first.
