It's time to remove job restriction from glamour.

Artifact gear can remain job specific for identity and story purposes, that's fine. The new alliance raid gear looks nice, but as a caster main I am tired of robes and dresses. Lemme glamour the new fending set as a RDM please. We already have people beating up the final boss naked or in an elephant costume, why can't casters wear armor or tanks wear robes.

The problem is that the glamour dresser is also storage so what's added remains an actual item. Some players want to be able to equip the gear they place in the glamour dresser at a later date.

If you remove the role restriction, you'd have to turn the item into a different piece of gear. The role restriction couldn't be restored to it if the player wanted to use the item again.

There are other solutions that SE could have chosen but with the current design, removing role restriction when placed in the glamour dresser wouldn't work.

I'm not sure how the coding will work, but when applying a glamour, isn't it just putting up the graphic of the gear in question onto your character? Is there a need to check for the specific stats of the gear?

The glamour system is an absolute mess so this will never happen. Like, come on, we are celebrating over getting more space in our dresser when such things as '' space '' shouldn't even be an issue. I would kill for nightsteel armor of fending on maiming classes but I just have to accept that that will never happen.

I get you, but it doesn't hurt to let them know this is something we want.

The two go together. If you had compared items like I suggested, you would see that. Items like the elephant costume are All Classes and Level 1, so that it can be worn by any job.

What you're asking for is not a new request. There are several megathreads on general. They're not going to budge on this because it would require reworking the armor system.

I agree this should be implemented. If it hits the glamour dresser it becomes 1/1 all. If it needs to be restored the item name is already there to cross reference what the stats should be on removal. As far as lore goes I see so many people in bikinis or undies we have already thrown lore out the window. As for armor being reworked I think it needs it. There are way to many levels and sets in the game.

You're overlooking the fact that this will double the item count on all armor in the game.

Glamour (or transmog) is probably one of the most important things in this game for many people, so the glamour system deserves to be as intuitive and practical as humanly possible!
Just adding more space for items to be put into your glamour inventory is a mere band aid, and no actual solution.
I don't want to think about wether I'd consider glamming a piece of armor in the future, or if I should sell it.
Thinking about stuff like that only makes it harder for me to manage my inventory and costs time that I would like to spend otherwise.
I don't know how hard it is for the devs to implement a transmog system like WoW has, but if there is a game that should have it, it's FFXIV

The way they been tackling issues like this already is by duplicating items with the [all classes, lvl 1] modifiers.
If not already, they should look into revamping the glamour system.

I am not sure how the code is, but they should tie the glamour (maybe through the galmour's id in code) to the armor, and then pull up a reference of the glamour's model to override the armor's model.

Though changes like this could effect various other things that they might be using the glamour system for. (like changing of NPC clothes)
