I'm more curious why you were banned. 10 days is quite a lot, so you either did something really, really stupid - or had a previous offense and didn't learn.

If they are talking about the forum, 10 days is the usual.

It's really amazing knowing that my message wasn't off topic and also that it didn't contain any insults so I'm really posting not to complain even if I don't understand the gm's decision but to do some prevention.

You know now that you have to be very careful while posting if you don't want to be banned

No I wasn't suspended in the game just the forum so it's not a big deal but I don't want to take any more risks since even if you respect the rules you can get destroyed

I've warned people about that before. The mods are still around, even if it feels like they aren't. The one thing about a forum ban (or suspension), is that it shows exactly what warranted said account action in the email. You really have to guess when it comes to a game warning or strike.

When I got suspended, it was because I replied to someone saying "No one gives a .... about your ultimate clears".

It doesn't take much. Trolls will run free and legitimate posts will constantly get bans for the most mundane things. The mods are inconsistent.

Can people mass report something to force actions to be taken?

Hey I just finished my 10 day ban too!

There were a lot of posts about an external twitter person that had nothing to do with ffxiv as you can remember since it’s from the same person that resulted in your ban as well, and I got very emotional unfortunately and said that he is…..to put it “nicely” a person that loves children an unhealthy amount and the comment got me banned.

It did not get the original poster banned that kept spamming the forum with topics and screenshots completely unrelated to ffxiv, so I wrote them two emails asking how comes only I got banned since the other person stirred up the drama, posted unrelated content and insulted people as well. I haven’t gotten any explanation as to the reason why she wasn’t banned so I persisted and sent them another email with screenshots I gathered before she could reedit her posts.
Not sure if they banned her or not now.

I kind of hope she gets banned for good at some point since all her posts start as if they are related to final fantasy but then she edits and posts about things that have nothing to do with the game, especially political topics that she is very aware will make people fight.

Then she re-edits the posts over and over hoping nobody can lead the trail back to her.
Mods are indeed supposed to see all the edits so I have no idea why she wasn’t banned until now especially because a lot of other forum members said they reported her.


Mods please don’t ban me again for explaining my situation.

Ah, my bad, for some reason I thought we were talking about in-game bans. Thanks for you insight, and ooof... we go OT all the time in the German Forums...

Trolls will usually stay inside the TOS since they're very conscious of it. You really have to spend a lot of time on a forum to spot the more subtle trolls. Profanity and personal attacks are much easier to see.

I'm surprised there are even mods here, with how wildly off topic this board gets and how certain threads just stay up for days at a time before falling off of page 1.

Users are better off staying out of certain threads, if they can, in my opinion. Report them and move on. If someone really feels the need to comment, keep in mind the forum guidelines, and the ToS. If you, as a user, were to claim something about another or another user, this can get you hit for "slander", for example. Try to stay on topic, regardless of how you feel about it, and move on.

When my last account got suspended, it was for telling people that Yoshi-P had no idea what he was doing with machinist in HW.

Pretty much. I've seen really harrowing, nasty comments from people here. Outright bullying, transphobia, homophobia, but even when they're notified of it, they don't do anything. At all. Those people are allowed to post and say as much offensive crap as they can. If people are getting banned at all, then they're just going for the small fry.

It's great that they're around.
It's not great that they're basically MiA when it really matters.

Can confirm this. My one and only ban was for a bit less than 2 weeks and was for profanity. 10 days sounds about right.

I think on the forum 10 is the base. I got banned a few months ago for 10 days calling someone a name that begins with j and ends with off. Never had any dings before so it would have been a first offense. I tried to get some information to see if my account in general had strikes I didn't know about that were making it more severe but couldn't get a straight answer on it.

Nice thing is the forums at least tell you what post so you know to avoid that in the future.

As someone who's be temp banned from many forums even this one. You don't get banned within a few days and depending on the mods it might be a long time like a year for an offense. Imo this forum is about 7-21 days behind, longer if you get reported incorrectly which might be why some have dodged the ban.

So OP did you learn your lesson?

That seems slightly odd you can generally be very critical of the game and its management. You can not however point out the bootlickers. I pointed out a counting problem that would be obvious to someone with preorders. Someone cried devs have feelings and they shouldn't have to count players to design content. I might have questioned that idea. That was not OK.

If you direct your profanity at someone on the forums, that can lead you to getting temp banned for a while. The mods don't really care if you randomly curse to no one in particular. At least that's how my experiences and observations of this stuff works.

From memory, mine was only 3 days for generalisations in a thread about winter only starting when the snow falls.

Don't directly target insults, and mostly it seems to be allowed to ride.

The xx redacted text the OPs posted on page one shows quite a strong attack on a single person, so that's not surprising.
