I could agree to this, need to off load your crap somewhere.. I hope it will be low though, since its not like they are hard to come by.
Supported. I'd feel materia levels 1-3 wouldn't be a complete waste of my time and money then.
I agree with the OP. Even if T1-T3 is 100~150 seals
Would prob be more like 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 seals <.<
Sounds like a good idea, sometimes low end materia just isn't worth it to sell, so being able to turn them into GC seals, even if only a small amount, would be much nicer than vendoring them for 300 gil.
I think GC seal should not be for everything.
There is content which give GC seals and you can trade stuff from bosses for GC seals as well.
i am against this for only one reason. it will make it harder for new players to come by a lot of materia that they would like to purchase off the players.
if it wasnt for that, you would have my full support.
yes, assuming it was only a few seals.
Anything the dev team would come up with for an exchange rate I'll be happy with.
But if I were to suggest an amount I would just want it to follow the exchange rates of the Guild Marks to Gil, Guild Marks to Materia format, then multiply that by 43%.
Why 43%? GC weapons that are on par with Ifrit weapons cost 6500 seals, but turning in an Ifrit weapon will yield you 2800 seals or 43% of 6500 seals.
This. Everyone would just turn their lower tier materia for seals instead of selling it for a few thousand gil. People still use lower tier materia for the achievements at least, and I've heard someone once melded their lower level weapon and gear too. ;)
If it's impossible for you to sell them on your retainer, just NPC them or put them in your bazaar for 500 gil.
You should put more trust in the market.
If lower tier materia supply goes down, then their value will increase.
Once this is realized the wards will fill back up again with those willing to make a nice profit.
Not only that but I'm willing to bet 50%, if not more, of the lower tier materia in the game is not listed in the wards but just sitting on retainers or occupying inventory space. So exchanging materia for seals isn't keeping them away from "new players" but their current low value is.
Imagine this, if players know that they can SB low level gear in a matter of minutes for materia that can be sold in the wards to potential "seals" buyers, I doubt there will ever be a shortage.
Good point, but it could go both ways.
GC seals are not as readily available as gil, gil practically grows on trees. I am confident that people would be more willing to trade for seals rather than sell for a little bit more gil. With the tier materia being targetted towards those under 31 I wouldnt expect the price to go up much because its likely they wont sell much.
As they grow and expand the seal exchange contents that will just make them that much more valuable. Plus you cant have the good without the bad, if people make tons of materia easily at high levels that would give pretty speedy boosts to the amount of seals acquired and they would have to increase the costs to compensate. I already feel like you get too many too easily at level 50 when looking at the prices. i would like things that take a lot of saving and patience, bjt thats a bit off topic..:p
oh, and after release of 2.0 the demand should skyrocket with the wave of new players so the prices will go up anyways and all that materia people are hoarding will probably be sold around that time.
The scope of your response is somewhat limited, and I'll explain why.
The choice between gil or seals is not either or. Both these currencies are required for mostly different purchases.
So the players who have gil or just need seals would choose to SB or buy up materia in the wards for seals.
Whereas the players who have max seals and/or all the desired GC purchases will opt to sell their materia for gil.
It's true gil is easier to obtain than seals, but keep in mind that gil can get you more things than seals and gil purchases are usually inflated.
That could possibly cause a large price inflation, going back to the issue of readily available materia for low level players. Also SE probably wouldnt add that without incresimg prices through the gramd companies for companies. Its a vicious circle. There is also the possibility that the result could be even better or worse than anticipated. This would be a tough thing to balance out and in my opinion the risk is greater than the possible reward.
By 2.0 it would be more worth it to sell the tier 1 materia with the increase in new players.
