Castrum Novum - Content for a better tomorrow

I must say, I'm rather pleased with this new addition! A fun, open world romp capped off with an interesting, challenging, and unique boss fight. If XIV can continue to add such content, I believe it will easily become an MMO worth playing. If 2.0 perhaps adjusts the current Primals to be more like this area and ups the drop rate, what we have now would be far more enjoyable as well

that fight... was... epic.

I have to say, as I've said many times before, SE never fails in the storyline or music department. This battle was well designed, the music for it was very fitting and the storyline cutscene screamed epic.

Honestly, the whole fight gave me a very strong FFXII feel to it, and that is a very, very good thing.

it was just aesthetically outstanding. I want more. NOW

And on the other side you have Relic weapons once again proving that luck is everything in this game.

But, yeah Castrum Novum is fun. Heck, even wiping at the fight was fun.

I had to stay Castrum Novum instanced really gives amazing sci-fi feeling but it doesn't feel like its out of the world. That little small room is just really amazing in terms of design, The fight itself is easy but i would really love them to expand this room and have a tough fight inside.

Kudos really.

The open world is ok i guess, too many people, so i won't really say anything since i don't see much.

Agreed, and I would even go to say it's the best battle added to date. It can be a hard fight, but it wasn't impossible, which is what this game needs more of.

It's casual and hardcore all wrapped up in an epic fight. I'm looking forward to more of this in the future.

Wish we had that new engine now because it was really fun to be in that strong hold in the heat of the moment. Right after you finish the quest beforehand and get pumped, and while everyone is actually rushing in and fighting for the good of the region.

My group of friends didn't bother too much today though, the mass amount of people caused a lot of people some headaches. But in my opinion it wont be as fun without them there. If this is an example of how story, art and music and gameplay are going to tie together in 2.0 then color hyped. Sure i bet it isn't going to be too hard or meaty of content, but it sure is fun.

You know, I think I'm actually sad this fight will go away after 2.0. Since it's 7th Umbral Era content, that means we lose it. :(

I ran my ass up from Brittle Bark at the behest of the Bull General himself. Had to traverse literally shiton (A ton of shit) of Imperial footsloggers and their hell hounds. After I made my way into the temporary cave HQ they told me I had to penetrate the Disco Fortress and then inlaid a goddamn Battle Plan map in front of me. Outlining the objectives and routes.

Pushed into the narrow choke before the first gate and just rolled back in my seat. THAT was an army. After a tastefully short and awesome cutscene of the throngs of Grand Company men throwing themselves into the fray I got to experience it first hand. There were a half a dozen strong, mixed LS PC's waiting around anxiously. All braving one more tip toe towards the aggro line. Gathered them into a party and began to chip away at the bulk defensive line. One after another after another links of Imperials crashed down on our little half PT and we were losing HP and MP at an alarming rate. Then the others reinforced! A new PT charged in and flanked the remaining guards, taking the pressure of us.

Knocked politely on the First gate and they were hospitable enough to let us in.

20 more minutes or slaughtering and running through Imperial strong hold outs and Machina vanguards we got to the final door and were presented with an interesting and unique boss fight. All of this open world, without a typical 8 man set up. Just throwing Adventurers at a problem until enough of them work together to beat it.

The fact that this was just after an update and everyone and their moogle was doing it made it feel that much more epic. Nothing like an army of adventurers, full parties, light parties and soloists/duos cleaving through an Imperial Stronghold. Quite the sight to behold, even with character limitations.
