It hasn’t been a month though. The server was released at the beginning of November and the month isn’t over yet. I also don’t understand why people seem to think that a brand new server which most people rolled new characters on instead of transferring old ones to is immediately going to function the same as older servers. Give it more time. They haven’t even released all the worlds for the server yet.
Because the majority of people that moved over were looking for housing/the free 1m gil bonus for leveling to 30 so now that they have it theres no reason to be active there if they have priorities in other places. Plus people would rather go to other DCs to get insta-queues than wait in line and help it grow. Sucks but I don't think anyone should really be shocked over that. You'll have to work around it while we're in a dead period patch wise and might not even see massive pop increase till 7.0 when the new expansion and graphics update brings people back/new people in.
This time of year is kinda dead. This end of the patch cycle is quiet as well. It was supposed to launch back in August with the launch of a patch. Things will pick up eventually, but probably not until 6.3
A lot of people are satisfied with Dynamis. They get to have their house while also going back to their home DC to queue with friends. This is what many people wanted to begin with, including Square. Their design is to have one DC function as a hub for content (Aether, Mana) while the others are either social or for your house. We're also in the content lull, which is by design so that you can play other games published by Square Enix. You're not really supposed to be queueing for content right now unless you're progging the tier.
Game as a whole is in a low point right now, and the advent of DC travel honestly even killed a lot of content on Crystal.
Hell even Primal's PF got smaller.
WOW is about to release a new expansion.
The new server launched at pretty much the same time that pre-patch came out.
WOW (despite what some people think) has a greater population than FF14. it consistently sells 3-million launch day expansions (and has done with everything except Mists). Expect the servers to be even quieter for at least a month shortly.
not sure why people are always shocked when new servers are not instantly filled to the brim and hopping with life. they take time to spool up, its that simple. its always been a downside in any game which adds new servers. they dont spring instantly to full pop, you moved there for whatever reason, but be patient, they will get there... in time.
Guessing no one wants to fork over the gil for an hourglass... >.>
It's not a perfect solution, but you can go toi the other data centers to queue for content without any penalties
we're in content drought so it'll be abit before it gets traction
Help grow what? That's a specific problem with SE. They could have done regional queues so if i was doing FL from Seraph, i should be able to get queued with people in Crystal, Aether and Primal. But nooo, smol indie company with multidollar budget.
So instead of waiting for a neverhappening queue, i'd rather visit Bry and get a 5 min FL queue.
FYI: I queued for 3 hours AR at 3am and when i logged out of the game i got the notification that i left the queue (LOL).

A few things I need to point out.
- It's only been a couple of weeks.
- Holiday season is kicking off in NA, so people are busy.
- We're late in a patch cycle, this is when people tend to float to other games.
- Most people on Dynamis are focusing on building FCs, decorating their houses and other transitory activities.
If you're that impatient, you can always DC travel to get your dailies done.
Plus, as others have mentioned, it only has half as many servers as other data centers, and only has been out for a few weeks. Plus a lot of people started new characters just give it time. I have hope. :)
People are also heading to other DCs for more serious roulette action.
Dynamis = Feelings
Dynamis = dead server
Dynamis = Dead feelings.
I blame that song "All I Want for Christmas is You". It kills all.
As others have already said. It hasn't been a month yet. In fact, we're only barely hitting the third week mark. Which just happens to be right smack in the middle of American Thanksgiving. A lot of companies are also mandating more work hours and such in preparation for Christmas. Not to mention plans people themselves have for spending time with family. All of this alongside a content lull for the game itself and it's hardly any wonder things are quiet.
Frankly, I believe that was intended so players could get comfortable without feeling as though they were missing out on content. One of the many blunders with Materia's launch was releasing it three weeks into a major patch cycle—one which included Savage. It all but ensured people wouldn't transfer even if the lack of DC travel wasn't a huge problem.
The dev team largely doesn't care if the community opts to create one centralized hub Data Center. Yoshida even said as much in the recent Q&A. One of the questions asked if they were concerned how over on JP, Mana has essentially taken over for raiding. They more or less said, DC travel is working as intended. So their solution to slow queue times on Dynamis is "go try Aether, Primal or Crystal". Make of that what you will.
It's not an issue though, because you can travel between the NA datacenters.
You want to see what Dead looks like? Make a Character on Materia! Queue times there are really bad, so bad most of us left, no option to DC travel anywhere.
What they should have done was given OCE one world to begin with, allow DC travel to JP, and then given the four wasted worlds from OCE to Dynamis and opened it with all Eight worlds.
Though they could have, and should have, just added Regional DC travel, for everyone.
Make it so SE, please!

- DC travelers leaving for crystal/aether
- The annoyance of "having" to use DC travelling for anyone that "was" thinking of coming and then changed their mind. (It is indeed annoying, but I'm happy to have a Large again)
- Only 4 servers instead of 8 servers like the rest
- Mid major update position
7.0 should see quite a large boost to Dynamis.
- FC housing not even open yet for bids.
- Housing felt at as a medium want but not a major want by most, not enough of a reason to move JUST for it, rn its the only reason unless you hate extroversion.
- New News of a lot more wards on OG servers will give even more reservations to people thinking of coming over, when they can just stay. (Honestly I think this a horribly bad time for SE to do this since they just released 4 new servers, but too late now)
- "New world" bonus from congested is a sick XP bonus to lvl 80. But does nothing for most honestly, a large # of people will already have their wanted 90 above 80 at least. SE probably could give better incentives, then a few silly gold choco feathers.
Other games have nothing to do with it, especially not wow.
Maduin still has tons of free housing plots in nearly all wards/zones.
I was hoping to at least play with a fresh market a bit but the market is completely flat dead as well.
Something I would sell 30+ of on Mateus in a single day before, I've now been unable to sell even "one" on Maduin within 3 weeks.
I expected it to be dead though sure, just...not "that" dead. I was hopeful for at "least" a few casual pvp matches to pop since its only 10 ppl. But not even those have popped a single time yet. DC travel it is.
Time will either fix it, or SE will simply merge all 4 of these servers into Crystal/Aether/Primal (They've done similar in the past)
Edit: Oh sorry Primal, forgot you guys were even there XD.
People already outlined most of the reasons but honestly the new servers are still in their early stages of development.
Ofcourse people flocked there initially for the free million gil and available house plots but now that its been mostly gotten and were currently in a bit of a wind down in terms of content as well as the holiday seasons theres not a lot of people doing stuff (for the most part).
At the very least the queuing is easily circumvented with DC travel. Which is a godsend for situations like this, it really doesnt take that long for me to quickly hop over Crystal or whatever and get my daily roulettes done.
Just give it some time.
Here's the DC expansion announcement again.
It's been less than 3 weeks. Players have been very involved in decorating their new houses and apartments, which is taking them away from other content they'd normally be doing.
I haven't had any problems with queue times myself. I've been leveling a tank so that might have something to do with it despite the roulette bonus being for DPS about half the time. I also haven't be queuing for max level content yet so I don't know what things look like for Expert roulette or the raids.
I haven't heard any complaints about queue times from anyone else on the data center except regarding PvP (which I don't do).
Attendance for S ranks has been good overall though it's been on the low side for trains and the big FATEs (still enough to kill things, just slow). I imagine Eureka and Bozja are probably dead.
Is there something else you're thinking of that I missed?
You can always data center travel if you're unhappy with activity on Dynamis.
That's not SE's design. That's how players use the data centers.
I doubt there's that much crossover in the games' populations.
It's more than we're running into the normal second half of the patch cycle lull when players start playing less waiting for the next patch to be released.
30 of what though and at what price? Being a fresh data center, what players are looking to buy is different from what is popular on an established data center.
Housing items have been selling like crazy, which was 100% predictable and many prepared for it. They've been making gil. I've made over 80 million myself and I've been more focused on decorating my own house and helping with hunts than selling items.
I've also seen some ridiculously overpriced items on the marketboard. We're not a closed market system. We're competing against other NA worlds. We've got a population that came in expecting to need to use data center travel at times. If someone is listing their item at 1 million gil when it usually sells on other NA worlds for 150k gil, hope they have fun sitting on it for months.
Low active population is a benefit for those looking for house.
The only real negative is you cannot play ranked pvp, except at the start of the season.
It's different than Australia's DC, because you can queue PvE and most PvP content (including casuals) on any of the 3 other DCs in NA.
The funny part is that there was at least one post that claimed that the servers on Dynamis had already been "assigned" roles by the community.
It's been less than a month, what do you expect exactly?
I have my obvious anxieties about the DC becoming a hub and activity never propping up there due to DC travel, but it's way too soon to tell.
This was predicted by so many people. There's simply no reason to stay on dynamis and play the game, when you could go to an established DC and have good queue times. Dynamis won't be good until 7.0 at best, and only then if SE closes the other DCs and basically forces new players to join dynamis. And even then, since DC travel is an option, they might just join dynamis and then hop over to crystal or aether or whatever. No matter how it's implemented, new DCs are just screwed in this game. Materia is an island, so people paid to transfer off. Dynamis is connected, so people use DC travel to get away from it and go where the people are. Maybe something else has to change before more DCs get created, because everyone I know who went to dynamis just did it for a house and then immediately hopped back to crystal; none of them were in it to build a community, which sucks for the people who join it unwittingly.
Genuinely asking: have they? Honestly I wanted to wait to see how the communities in each world settle first, like how Balmung is the RP world, Behemoth is the Hroth world etc etc. so I don't end up in one where I don't "fit in". All I know is Seraph seems to be the one everyone went to lol
They were assigned roles by unofficial groups of the community and the upkeep to maintain those roles have fallen short as everyone DC travels back to Aether and Crystal as needed. There currently isn't a need for Seraph to be an RP server when you can visit Balmung. Plus it's just people on standby to make night clubs. (I am not even exaggerating either, shout chat has been vocal about it).
I think the timing and reasons that people haven't been on much have been sufficiently covered, but I wanted to point out, once play does pick up with 6.3 and into 7.0, people will also stop going to other DCs as much, because the transfer time will jump drastically. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I could swear that I read somewhere that you are put at the back of the queue when trying to transfer, meaning you have to wait until no players from that DC are trying to log in before you get to transfer your character from Dynamis to another DC. When the new patches and especially the new expansion are out, that's going to be a loooong wait, so people are going to stay and que on Dynamis. Add to that the fact that all of the new players and alt accounts will finally be at decent points in the MSQ, and things should be popping pretty quick
There is a huge crossover in the game's populations. The term 'WOW refugee' is literally a term thrown about in game.
Half the last FC I was in game from WOW during a content drought. They were on 6-8 hours a day on FF14 for the 2 months I was in that FC. None of them have been online since the WOW pre-patch.
Wait... people actually thought Dynamis was going to have an active population?
The only people who moved there are hoping to win a housing plot, or for the first time lv30 bonus. After that, they'll proceed to do what everyone else is doing, travel to Aether to do literally any content.
Dynamis could have work, if they have been physically located on the east coast.
Not sure how you get the idea that Dynamis is failed and dead.... it isn't, this is coming from someone who has been playing and queueing on Dynamis exclusively since it came out.
But a few things that you may not have thought of. We JUST got done with round 2 of housing lottery, and Seraph is pretty full on the housing market so right now everyones crafting, selling housing items, or decorating. A few are making millions (I've made a fair amount just reselling rugs LOL). Anyone who doesnt do housing at all will fail to understand just how much time that will eat up. I've spent 3-4 days before just decorating a small FC room, NM a cottage or medium house. I've spent HOURS in my basement section getting it set up and I still have items to craft, flowers to grow, and never mind the upstairs which I havnt touched.
Then theres the alts. Most of our FC transferred over here, but most are just alts looking for the 1M bonus on hitting level 30 and leaving. Trust me, the population has died down, but its not dead. I can still queue for CT, and ARR dungeons and still not be able to finish my CS before it pops. If you're having a problem getting queues for level 90 content... well yeah. While alot of people did transfer it wasnt like half of aether/crystal/primal jumped ship. This is also a good time to make alts and unless you get a story skip, most of those alts are starting over at level 1 of the MSQ. I've met alot of new players.
Is PF a bit dead? Yeah but then thats because everyone is going over to Aether for that. Despite that I've still been in an EX1 farm, EX2 and 4 Prog, along with a Titania farm party.... and that last one was before noon. I've been too busy with leveling an alt, doing tribal quests and housing to bother with PF ATM.
Its also mid-patch, so bit of a content drought, AND the holidays. Time is finate. There are other games out there and people will gravitate towards that. WoW is coming out with a new expansion and I have a friend prepping for that, Terraria came out with its 1.4.4 update recently, plus there are a bunch of other games that have come out, One of which is a SE title, FFXVI is on the horizon.
Point is, its not been a month since the new servers came online, It wasnt released during a new expansion (thank god for that) and when 7.0 comes out, mark my words, Aether will be locked out of anyone wanted to create a character, plus see the return of 10K|2 1/2hr queues, along with Crystal and probably Primal. The only options for new players will Dynamis. Will it ever rival Aether? probably not but I dont care. I knew moving over was gonna have some growing pains but I dont want to have to reprog The Login Queue (Savage) which is one of the reasons I transferred.
The new NA and EU data centers are being put in place to prevent the congestion problems encountered when EW dropped. They've given people the ability to spread out and reduce load on the login and game servers, which is likely all they care about. If players want to transfer to Dynamis but actually play on Primal, I doubt that means anything to them, all the people doing DC travel now are still based on a low-pop datacenter which will have fewer issues come 7.0.
