Two suggestions/questions.. One for a Bard RW & 2nd for a crossover

So I was wondering if anyone else think the Bard should get reworked to operate much like how the Bard in Lost Ark does.. Obliterating enemies with magic music

2nd and most importantly

Anyone else hoping for a Chrono Trigger & Xenogears crossover event?

A Lavos raid boss would be amazing especially with the phases
Minions like Larval form Lavos, some of the enemies & main characters
Have areas from the game like Magus's castle

For Xenogears we can have a ID raid battle where you fight ID and then his Weltall
All the gears would make perfect mounts and minions

Orchestral scores from the games... I mean Square made both of the games and hearing a FF version of Red Knight...*Pitches a "tent"*

What do you guys think would go good with those crossovers?

Bards in DnD had a lot of support they could do and were also rather decent at nearly everything "Trick of the trades" perk and all...so them using a bow isn't far fetched but honestly I think Bard should have been it's own thing with Archer turning in Ranger. Maybe make it a split thing kinda like hard Arcanist goes to Summoner or Scholar.

I could see Xenogears doing a Deep Dungeon like HoH with Tower of Babal.

Vagrant Story to me makes the most sense for a cross over cause of the following reasons.

1. Ownd by them

2. They already have enemy models from the game used.

3. They already have some of the music.

4. It takes place in Ivalice.

Both are highly unlikely unfortunately - the Chrono games have been kind of ignored by modern SE for some reason and are just.. there, and Xenogears has the whole issue over IP rights with Monolithsoft, so that is even less likely for a crossover.

I mean, we sort of kind of have a Xenogears reference in the game already with Gaius's Legatus armour being clearly based on Grahf, but an actual crossover probably sadly won't ever happen (it doesn't help that most crossovers tend to be connected to current games or licenses, not past ones - this is probably why we haven't got a FFVII crossover event for example despite it being SE's most popular title and the personal favourite of Yoshi himself - so that's another nail in the coffin for this I'm sorry to say. :(

It would be lovely if they did something for that game, seeing as how the 25th anniversary is this week.

I made a post asking for a Xenogears crossover some time ago as well. Still hoping they'll do it eventually. A scaled down Welltall-Id would make a great mount reward. Could maybe throw in Fei, Id, and Elly's outfits as well.

Chronotrigger I wouldn't mind a crossover for some of the costumes. As for the whole SE abandoning it thing. IMO Chronotrigger isn't part of a series. Chrono Cross was just it's own standalone abomination of a game that literally felt like everyone came up with their own filler stories and characters then mashed them together and called it a game. Chronotrigger on the other hand is still considered by many to be a gold standard in JRPGs. Because of this SE is most likely walking on eggshells in regards to the title. Cross got it's "remaster" because there wasn't much chance of receiving backlash for changes made to it. In terms of Chronotrigger though I doubt fans would accept any changes to the game aside from a visual update making all the in game sprites look more like Akira Toriyama's artwork and possibly a few new post game dungeons. However anything that remotely changed the existing game story or gameplay would probably hit severely harsh criticism.

Xenogears I think the biggest roadblock is that Xeno line of games has moved away from them as Monolith broke away later having the Xenosaga series of games published under Namco which then later moved to work with Nintendo for the Xenoblade Chronicles series of games after Namco merged with Bandai because they felt they weren't being given the creative freedom they needed to make the games they wanted.

Bard does not need a rework. It's fine the way it is.

in my opinion i think bard needs a serious rebranding (and by extension, rework).

the current iteration of bard plays almost NOTHING like an actual bard as of compared to popular games such as dnd, or even classic final fantasy titles. its really just an archer that keeps a harp on its back to prove i can play one, but dosent actually really even utilize the music it boasts --in fact if it didn't literally have the name BARD branded right next to its emblem i wouldn't even be able to tell that it was one at all. the current bard it actually plays closer to a ranger, where as a real bard would be a Magic dps, or a Healer with party wide buff and debuff utility.

If they reworked bard in to being a support class, then they have to rework dancer since it is a main support class just like bard.

Bard comes from Archer, and without removing all the Archer actions like they removed Arcanist actions on Scholar, it will continue to inherit Archer actions and resemble an Archer more.

but that's the problem. the class is more Archer than it is Bard. You could just reskin all of the "music" abilities as an animal whistle or call, and rename the class "Ranger", and it would make perfect sense, with a gameplay loop to boot.

Square-Enix still holds the rights to Xenogears. The other Xeno titles are beyond their reach, but everything concerning the original is very much still within SE's purview.

Bard in Silkroad Online is more in line with what i envision for a Bard class.

Pure support, Grants buffs to allies, Debuffs to enemies and deals damage by amplifying notes on a harp with magic.

I wish, we had a dedicated 'Support' role in XIV seperated from Physrange.
