Suggestion: More Battle stance animations

This probably won't get much traction but I wanted to put it out there

We can change our idle poses- so I suggest we are able to change our battle stances too!
And introduce more battle stances!
Some ideas- I'll add more later- but for now, please add your ideas!

Gunbreaker swings a giant metal blade over their head & back onto their shoulder over & over while in combat, which seems really silly when you think about it.
In combat, you're trying to attack something- so why constantly put your weapon behind your..head? I'd like to see Lightning battle stand animation or Squalls instead.

MCH- instead of just holding a giant gun with one hand, I'd like to see MCH also have an optional animation that let's them hold their gun with both hands (similar to their sprint when weapon is drawn)

Black Mage- Instead of squatting while holding a staff, I'd like to see an animation where they're.... NOT squatting. It makes wearing robes look silly imo

Scholar/ Summoner - A different battle animation where they don't one-hand their giant book- but it can float infront of them maybe? Or switch from holding the book from right hand or left hand? Or they use both hands or share the Lalafell animations

I would actually love more battle stances. I'd also love casting animation variants where we don't use the weapons as foci but sadly I know that will never happen.

City of Heroes had an option where you can pick from a few different animation on your abilities. On top of that you can also change the color effects as well.

I imagine it won't happen here because of the go-to excuse of spaghetti code.

I'd welcome it, but it'd be so low on my list of priorities that I wouldn't actually want any resources devoted to it unless the animators really had nothing better to do.

They added a couple fishing animations, so it has nothing to do with code and everything to do with how much time it would take. I think that would be very low priority with all the other animation work that needs doing. Yoshi made note of how a particular death scene required some extra work.

Ok good to know that it is something that can be done with some work. However I agree with what everyone is saying and it is not a priority because the game needs much love and fixes on many other aspects.

Wouldn't mind a change to DRK. It just looks awkward with the way it holds its sword and espeiclaly woth the way it runs. When DRK runs, it looks like the sword is about to dip into the ground, get stuck and send its wielder flying like being launched from a catapult.

It'd rather have my character hold their greatsword like Guts/Cloud with the blade being firmly in front of you with both your feet planted firmly into the ground with one food foward and the other back. Would just make DRK look better period, along with making it more intimidating visually.

Honestly, yes. At a bare minimum, I'd say let males use female poses and vice versa. That Saber animation for idle DRK is amazing. Meanwhile male DRKs have back problems.

Can I be selfish and ask them making removing the hunchback on Hrothgar a bigger priority? ; ;

I also would've loved if they did racial specific battle stances and victory poses, kinda like how in WoW each race had their own way of wielding a weapon type.

I still would want this to be an option to share via cpose but I guess the easy thing to ask is to allow us to use both gender idles...or heck even also share all race idles

People been talking about WoW so much that I kinda want to give it another go. Might do the WotLK private server again. So many classes I've not played yet causeI love Druid so much.

Same, I'd love if they could port over the XI casting animations, at least for Black magic, since the White Magic animation from XI would probably have some overlap with Sage's animation (when you extend your arm up in the air it's more fast paced and energetic compared to XI's but I can already hear people complaining it overlaps too much, still love the XI White magic animation though, there's a calmness to it and I think a good healer should embody those vibes in a diegesis kinda way). Wouldn't mind some revisions for Roe's and Hroth's animations for a number of the 2H Jobs like DRG DRK and WAR, just looks really bad running with your weapon out (tho DRK is more in line with the other races but it's equally weird looking for them imo). And should they ever do I hope they allow any race to use the Elvaan variants of those animations, it was a race Nomura had input on and while I don't think he decreed anything about it one way or another, it is interesting that it's the only race to have a slightly altered Black Magic casting animation and the only race that had cloth physics for its White Magic casting animation. If anything it probably just came about because it was one of the earlier races they had decided upon, I do wish we could get to see what the other races animations would have looked like if they were equally as fleshed out.

XI had these for battle stances, as each Race held their drawn weapons differently, even had unique Weaponskill animations depending on player race for nearly all of them.

They're unlikely to do something like this for the simple reason that they probably want every Job to be recognizable by their stance (to an extent), especially with their "visual identity" as diluted as it is, not that I'm complaining, they should dilute it even further and to make things easier on themselves for new Jobs to come

It is a big wish since there are various ways on how you hold a weapon, attack and defend. They have a different sprint animation in Crystal Conflict with Swift Sprint (when you get out of he spawning area) for example.
Maybe in the distant future but i think it'd help building your character a lot more with these options
