There are zero fking changes to MCH. So this means Devs believe MCH is at its proper place right? Time to stop playing a job that is abandoned by the devs.

I mean, this is a minor patch, and while they could have buffed machinist (and should) it's not that big of a deal if they do it the next big patch which is 6.25. I was definitely not expecting any buffs as a RDM this patch at least. They lowered the dps check on the last boss, meaning comps with machinists will have it easier to clear. However, if they don't buff it in 6.25 and buff the other jobs... *raging noises*
The ADPS of MCH should, at the very least, be on par with the melee dps imo. They need quite the buff. From what I understand MCH needs more than a buff, it needs some kind of fix/rework to some aspects of the job (aoe, queen, heat gauge generation, etc).
Dude including screenshots of you throwing out MCH weapons is kinda cringe. Like a child throwing out their toys because they were told it wasn't playtime right now. Grow up.
Damn Bro, you went discard your weapons and give up on the class. I wish you best of luck to find a dps or tank/healer in your liking. Deeply sorry for false advertissement from the devs.
MCH weapons are ugly anyway
Tbf I'd be mad too if I'd be dealing as much damage as a low-below average parsing SAM while parsing a 100 on a MCH... both completely dps centric jobs... absolute GARBAGE balance.
I really hope they buff MCH to where it deserves to be, which is imo right among the melee dps jobs in ADPS (around where dragoon or ninja are now, again adps only). That would be the very least amount of damage enough to make it competitive in raid scenario.
Life is good as a tank.
MCH needs a lot of work. The ranged tax makes no sense, the job is not even halfway to pure DPS and it has 0 support, not even personal mitigation like third eye or manaward.
I'm very close to give up, I feel like Square Enix forgot to read the forums.
Nah, hol' up here. Life is only good as a tank if you're DRK or GNB. If PLD or WAR you are expected to find a hole to go die in, as proven by these "buffs."
Playing MCH these days means you are a masochistic fool who lives on hopium each patch just to be disappointed.
Please enjoy this google translate sample of the jp forum:
"none?????????"
"Ok..... Square Enix doesn't want players to play ranged classes, only melee. Just delete ranged classes."
"Is there nothing...Is
that so..."
"If there is no change...
machinist, will it be deleted..."
"It is important to keep speaking up even if you continue to be ignored. Until someone from the job coordinator joins the machinist...
hoping guns aren't as weak as arrows or throwing weapons."
"Personally, I'd like you to explain the concept of the machinist job."
Everyone is disappointed, the MCH community of JP has been quite vocal during these past months on the forum.
In fact, they've been vocal for months.
Can't wait for the insane mental gymnastics that will be employed when MCH is brought up in the next LL. That's assuming they won't just brush it under the rug like with SAM of course.
The problem is two fold imo.
1.) The problem with MCH is that it used to basically be a BRD with guns and then they basically removed all their support stuff which turned them into a "selfish" DPS and they never adjusted for that on top of applying the ranged tax to them.
2.) I think this is the only tab targeting MMO I've played where there's a class of ranged play style that is completely free with no cast times. Even in other games where the ranged is mostly mobile they still have casted/channeled skills mixed into their rotation and most of the instants are either on long cooldowns or use a secondary resource like energy (basically mana) to prevent them from spamming instants. That lack of forcing phsy. ranged to occasionally cast or channel a skill on top of the lack of a secondary resource gives them basically 100% uptime. Not saying to litter MCH with channeled or casted abilities, but I do see the general design of all the phsy. ranged (especially MCH) is kinda flawed. They need to address the issue in 7.0 and just get rid of the whole ranged taxed concept and find ways to force downtime, even if its only a handful of globals. At this point melee don't suffer much down time anymore if at all so the ranged tax is losing its purpose.
Why would you discard those weapons that you work hard for? Lol . I still play mch from time to time but you dont see me discard my weapons xD
You don't really need to work hard for savage weapon or ex weapon tho. I would even argue the ex weapon is the only time consuming one here(cause you need 5 clears). You won't see me discard relic weapon lol.
The point is I decide not to use MCH to prog in 6.2. So these weapons are useless.
There’s nothing left to say, to stick with mch is to admit you are addicted to huffing massive amounts of copium. The job has once again been forgotten.
It’s stormblood all over again. Go find something more fun to play. They never fixed it in Stormblood they won’t fix it now, and if they deem it worthy to fix in 7.0 it’ll be decent for one expansion before you are back here again. Better to bail out now.
Ive always wondered this but how much damage would a Wildfire do if it worked from the entire parties spell/weapon skills? Technically... not a raid buff so Mch still keeps that selfish mentality...
In an 8 second window, you can get between 3-4 gcds per character, so a fully stacked wildfire would clock in at about 34 hits, or approximately 5.66x the damage.
Just a quick glance at a top hegemony log this would be approximately 1800 additional DPS, or in simple terms, "A stupid amount of damage."

In this sentence, they clearly admit that the design of the last fights are a disadvantage for ranged DPS, and yet, they completely ignore caster and ranged DPS and do things halfway.
Yeah, I just don't have expectations anymore for this job ever getting looked at properly or having an explicit reason to exist that is entirely unique to it after so many patches of very tiny bandaid fixes and odd adjustments that are essentially lateral. Maybe eventually I will be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not really expecting it. Still a bit in disbelief they said that about Paladin without immediately and obviously extrapolating that explanation to casters and all ranged phys as well, but hey. 6.25 or 6.3 copium or whatever.
I was discussing with a friend that the easiest solution for MCH would be Automaton Queen getting a debuff she applies to an enemy when she first hits them, that applies for 10s and increase the damage it takes from the MCH by X% (maybe like 10-20%) during that window. An alternative could be doing the same thing to Wildfire, making the bomb cause the enemy to take more damage while its "charging".
Its an easy solution that rewards good play and planning around raid/personal buffs, doesn't change the identity of "selfish DPS" in its category, and will likely close the DPS gap that MCH needs.
PLAY SOMETHING ELSE FAM.
I MEAN GAME, NOT JOB.

See? I told you. Worst job by design.
I am sure its not the answer that people want to hear but the reason they changed the tank situation more quickly was that it was more urgent as WARs and PLDs were in serious danger of getting replaced by DRKs and GNBs while ranged dps are not seriously under threat of getting replaced by melees.
Its definitely a feel bad situation for casters and physical ranged but there probably isnt a serious threat of a either of these two roles getting removed as people avoid tripple melee comps like the plague.
But Machinist is getting replaced en masse too - Phys ranged players are switching to DNC /BRD. FFlogs has fewer than 100 clears of p8s part 2 for MCH, nearly 500 clears for BRD and over 1600 for DNC.
Why is it an emergency if a PLD main is forced to swap to DRK, but not if the MCH player is forced to switch to DNC for exactly the same reason?
Reminds me of Deltascape when Machinist was outnumbered by bards by nearly 9 to 1.
I wonder how the Dancer ratio would have looked back then had it existed.
I'd think it be something like 1:2:9 for Mach/Bard/Dancer if we take into account that back then, logs were ranked by raw total DPS, and not have the split of R/A.
