When the lottery bug occured and displayed 0 as the winning number, all participants (including the actual winner), were told that they lost and had the option to withdraw their deposits. When the bug was fixed and the lottery servers' results were finally synced with the housing wards, some of the actual winners had already withdrawn their deposits - which of course, is a condition that normally can't occur. The conclusion of the first round of lottery had already been delayed over a month, and it just didn't make sense to delay it some more to ensure that gil was collected from every winner who had previously withdrawn their deposit. Instead they're implementing this NPC that allows those winners the option of returning their deposit in exchange for those posters.

From the wording of that announcement snippet, it seems that specifically only the people who withdrew their deposits then went on to get a free house will be able to benefit from this compensation. Out of all the people who were affected by the lottery bug, these people are the ones who were least negatively affected. What about the winners who diligently let their deposits sit while SE worked things out? Do they get any compensation for their honesty? And of course, the ones who got it worst were the ones who left their deposits in and did not go on to win a house. Their gil languished untouchable for over a month and no compensation for them.Quote:

Wonder how many players are going to pay 3 million plus to get a few wall posters that say "SE was willing to give me a free house but what I really wanted was these posters". No doubt a wealthy few would as long as the posters are an exclusive for those who beat the bug after getting a refund.
I don't know how this is seen on the JP side of things but it's definitely not good business on the NA side.

Thumbs up SE, reward people who won houses for free with the opportunity to get potentially exclusive posters by "paying" for their house (and potentially sell them to others for even more gil). I can only hope that these will be available to everyone as an apology from SE for such a bad housing system, but I won't hold my breath.

Really puzzled by the logic where the winners need to be compensated if they choose to pay for their house.
I can see the logic of giving people an incentive to hand over the gil, but a poster saying 'sorry' seems such a strange choice.
'We're sorry you won that mansion and so very sorry you have the choice of paying for it, we're really, really sorry...'
It's a pity they're not sorry for the people still trying to get a house. With record numbers of players, demolition off, wards still exclusively FC and not even a hint of more houses being added anytime soon, the lottery is an exercise in misery for most participants. -

All I see about this "voluntary return" is SE gives up dealing with the mess they created. This "free house" is clearly unfair to everyone, "voluntary return" feels like SE is passing the buck to players to deal with the unfairness.

Again, again, again, again, again, the NPC was specifically put in the game to allow people who were impacted by the bug to voluntarily pay for their plots. This NPC isn't there as a poster vendor who just so conveniently happens to sell them for the cost of plots.
Rich and lucky? What's your gil threshold for being rich in this game? 10 mil, 50 mil, 100 mil? Lucky? Yeah, having to wait all that time to take possession of my plot was really lucky. I'm sure everyone's jumping at the chance to go through that.
