Well we are looking forward to a pretty sizeable follow up. 6.25 is going to give us the beast tribe and the criterion dungeons. There's also savage coming in a few days.
Content in this game is what you make of it. If you are a casual player, you can do the story of the content and then logout the same day and return for the next patch.
If you want more out of the game there are rewards to farm such as mounts, minions, orchestrions, housing items and glamour.
For example, there is a new pvp series and that should keep you busy for a long time increasing rank to get the rewards and the island sanctuary is time-gated, so it takes some time to get all of the rewards. The new raids have glamour with effects and a minion to farm for. But a casual player wouldn't bother with any of these things and just do the content once.
The other post makes a good point as well, which is that the patch content is spread across smaller patches.
tbh I really wish they gave us base level manderelics in 6.21.
6.25 is too months away so the only grind for nonsavage raiders is weekly tome caps and island sanctuary. Im not even going hard in sanctuary but im lv6 out of 10 it wont take me two months to hit 10.
It ended? Which part speifically? msq? Cause there's a new ex to beat and farm, a new unreal to do weekly, new normal raids to do weekly, new savage content to prog, island sanctaury if that's somebody's thing, new map drops, new pvp stuff I guess and I'm probably forgetting something. Oh yeah new tomes and glams ofc.
This patch is huge. Bigger than most.
Let me know when you’ve cleared the PvP series, maxed out island sanctuary, cleared the new EX, cleared the new unreal, crafted your new raid gear and next week you’ll have to let me know when you cleared the savage tier, and in a few weeks you’ll have to let me know when you cleared all the variations of the criterion dungeons/variant dungeons, and then you’ll have to let me know when you’re done with the first relic.
Of course I’m extremely happy with the patch because I enjoy all aspects of it. If you want to limit yourself then you are going to find less to do.
I still miss my two dungeon patches. ;_;
Yeah, this new character and recent direction the story is taking with the void and the expanded lore behind voidsent and the nature of the 13th shard.
Oh just some small time anime filler. The new pieces of content alongside the rest that's still yet to come in 6.25, still is just whatever. Yup mhmm.
?? What exactly you're comparing 6.2 with?
The MSQ took around 4 hours (and that was with insta queues for the dungeon and trial), reading the dialogue at a normal pace and not skipping cutscenes.
Raid story, I didn't time it, but together with the fights and the waiting times, it certainly took around the same amount of time as any other raid patch storylines.
The Island feature, while understanding that is not for everyone's taste, is a huge time sink
Savages start next week, and if you're into that, progging is another huge time sink for the average player
There are more CC ranks and rewards to be earned
And in about 2 months we are supposed to get 6.25 which will bring Relic Weapons, Tribal quests and Criterion dungeons, which by themselves can also be time consuming, especially if the Relic weapons are (and certainly will) be gated behind grinding some stuff. Criterion dungeons have the base version with storyline replayability and the harder versions for progging time sinks.
I honestly think this patch got more than the average amount of content.
I haven't done everything the patch offers yet (spending so much time in Island Sanctuary) but it seem like your normal .2.x patch with a dungeon, trial, some msq, new raid tier and with relic quest later in the .2 tier.
It seems to be on par with other expansions.
Not sure what OP expected.
Personally, I'm hoping they don't do away with the entire Void storyline before 7.0. I feel like they could easily make a full expac outta this Shard, Hells they did it with the First why not this one? Besides, a full on invasion of the Source is already narratively primed with Golbez seeking to do precisely that. It could even tie into Meracydia, a place many players wanna see and is ALSO tied to 13th lore.
But, well.... I have precious little hope personally. 2 of the Four Fiends are dead already, who's to say Golbez himself doesn't get ganked by us in 6.3? Can't help but feel Square and Yoshi-P's gonna screw the pooch super hard on this one and move onto.... whatever it is they're planning for 7.0 which based on the narrative decisions so far doesn't seem likely to be Void-related.
This topic isn't a joke, it's a complete circus.
yes, and I still say that I thought it was a lot of content compared to the previous ones.
I think they expect everyone to raid or afk in Island Sanctuary. Should of had Relic Grind.
I'm still waiting for Blue Mage update.
i cant beleive ffxiv is over
If a person was like amazing 6.2 is going to be huge from all the stuff listed, they are bound to be disappointed. They have a sizable amount of stuff listed for the next patch that is still what 4 to 8 weeks out? People need to expect nothing. Even the fan boys say we shouldn't even expect playable game when we get new content.
Need to lower expectations, you don't want devs to have the whole patch ready when they can push stuff later. Which in turn will allow the fans to claim we got a large patch in .25 so the devs need the even more extra time for the next patch.
The patch isn't "technically" done.
We still have a .5 patch coming I think next week that comes with everything else as mentioned above.
Plus, there is no way you are done with Island Sanctuary or have completed PvP.
I really wish they could provide all the content of the patch, IN the actual patch, instead of putting them in 6.21 and 6.25 and stuff. Just feels like they are trying to streeetch out peoples subs.
What do you mean how short? I just finished the MSQ part yesterday. Haven't even started IS or the next raid series yet. And that's not even counting PvP (which I'm just not into) or Extreme/Savage/Unreal or the relic quests and criterion dungeons coming out in the mid-patch. Hint: If you no-life content, there will never be enough for you to be satisfied. It is physically impossible to produce that much.
I expect it will finish before 7.0, and personally I'm fine with that. I think the reasoning might be exactly what you mentioned. We already did the "make an xpac out of a shard" thing; doing it again just with a different shard would seem dull and redundant in comparison. Time to move onto something new.Quote:

I am happy with the 6.2 patch so far. :)
Cheers
Hell no. Feels already overwhelming having as much content as we get all at once, I can't imagine having even more on the same day. If anything I wish it was more spread out, especially with this community's habit of doing all the first week and then the PFs start to be rare after.
Everything they do is always about keeping subs, but people will do as they will.
As it's been noted, people feel overwhelmed when there's too much going on at once. (Look for Savage tier raiders to be happy with the opportunity to catch up on everything else before jumping into their weekly routine.)
It works in everyone's favor when things are spread like this. The team has less they need to potentially correct when content is spread. They also have more time to focus QA on what's been scheduled, so they can hopefully avoid corrections after patch. This means less downtime and more playtime.
That's kinda crazy to me. There are 6 other reflections of our world that can each be hugely unique and different to our own, and you think they should just ignore them all? In that case they may as well ignore all the other continents in eorzea too because we went to another continent in stormblood so doing it again with a different continent would be dull and redundant. At this point they literally can't do anything completely new in premise - we've had travelling the planet, betrayal, wars, killing god, travelling the universe, travelling to different dimensions and travelling through time- that covers basically all rough plot points available lol. So all they can do now is one of the above, but in a different way and with different plots and lore. Whether that be a new continent, a new war or a new shard is up to square, but none of it would be boring unless they're lazy or unimaginative about it.
What logic is this lol. If someone complain how we have little content right now, people will defend the game by saying "but do you do unreal? EX? Island sanctuary?? That's the content bro!"
By that logic, adding all those things in 6.2 instead of 6.25 isn't that much different. People will still get content, and they're free to choose which they're going to do first.
The knights are circling the wagons. People can't handle too big of a patch on patch day it is overwhelming, and oh no poor devs you even make MMO's bro. This community
At least the comment it is about cash. At least you can respect that and it is right. SE is into money making, and the devs facilitate that. It is a shame if something you are interested is moved to half patch. You could have been half a year between something you were really looking forwards to.
No matter how much content is added in a patch there will always be no lifers that blast through it in a day and then complain that there's no content.
Its ok.
Not everyone does all the content, and if the game is that boring you can always unsub and come back later.
6.2 brings something new of value to do every week. Whether that be savage raids or just the weekly weapon token from the normal version of 8th circle. New extreme trial. Entirely new gear tier - so there's a point to capping tomestones weekly. Island Sanctuary.
If your "thing" is the gear treadmill, every even number patch is huge and gives you something to do for months.
Well that's just blatantly incorrect. We'll have Savage next week, and then nothing until 6.25 comes out 2 months from now. And I find it rather convenient that they hold back the rest of the 6.2 content until half way through the sub period between main patches...
