Option to switch off War aura effect for photosensitive players

I tried to pick up Warrior again today, but had to quit after a few minutes because of the gauge aura effect. I got nauseous and dizzy, mainly because of the flashy light in the middle of it, but the whole aura is kind of pulsating too.

There's lots of flashy stuff in the game, but this one is constant and there's never a break from it. Other effects can also be switched off, but not this one.

I'm not sure how others who are photosensitive feel about it. I know it's also a liked feature, but an option to switch it off entirely if needed would be really great.

I'm not photosensitive and would love for the aura to go away when not in combat.

The visual effect should be tied to the Surging Tempest buff. It would be active in the heat of battle, then eventually fade once combat is over.

It's tied to gauge. if you've got gauge it's on if you've none it's off. It's also very irritating at times, like the fisher stealth balls.

Even if I like the aura from the Beast Gauge, I would also support a toggle off option for accessibility. If it can be toggled off during gpose, I'm sure it can be possible to implement outside of it.

There's unfortunately no TOS-approved methods of doing it. Given how excessive spell effects in this game tend to be, I feel like more granularity in what we can disable would be nice to have.

I think a good compromise would be if it was tied to infuriate and berserk/IR. As long as those buffs are active you get that aura and it goes away after the buff dissipates. It also fits more thematically that after you infuriate or go berserk suddenly you are more "powered up" and gain this aura around you. It is a much visual indicator of when you have buffs up as you can look at your character and see visually when they have the aura as opposed to a small buff timer somewhere on your screen.

Not saying you should but if you are PC, you can find a means to fix it.

reminder that they removed the original darkside aura, with the black smoke (you can see it in the HW job actions trailer still), and just kept the red wispy effect, but insist on keeping this ugly... whatever it is for WAR. I don't want to say 'super saiyan aura' because that'd be a disservice to dragonball

Ngl, the more effects they remove (from DRK aura to DRG aura), the more I realize how every job loses a bit of what made them aesthetically unique to me. I hope WAR doesn't go that route, and prefer a toggle for players who don't like that effect. Playing Dragoon ever since we lost the blue aura effect felt so off since the aura was like a mini transformation for me aesthetically and felt nice to activate. Level 50 Dragoon just felt like a lancer to me, and Level 52 onwards actually felt like a job that was infused with the power of the dragon with that aura buff rather than a lancer that used techniques like a dragon. Ever since the aura was removed, the job just felt so different to me that I couldn't particularly go back to it even though the gameplay remained perfectly the same.

Does changing your character's graphics from Full to Limited remove it?

Hilariously, not even setting 'own battle effects' settings to OFF, let alone Limited, removes it, or even reduces it. As you can see here, the Apply button is greyed out, so the settings seen here are the ones currently active. It's not even a good looking aura, it's probably the worst looking one in the game, a true relic of 2.0/3.0 VFX design

It was a nice concept, but the effect is dated (10 years old in a few months) and Inner Release's animation already illustrates the 'maximum rage' effect. It should either get a graphics update and a toggle, or just be left out entirely.

I would love to be able to toggle this off even in combat. I am photosensitive and this effect isn't the worst offender but I'd be more comfortable without it. And in general I would love to be able to turn down some of the flashiness in this game so that I don't have to avoid certain fights. As an option ofc, not arguing to limit others' ability to watch all the pulsating fireworks they like.

At least make it activate at 50 gauge or above, as a visual 'I'm angry enough to Fell Cleave' indicator, having it activate off of a combo'd Maim is kinda weird. But if it were to flare up after hitting 50 gauge, it'd also be like a lingering effect after Infuriate which would look cool(er). Though they'll probably just remove it entirely like they did for BOTD, Greased Lightning, Darkside, etc. Maybe they'll do something with that extra VFX RAM budget it'd free up
