Physick - Summoner problem

Why is this spell so useless at higher levels for summoner? it needs to be reworked or changed somehow, it is just sitting there useless feels like lazy/bad game design to leave it the way it is now. Maybe give it a 30 second cd and heal more if they don't want dps classes to heal (even though red mage "vercure" is a thing on double cast) or just let it scale of INT already it just feels like a remnant of the past and they don't want to fix it

The only purpose of physicks is to be used as Scholar. It's a remainder of ARR when Scholar and sumoner were heavily tied together. Otherwise it's a spell which could have been deleted, but still here probably because arcanist need at least one heal for low lvl as it's the base class of Scholar.

Physick should upgraded to Rekindle or something like that. It's a wasted button on Summoner.

Vercure is not worth casting as a heal in a party setting. It's there to make RDM look like a RDM and to give us something to proc Dualcast with when there is no target for a real spell.

I'm not sure what you mean by it "is a thing on double cast" but just to in case you have any wrong ideas about it, Dualcasting Vercure-Vercure still takes 5.0s / 2 GCDs, healing 700p over those two GCDs. In a single GCD a real healer can use one of the following heals:
- WHM: Cure II / Solace - 800p
- WHM: Regen - 1,500p
- AST: Benefic II - 800p
- AST: Aspected Benefic: 1,500p
- SCH: Adloquium - 840p normal / 1,380p crit
- SGE: Eukrasian Diagnosis: 840p normal / 1380p crit
What's more, a real healer can handle the healing without casting any of those spells at all in 99% of content. A RDM isn't ever going to Dualcast Vercure-Vercure unless soloing an obsolete Extreme/Savage fight or unless a party fight has gone so bad that those heals won't make a difference anyway. Similarly, if SMN's Physick healed for a real 400p instead of an off-stat 400p, it would still not be worth casting in a party setting.

I'll admit that I've never done any Ultimates. But...amazing? I really don't think that's the case. I can't see any instance where Vercure would be "amazing." It might be nice to keep the fight moving a bit to see the next mechanic(s), but can't see an instance where it would be a game changer.

Scholar has their own, unique version of Physick they get when you put on the job stone. The Arcanist version is literally useless, it does nothing.

Vercure is pretty useful in downtimes and to get Dualcast procs when you can't hit the enemy. It can somehow save a wipe if something really cursed and wrong happened but it should never be considered reliable healing.

Maybe so... but it's not as though this is a problem unique to summoner. Monk, as an example, has been carrying some of its useless skills for multiple expansions.

Though I wouldn't be upset if they just deleted Physick. Scholar doesn't use the version of the skill from Arcanist, so deleting it from the class makes no difference other than to address discussions such as this one. Summoner doesn't need a heal beyond what it already gets with Enkindle and Everlasting Flight.

Would like them to change it to scale with Summoners, Obviously it's not the most important thing in the world but theirs situations where physick could be nice for solo content or if you wanna do a run without a healer and have a small safety net.

Overall it doesn't really matter if it gets changed or not, but I rather they A: Remove it or B: Make it scale better like vercure.

Sir or Lady I believe Summoners do not want people to stack an extra reason why they should do no damage. I believe this would be a terrible mistake.

Well if people want to argue that summoner should do less damage because of physick that's just a bad argument, but I don't think because people will have "bad arguments" that it's a mistake to change something... Nothing would be added utility wise if that was the case.

Theirs already plenty of reasons why smn shouldn't do BLM damage a buffed physick wouldn't be one of them, SMN got plenty going for it already over the other casters, Not saying it couldn't be buffed some more.

I just disagree with the whole idea that people are going to really look towards physick being the reason why SMN damage shouldn't be high... Even if its a "extra reason" that's used against summoner's again it's a bad reasoning, we shouldn't advocate for changes to any jobs at all if you're worried that someone is going to have a bad take because of the change.

It doesn't feel like you personally have anything against SMN physick being actually decent for solo instances and stuff. (or like I said just remove it)

Everytime I look at Physick I do wonder if they're seperate spells too:

SUM: 400 MP, 400 Potency, under Class
SCH: 400 MP, 450 Potency, under Job

Regardless, that it doesn't scale with Int, or have an upgraded Phoenix-type variant, means it can be safely taken off your bars and forgotten about. Just put Carb's shield there instead.

Not with a single precise button, but I'm talking about the whole. The smn from 0 to 90 has no real sense of upgrade, the smn both at 50 and at 60 and at 70 that at 90 does the same things, pressing the same things. The smn from 0 to 90 instead of making the gameplay more complicated, is actually simplified by creating an involution of the gameplay: from having 15 seconds of only ruin with cast, to having 15 seconds of pure instant spell spam. While with the other classes as you advance you add more stuff to think about, with smn it's just the opposite. The smn during the leveling changes the names of the abilities but does not gain one. Obviously the smn had to be born with 8 summons and have them distributed during the leveling, instead they stopped at 5 for who knows what strange reason, perhaps to add (shiva, ramuh and leviathan) with future expansions. Returning, in the specific of the skills, the smn has 2 hot during the 15 seconds of phoenix forced to use it in those 15 seconds. So yeah, physick is the least of the problems for smn, in my opinion. Clearly if they fix it, I'm happy when I need it during a msq or some content to do on my own, but frankly I hope they invest their time to fix and complete the smn more deeply.
