I knew I should have double checked my Hotbars were orderly and intuitive before queuing up for the first time in months

I accidentally shirked the healer instead of Holy Shelltron during the tank buster and they died

Viel, and intervention and POA wasn't enough to keep the DPS alive for the whole fight

I ended up soloing the boss but I felt bad
Maybe I should have just repented with a quick death to be faster

I apologized multiple times and everyone said it was fine, we cleared anyway- but still...

It's very common to have a hard time after a break like this.
Sometimes, it's advised to make an easier content just to warm up for the big show, you know? xD

I use a macro for shirk that casts on slot 2... Did you have that too?

You are not alone. When I was learning to tank my friends tagged along with me. Thought I hit a cooldown but instantly realized I hit shirk and my healer friend ate the tankbuster.

We all wiped we were laughing so hard. You probably feel bad but I doubt anyone was actually upset. I know if it were me on healer I'd probably be laughing my butt off.

I hope you were using a target macro with some funny words to let the healer know they weren't tanking enough. XD

Which boss hits with a tankbuster early enough into the fight that you can shirk onto a healer and they'll actually get aggro? After 1 full combo it should be impossible.

I would never get away with this. I can't even disconnect/have my client crash and come back to a dungeon without people griefing me over it. People take those little accidents so personally, even though I apologize(and seriously, your Healer/Tank dcs and they come back, shouldn't you be thankful?).

Are you sure they died to the Shirk and not something else (for example if the tankbuster cleaves and they stood too close)? I ask because Shirk only transfers 25% of your Enmity, so it's actually quite difficult to kill a dps or healer with it.

It could be worse. You could have rescued the MT into your alliance when the first miniboss in Aglaia does its cleave buster. Of course, it would have been an accident, right?

This is why I don't run a duty with others when I go on a job that I haven't been on for a long while. I run a trust instead (or squadron if under 71), so if Urianger dies repeatedly because I 'accidentally' shirked him during a boss fight *cough* several times *cough*, no harm, no foul.

I was gonna say.. the only thing shirk lets me swap to is another tank. The rest of the party is usually leagues behind me on hate when I tank.

Don't think you can rescue people from other teams in allied raids so unless it's your team's tank, there's not a very good chance of it.

Shirk is only 25% of your current accumulated enmity transferred to your target. That alone won’t allow anybody in your party to steal aggro, let alone getting targeted by a tankbuster because you still have the remaining 75%.

You (as a tank) have to be virtually afk, not having stance up, or that healer was standing in the line of fire to get bustered, which made me think it’s most likely the healer’s fault to begin with.

I dont see how shirk would have done anything. By a minute in a woefully undergeared MT has a million enmity while a BiS healer spamming aoe heals in a full party only has a thousand. Tank stance gives like 100x enmity multiplier.

My shirk macro targets the second in the party list, which in a dungeon is the healer. I've shirked them once before by accident. They probably didn't notice because it was only 25% enmity and I still had the other 75%. The healer must have been producing a lot of enmity for the shirk to be successful.

As a healer main, as long as you explained it had been a while, then everything should have been fine if they didn't have a stick up their butt.

Once I got over the initial "WHY AM IN THE TARGET BAR" panic, I would have laughed my behind off. These little oopsies that show you're there with humans really make the run fun.

Yep, shirk is severely nerfed from SB when used on red or green dps. Like it's not sustainable, so unless tank didn't have tank stance or death(s) occured to reset aggro tables, someone wasn't doing their job correctly, and it wasn't the shirk.

Probably no provokes. I do miss the AoE provoke though, that would have been easy clean-up button here.

Uh...If I shirk literally anyone when I'm tanking and the person I'm shirking is anything else that isn't an OT...It's a wasted Shirk.

I can give 50% to the healer and they still won't top me on the aggro chart. Hell if I was able to shirk twice back to back I'd still probably be higher than the healer unless they were DPSing like a madman while simultaneously OverHealing me.

For Shirk to put the healer on top when you have tank stance on, they have to have been doing 7.5 times your damage output in damage, or healing 15~21 times your damage output times the number of enemies because of the way healing enmity works. That is to say, it doesn't happen.
