Several SMN actions missing from action list or have wrong/incomplete tooltips

Summoner has been a mess since the rework and its skill list has not been properly updated. Compare the action listed on the official website https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/jobguide/summoner/ with what we have in-game. Almost all unassignable actions below level 58 are missing and need to be added. Specifically:

• All Gemshine/Precious Brilliance actions below 58 (e.g., Ruby Outburst) are missing. Very confusing to find out how much damage each skill does because the base tooltips are uninformative. However, they are listed on the website, which means they forgot to add them in-game.

• The tooltips for Summon Egi spells are wrong. They claim that the egis use Inferno/Earthen Fury/Aerial Blast, but this is incorrect below level 50, because they actually use Burning strike/Rock Buster/Aerial Slash.

• In addition, there is almost no reference to the skills Burning strike/Rock Buster/Aerial Slash in the action list and tooltips, except for the level 50 trait Enkindle.

This is really a shame because although SMN has the easiest skill rotation in the game, the action list and tooltips are very confusing. We shouldn't have to google SMN's skill list to find out what our actions do, this information should be available in-game.

No. They're talking about the actions which replace Gemshine and Precious Brilliance after you spend a gemstone arcanum to activate an elemental aspect.

These actions are not presented in the Actions window and the Action Help for Gemshine and Precious Brilliance do not list the potencies for those spells. When one wants to recall the potency for such a spell this is inconvenient because it requires you to go somewhere with enemies, hit them with Aethercharge/Bahamut, wait for Aethercharge to wear off, use a gemstone arcanum, then look at new Action Helps for Gemshine and Precious Brilliance before your elemental aspect wears off.

The aspected Rites and Catastrophes that replace aspected Ruin III and Outburst at Lv72 and Lv82, respectively, are present in the Actions window.

The Summon I spells do correctly state that the egis use Burning Strike, Rock Buster, and Aerial Slash when you are syncked below Lv50. You can confirm this by entering a sub-50 dungeon syncked. The Action Helps will incorrectly state that the egis perform the Enkindle attacks if you reach Lv50 but have not done the Lv50 job quest yet. This is a common problem among jobs that have quest-locked Traits that enhance existing Actions. See Thread: Error with SMN tooltip text (Lv 50) and Thread: Spineshatter Dive in the Localization forum.

Someone doesn't know how to properly read traits...or read in general it seems

The potencies for the spells referred to by OP are not listed in any trait or action that can be read outside of combat.

Oh I see what you mean, it's like the potency numbers changing depending on your level. Nevertheless, having to be level synced+in combat+under the arcanum effect+limited time to see what a spell does is... bad design. The tooltips are basically missing and it's easier to google it. They can just add all these actions as unassignable actions and the problem will be solved.

No. The schema established by the dev team is that for each unassignable action that replaces another button, one of two things is true:

A) The action's effects, potency, and cost can be read in the Action Help for the action it replaces, and the action it replaces is in the Action list (i.e., Earthly Star's Stellar Detonation)
or
B) The action is in the Actions list and includes its own Action Help that tells you its effects, potency, and cost (i.e., Gemshine's Ruby Rite)

Based on this established schema, users can reasonably expect that the spells listed in my post above should also have their effects, potencies, and costs viewable in either the Action Help for Gemshine/Brilliance or in their own Action Help that is available in the Actions list. Adding all fifteen actions to SMN's Action list would be a lot, and it may not be bad design to exclude them from the Action List. However, it is bad design not to include those actions' effects in the Action Helps for Gemshine and Precious Brilliance so that players who want to know their potencies are not under the burden of having to enter combat just to look up the numbers.

The current bad Action Helps for Gemshine and Precious Brilliance are as follows:

Even more detailed Action Helps would be more consistent with the style and format of the Action Helps for other actions in the game, for example:

However, just including the potencies and cast times as in the previous suggestions would be "enough".

All I've ever found the need to worry about with these skills is:

Fire has a long cast time but hits hard
Earth has a mid cast time and hits mid damage
Wind has a fast cast time for low damage.

Pick which one to use and when based on how much you need to move at the moment. No point in trying to cast fire when you have to rapidly move to avoid attacks after all.

I would think it's "enough" because we don't worry about Elemental Affinities like we used to back in ARR and HW. Monsters in particular don't have elemental weaknesses either.

If anything, your potencies are shown in the spells that they change into in the Actions menu if you bothered to look and not nitpick on one thing that actually has no bearing on the actual spell that is going to be cast itself. Besides, as Adeacia said, you have three summons to use before bringing out your Demi. It's rather simple in reality what element you're going to hit with based on the summon.

They are not. The aspected spells prior to the Rites and Catastrophes are not in the Actions list at all. You cannot look up their potencies without going out of your way to enter combat.

doesnt surprise me SE forgot to add the tooltips for Ruby Ruin 3 etc, since they also just reused the VFX for regular Ruin 3, it looks exactly the same, they should have just had Ruby/Topaz/Emerald Rite/Catastrophe from the getgo, and have it upgrade in potency via traits the whole way, since it looks super scuffed at like level 60 to go from casting Ruin 3 to summoning Ifrit-Egi and then... Casting Ruin 3, but s l o w e r
