When do we fly on the island?

I have searched and can't find this. What rank do we need to fly on the island?

Is there some big manual somewhere that talks about the ranks and benefits / feature unlocks?

The only information I've been able to get on the island so far is from people who are just as much in the dark as the rest of us. The only guides I've seen are basic "this is how you get there" level stuff.

I dunno, I heard that max rank people still can't fly and there's gathers I see that are only reachable by flying. I'm at 8 and still no dice

I'm more curious about why we need flying in content that is meant to be played super casually. At that point just invest in the granary and have the NPCs harvest for you so you don't even have to really leave the base, lol.

I have to wonder if we'll get flying at all. The transition between the home base and the gathering zone has that very long bendy tunnel that seems like it must be a concealed loading screen between the two. If that is the case, then maybe they can't let you fly freely at all.

There are more areas tho that are only and only accessible through flying.

You can get it btw. when you upgraded your whole island, i am lvl 10 and working on the last upgrade atm which takes 3k of the blue cowries.

When you upgrade your Pasture, and your Farm for the third and final time, you will unlock the Pastureworker and Cropworker tools, alongside this you will unlock the bestest mammet tools, and with this, you can speak with Pathfinder Mk. V, which will require the tool in addition to 3000 tokens, and then you can unlock flying alongside the final zone, which can seemingly be as early as Rank 9.

Given the cost in cowries it makes me wonder if it's even worth the bother to unlock

I was told that you access more areas as you rank up. I’m almost rank 6, so I’m excited to see this!

There's also an achievement to make 17000 cowries in one week from the workshops (5 days of workshops since they require 2 days off)
which would presumably be slightly difficult and require some planning similar to ocean fishing high scores

but if 17000 is "hard"
then earning 10000 to 12000 cowries a week is probably feasible at a more relaxed pace

Is it even possible to get that much? I got 2k from challenge log and I get a few hundred every day from the workshops, lol. I don't think I can get more than 5k/week.

Hmm, perhaps it needs loading time to block off parts of the home base that you haven't unlocked yet, so once you've got everything it isn't a problem any more?

Will take a good understanding of the supply and demand statistics plus a bit of luck but at max rank with 3 workshop running at full production with efficiency bonuses it should be possible. I doubt they would have added the achievement if they hadn't been able to earn it on their internal test servers.

How did you find out such wonderful information? I am ranked 8 and can see pathfinder mk v in red waiting for me to grind to 9. His little blue eyes are so cute I cannot deny his wishes ..... (runs off to grind nodes)

At rank 10 they should just let me build a trebuchet to throw myself across the island. I'd totally do it too.

Did this. Still couldn't fly. Or do you need to leave the island and then come back?

Flying unlocked at rank 10. I have everything max upgraded. It was not unlocked with the final zone unlocking and I had everything max upgraded prior to hitting Rank 10..
