[Suggestion] PLD and War Drum

I don't know if anyone else would agree with me but I think this could make PLD a better tank for aoe hate. Instead of War Drum being activated only after a successful block like Phalanx, it should maybe always be available to PLD's instead of the 60 seconds cooldown. Or maybe reduce the cooldown to x-seconds. Another direction could be, make War Drum cost like 250tp to use or like 500tp or something with 0 cooldown. What do you guys think?

PLD really isn't a bad tank. You already have flash, so use it in addition to war drum for AOE provoking.

This here. The ability is fine as it is, but the damage as well not be there considering the damage is weak and it's subject to miss.

Paladin has enough abilities to AoE tank. The problem is that when you are in AoE situations, monsters die and more pulls come so quickly that Paladin can't keep up. Their AoE abilities are on fairly long cooldowns whereas Warrior can spam Overpower when Steel Cyclone or Whirlwind are on CD. Maybe if Phalanx had the same kind of AoE as Overpower, they'd be more even. After the last change, it seems like Warrior parries almost the same amount as Paladin blocks on monsters around their level.

But then who wants both tanks to be able to do all the same stuff?

I see that as both tanks are equally effective at their jobs and players can freely choose to play either classes as they like instead of stacking wars most of the time.
Both classes still plays differently, PLD can't match WAR's dmg output but he should be better at defensive abilities (which he already is) i honestly would prefer more AoE hate grabbing abilities or at least cutdown on Wardrum's Cooldown or allow it to be used independently..etc.

I agree it would be nice if War Drum can be activated without blocking.

all i know is I reaaaally miss circle slash.

I know we can tank right now with what we have but being able to use War Drum more often can make us even better. It's just a suggestion.

Gladiator/Paladin needs an AoE weapon skill. Only class/job without one.

I could see it. Last combo effect after flat blade. Paladin stabs the ground and a holy light appears from the skies dealing damage to all nearby enemies with a chance to blind.

I see absolutely no reason why PLD shouldn't get circle slash back (hopefully with an enmity combo bonus). War Drum and Flash are clearly not enough to hold hate on a pack of mobs for anything longer than the first few seconds of a fight (there are also other significant issues with us having only 2 reliable AoE threat tools on longish cooldowns), and it's not like our AoE damage is going to be anywhere near Warrior's.

It's one thing for WAR to have a situational advantage over PLD (AoE Tanking/AoE Damage), but another entirely to have PLD be comparatively ineffective for a very important role (AoE threat and generating snap aggro on multiple incoming mobs). It does not make sense for a premier and specialized tank to be so powerless in a very important scenario.

TLDR; War Drum is an under-tuned ability by any metric (this needs to be buffed regardless of what you add to the class), and Circle Slash would be a welcome and reasonable addition to PLD's arsenal.

Like someone mentioned, if we could just get Circle Slash back, that would be great. I just came back to the game about 2 months ago and while I was leveling I was asking myself "where is my Circle Slash?" Why did SE get rid of it?

Ideally, all War Drum needs is a reduced cooldown and a slight buff to the damage or enmity modifier. I do agree that it should be looked at, however.

PS: Bring back Circle Slash
