Oh this again .. yea people said no.
i gotta admit, it is frustrating that the search feature isn't being used. hope they really push people to use it in 2.0
people would rather shout in ul'dah and wait all day even if all the people they need are LFP in the search.
Gungnir's JP timezone has been using it heavily, there has not been a day without PUG instanced raid/hamlet for me. Yay for gungnir.
Japanese players make use of it, but i never know what they are actually trying to do - language barrier and so on... (I also doubt they would accept me but that is a different problem)
another thing is that you can't use auto-translated terms while putting up a search comment when looking for a party.
to be honest i almost lost all hope that people finally grow a brain and use the damn thing...
its such a pity cause it has EVERYTHING people where screaming for since launch (except that icon over your head)
the day people use it instead of shouting will be a glorious one...but very cold day in hell T.T
I find it so tedious go through the 50 menus, the fact you need a manual to learn it (apparently?) just makes it more inaccessible.
And you only last 1 hour in it? I seek longer than that.
I havent been invited once using it, so now i dont bother XD
I always get garbage invites using it. Just leveled bard from 1-50 and used it constantly after level 25. I got zero actual invites, eight garbage invites and one ifrit (lol?) invite. I used the comment "Level BRD Looking for an experience points party."
Garbage invites= Hello, do you need a party? Me: Yes, please. They invite and the party is for war, pld, blm, whm etc AF body quest and ask me to switch to a level 50 job.
It's not just 'waiting to get invite', actually there is party search function u can determine yourself if you want 'actual join' to the party.
1: switch to your prefer class/job (skipable if you know select the class from the menu)
2: press "-" on ur numpad
3: go to 'party'
4: 'search'
5: "begin search" (here you can change your prefer class)
6: there you go a list of party leader name with looking for your prefer class for different content.
7: click on the name to check any content you interest n 'join' button to join the party.
I'm curious still many ask me to invite and many dun want to use it even i asked to (obviously playerbase refuse to learn something 'new')
The party search you have pictured there is actually garbage, so it's no wonder most people completely ignore it. The player search system works much better and I frequently find people though it (though most group leaders I meet seem completely oblivious), but it has the major flaw of not allowing searching by name. Sometimes you just want to see if someone is online/where someone is, but I haven't been able to figure out how. It has some nice features but overall it's still not as usable as the FFXI search.
im going to start using this instead of shouting.. everybody would need to mame that change for it to work successfully in the end.
Greetings!
In patch 1.22c we will be adding the below to the list of objectives for party member search:
- Primal battles
- Beastmen stronghold attacks
- Hamlet Defense
- Caravan Defense
- NM
- Leveling
- Behest
- Rallying
(Please note the English category names are not yet finalized.)
Hurray! :D
Did I miss something? What exactly is "rallying", per se?
It was explained over in Rein's translation thread. Basically it's a translation of a Japanese term used when they break a party temporarily to farm stuff but leave the party invite open with the type set to "rally" so people can just join back in when they're done with whatever they're doing.
Ah, many thanks.
Every time I see parties in the search function I only see JP players who use it. Every time I go to join one of their Primal fights I get ousted or see at the end of the party comment "JP Only." No English speaking players use this ever and its a shame.
yeah these days getting more and more JP ONLY at our server, but i still manage to get into some pt. EN player never use it they used to 'invite method' which i really dunno why. Till now when im forming party, SO MANY asking to invite and refuse join via party search, i wont invite him either. Even im shout in auto-translation, JP always join via it, but EN meh
That's nice. Can we search for people by name?
Put them on your social list if you need to see if someone is on.
If Rallying is something that lots of players already do then V2.0 should have an option for a party leader to disband his party with this in mind.
List it as "Disband and Rally" or something and have it so all party members can just click an icon when they're done and they'll be added back to the party.
Its not a deal breaker but it would be a very nice ease of use feature to have.
I wish I could just do
Search -> Quest -> [quest name] -> looking for members . :D
Once 'a few' people have the same quest you get a message telling you that you're not the only one, or you get an auto invite. lol
Of course it would need more parameters like lvl range or jobs (and more than one quest slot!!), but I always dreamed about something like this since XI.
Why do I have to shout for hours in Ul'dah? That's NOT fun! Even the current search function is better than that.
I hate to say this, but the current community isstu... not smart. No, really.
No offence. :D
This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You don't use it, because you think nobody else will, too. Of course it's never going to work, if you keep this mindset.
I really hope, that SE puts waaaay more effort into tutorial quests (not just one) that teach you from the very beginning. At lvl 50 people are waaaay too stubborn to learn something new.
I think Warhammer Online did this right by forcing you into an 'LS' at a certain point of the game, so you know what it is like. Maybe SE can do something similar with party search? This is an MMO after all. :(
I so can't wait for Content Finder~
I'd rather party with 'random strangers' than shout for more than 2 minutes in Ul'dah.
I have enough from that from XI to last the next three MMOs. lol
i agree, shouting to form parties is a little archaic. I think it should still be an option, but for random partying content finder will be much more efficient. you won't have to worry about asking someone if they have the appropriate jobs etc.
And of course we'll always have the option to party with our close friends and LS mates, so really, I can't wait for the content finder.
I have to say this is my thought as well. My experience has always been best doing it the old-school way. Find people using the player search system who are on a suitable class/level, send a tell and see what comes of it. Managed to put together a six-hour party together that way with five of the people staying for the entirity of the six hours. Was fantastic for experience, fantastic for chatter, fantastic for meeting new people and just overall enjoyable. We start off asking the English people who are sitting around in towns (my girlfriend and I are rather social so this helps) but are not averse to asking people of other languages and make full use of Google Translate to ensure nobody is left out. I find Google Translate especially useful when we are waiting around because I can only imagine that people who don't speak English could get really confused as to how things are progressing. But yeah, player search is key for me, so much easier and people are often happy to join up. We once managed an 8 person party in five minutes, although the six-hour session probably took about 10-20 minutes to put together. I find it gets faster results than the party search feature, too.
Great.... another list of scroll... can you add like 10000 more to make it more Inconvenient.
just let us type it... it's much faster then click click click click click.
I want the some old system search where i can do
/see paladin 40-50 all
/see paladin 40-50 seek
/see 40-50 all
(Let the player type in what they are searching for in there own Search box)
I'm telling any new player asking about leveling to first use search, then shout. New players tend to use those systems more often, while the old players seem to stick to shouting even though there are people seeking in that range.
News flash, you've been able to do most of this for months now.
As I said to that other dude, just stick everybody you meet on your Social List. It doesn't send them any confirmation like FF11's friend list, it's purely for your own reference. It lets you see when people are on and you can invite them straight from there. Easier than searching IMO although I do think they need to add name searching.Quote:

JP side also got another update on this one today they forgot to mention one more category for Artifact AF so that will also be in 1.22c update along with all the other categories mentioned already. ^^
Yes please, something simple like just the name. Got already all kind of search except once again, the most basic, simple and imo useful one. Don't tell me the UI can't handle it until 2.0, if it can handle all dungeons, jobs and zones and whatnot, why can't we still not search by name?
