Frankly this seems thrilling but also frightening; it’s like a double edge sword.

To be honest FFXIV is the closest thing we have to an Ready Player One game (without vr for now) it is the most complete and player rich modded / content game that there is for now that is honest with what they sell to you upfront. I can see it become a Ready Player One type mmo multiverse easily, as it already has just a really huge catalogue of themes / characters / clothing / gear in it's own different expansions / housing / places already and can expand on it.
I don't see SE doing the same as FF11 with this and leave behind their huge audience but evolve the game in some type of A.R.R 3.0 or even more then that to the next iteration of FF online, they can transform the game wherever to their likings, by updating the engine / models, they have the know how to.
You should probably note that it's not official, it's a third party mod, and subject to being taken down like any other third party mod.
Thirst levels just went above 9000.
God what would the balmung nsfw crown make of this. Time to get the popcorn
Omg i would love this. A few years back i had said i wish there was something like that a mmo that was vr. I know it might get physically tiring but i would still love to see it. Not sure how all the abilities would work but i would still love to play it
They are breaking the ToS, therefore I hope they get banned permanently from the game!.
Personally, I cannot stand First Person games, I would vomit most likely, 10 minutes of Resident Evil Village sicken me for at least half an hour so not everyone would be happy with that mod.
This game has not been designed for Virtual Reality and instead of wasting time with it they should invest resources to remake the game's models, textures and adding new features like physics so characters and objects had weight, specially hair in order to avoid clipping, they are little more than paper figures currently.
I am anti-emulation, mostly because pro-Nintendo emulation gamers are:
"We emulate because Nintendo doesn't provide us with a way to buy the game"
Then Nintendo provides them with a game and they still emulate.
I wish they would just say:
"We emulate because we enjoy stealing copyrighted stuff"
I’d lose my lunch being forced into first person for Byakko’s trial in vr. I’m not entirely sure I’d regret it.
VR gives me a migraine. I'd pass even if I wasn't a console pleb who couldn't do it anyway.
Yeah nah. Secondlife is ugly in all it's graphical aspects AND underwhelming ui / inventory and gameplay systems if you can even talk about any gameplay in this. There is just no comparison to an established and well done game that has consistency in it's graphic pipeline from backgrounds to characters, animations / combat system. Sorry not sorry Secondlife has allways been some type of a badly put together joke standing on shaky sticks in this regard.
Meh... Full dive immersion VR only... It's only good if something can go horribly wrong leaving us stuck in our character's body unable to log out... >.> lol
A while ago, I joined a party who wanted to attempt Endcaller EX from first person perspective. It was...something else. But based on that experience, I know that VR in this game (At least from first person) would never work out.
And for third person perspective...is it really that hard to just play the game like normal lol? Feels like VR would make it more difficult if anything.
you'll die playing as DRG xD
Just on the sickness/migraine, although physiologically women are more prone to it (many studies on this), it's also partially related to frame rate and resolution. Once I got my 3090 and a much better headset my seasickness went away.
Mmm, I think the same. Might work for people who can use ps2-like controllers though.
I know when I am in MSFS-VR it's pretty easy to fly as I have physical controls in the correct place. I can reach out my hands and grab the throttle or steering. And when in NMS VR the VR controllers work very well. (NMS in VR is awesome fun)
Probably irrelevant but you should expand your extreme ERP boundary in terms of Second Life. Paid sex services (like webcamming and irl visitation) is a thing over there now way more than it used to be and can fall into "user created content (youll see rooms specically created for it or on advertisijg space at clubs now). Otherwise this is accurate, the capabilities of SL blow FF out of the water, especially in the animation and physics department. It's all also supported by the devs so they provide more tools to creators than FF ever will.

It's perfect!
I'm ambivalent about VR FFXIV (or any other game) because I'm super-prone to car-sickness in first person games. Therefore, I'm likely never going to be able to play. However, just because I cannot play doesn't mean others can't.
It won't be since it's been advertised now.
I suspect SE will clamp on it
I don't know how well this would work in intense instances.
For flying and open zones, yeah. That would be a blast. Flying through the Burning Wall, Western La Nosca and other maps with iconic map locations would be a thrilling, breathtaking and immersive experience...
but in certain trials and alliance raids that would be a visual HELL. Especially with instances that have mechanics requiring you to look behind and on your sides.
Wait. How will they deal with the hand cursor mechanic from the Ivalice Raids?
