Sounds like Dell or whoever makes their servers promised them an August delivery and then just didn't have the equipment ready.
Not really surprising. At my work everything we try to order for servers or switches are on long backorders.
which is a good and bad thing for square since typically when hardware isn't able to be delivered -- especially large orders such as servers and hardware meant for data centres -- they typically give something to apologize for the delay and/or make it slightly cheaper.
dunno if it would offset any potential losses for players sick of waiting in queues just to log in every night but august to nov isn't that big of a gap in terms of how long each expansion goes on for.
Not unexpected. Also not really a big deal, NA has been fine for a while now. I think the highest queue I've seen recently on Aether has been 30.
the short queues we have is not because the servers are full they are there to stabilize the servers more
Strangely enough, I seem never to have issues (more or less) ordering new Ubiquiti equipment. Not that it compares to server equipment a DC will use but still need dem little semiconductors.
But on that note, It's quite long delivery of order cars nowadays. First-world problems I guess.
This will only affect the next expansion for those servers. SE, your location is still bad for east coast player in NA. Give us east coast servers for near future if you want profit.I'm not recommended this game for peeps in real life due the frustration I'm dealing with the game and meanwhile, other games have the options. World Of Warcraft and Lost Ark have it why not Final Fantasy 14. This game is a solid Multiplayer and it making the money. I just don't understand they won't do it even it cost few millions to make triple profit.
With less than a month until the go live, and knowing how much most busineses will take to test and configure new production server equipment, I wouldn't be surprised if the maintenance on the 25th, that replaced some of the servers in NA, took away from the ones that were installed and undergoing testing for the 4 new NA worlds.
If so, those now need to be reordered, replaced, configured, and tested. 90 days for that seems about normal.Quote:
At the following time, we will be performing emergency maintenance on North America Data Center.
We will address an issue where server equipment has been affecting the entire North America data center and will have to replace server equipment. During this period, North America Data Center will be unavailable.
The number of worlds is kind of moot with the duty finder and travel. They are just taking the load off the login server and instance servers. If they could better design the login and instance servers we could have super servers. But that is probably not in this games life time.
Think we need more housing servers than actual DCs.
We're all over the place on what we use lol. The only consistent thing we have is our firewalls. Cisco switches are just on a forever backorder and seem impossible to get, but HP Arubas and Dell ON-OS switches are fairly easy to get ahold of. Dell servers are "fine" and refurbished ones are fairly easy to get, but anything else is kind of a "good luck" scenario atm.
And ya, cars are so in demand now that my 2021 trade in value is actually more than what I paid for it lmao. I've been honestly considering trading it in.
Meh, even if they did have east coast servers it wouldn't make that much of a difference given how the server tick rates work. That said, its not even remotely that bad. I'm in FL and my ping is around 80, its fine.
lol, by the time they get the servers, people will be going back to check out the new WoW expansion

There’s only 3 things to do in this game. Raid, m+, and pvp. Anything else is personal gain or a waste of time (looking at you, goblins and erpers). If you can’t participate in 1 of the 3 end game challenges, why are you playing?

And will be back again within a month once they've satisfied their curiosity. So far it sounds like the only interesting new content is the dragonriding and I can't see that as being enough incentive to keep playing WoW if the player is otherwise unhappy. Even the move back to an old school style talent system probably won't help as players pressure each other into using whatever ends up the recommended cookie cutter specs.
Those who have found they enjoy FFXIV will either stick with it or play both games. Those who decided they don't like FFXIV have probably already quit.
We still need the new servers to fill housing demand and decrease queue times for the 7.0 launch.
We noticed last night during P3S that the server itself was giving us a really hard time. We were dealing with micro pauses while the tanks tried to position birds (they just stopped moving, even before they started casting) and we kept failing DPS checks we'd cleared last week. We're used to one or two players getting impacted by bad snapshots, but not all 8 of us at the same time.
Nailed it. They are literally banking on this new feature to carry the entire expac. One in a long list of screwups.Quote:

WoW players are meta slaves.
I agree with you on the latter point but in terms of it being some solution for housing, I don't. Sure there will be a wave of people who go to make an alt/move their main over but there will still be people who want to stay in their original DC for friends, FC, whatever reasons that people want to not move.
A more accurate response will be: It will solve housing issues for whoever moves over but for those who choose to stay, you'll still be fighting 150 people over a personal plot.
Filling housing demand would be having instanced housing available.
Damn, I was looking forward to the new servers.
I wasn't trying to say it was a solution to the house supply problem though I clearly could have worded it better.
But it will help open up some houses on the existing worlds as their owners choose to transfer for the chance to get a medium or large or one of the more desirable small plots that they have little to no chance of getting on their current worlds. While that's not going to get everyone a house, at least the number still wanting one will be lower.
My lease ends in a year so I need to decide what to replace it with pretty soon when it’s one year delivery atm with whole Industry moving to EV.
Looking like I’ll get a PHEV since generally shorter lead time and yearly tax is very low compared to my current ICE SUV.
Not really surprising. They weren't giving us a lot of updates on it. I realize it's a server update and there's not a whole lot to say about it, but they'd definitely have been reminding us of it if it was coming along well.
Jojoya..in true Blizzard fashion, they have NERFED Soar, a key dragonflight ability.Quote:

The result is that Dracthyr have a drastic efficiency advantage over characters of other races when doing non-Dragon Isles content, whether that’s Chromie Time quests, clearing old raids for transmog, pet battling, etc.
They are in ALPHA and already starting with the nerf bat
The ONE redeeming factor for their new expac and they do THIS?Quote:
That’s the thing. No one was angry. There were no complaints about Soar being fast. Blizzard just did this on a whim.

Thats what they are aiming for. Whether it will be ready?
Who knows...
It feels rushed to me since their reveal event didn’t even show anything. Few screenshots of a new UI and announcing the new race, more or less.
Even if it can be launched in November or whenever, I have a feeling it going to be in a worse state than Shadowlands was at start.
The server infrastructure they use is high performance computing systems and they are more similar to current cluster super computers than normal data center hardware. It is no surprise that they are unable to source their hardware from traditional vendors such as Dell and HP. The biggest issue for them is going to be bandwidth between server nodes and that is most likely multiple 40 Gig connections. Because of this rare tech, we are going to have to wait. They used their cache on Japan and EU first, then we get the next batch but because of the wait, our hardware will be better and the methods to deploy will be more refined. Waiting is not a bad thing in this situation.
I have not found any information about their server hardware. :3 So we can only speculate. xD But getting x86 standard hardware is not difficult anymore. So i guess, they use something special. But i hope, that the do not use Itanium or Alpha architecture. :)
