key Item Inventory - are 3 pages really necessary?

I have never filled even a single page, can we move the 2 extra pages over to actual inventory?

Be a huge QoL improvement.

It's partly an effect of the page-based layout of the inventory, and the slots don't really exist in the same way real inventory does, but I do suspect you could fill it up with a mix of effort and inventory creep.

You have permanent or semi-permanent things like the Wondrous Tails book and four hunt bills per expansion (two for ARR), and can still have the old aether compass taking up a slot even though it doesn't work. That's at least 20 items already, and the number will go up in later expansions.

You can have 30 quests active, which at least hypothetically could each have a set of three items to collect and hand to an NPC. That could be 90 slots taken.

That's 110 total items, and three pages is 105 slots.

Edit to add: due to the page format, you don't even need to fill three pages to need three pages. You just need to overflow the second page, so 71 items.

in all fairness, most peoples inventory could likely lose at least 40% of whats in it and they would never know its gone.

people store garbage, keep things they dont need, I am certainly in that category.

at the very least, having it the way it is forces packrats to winnow through their stash sometimes and lighten the load. I dont regard "key items" as actual inventory

Key item slots are likely a checklist, not an actual inventory with the potential to hold every single potential type of item in the game like your actual inventory.

Yep, to put it easier to vision, does the OP really think the Wanderous Tales book is really an "inventory item"? Cause it's obviously not!

what is the theoretical number of items you would have in there at once?

That is true, but in what reality is somebody going to fill 35+ slots of key items at once, i never have since 2013 and i doubt most people use more than 5-10 slots at any given time

Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it can't happen. They need to allow for it.

And key inventory slots aren't proper inventory slots anyway. They're not actually taking up space in the system like standard inventory does; the only thing you'd lose by reducing it is the illusion of more space being available. It can't be shifted over because there's nothing to shift.

I think this is correct. I remember people bringing this up a long time ago and Yoshi-P saying something along the lines of it not really being an inventory, and just looking like that for ease of use.

It being 3 pages is just a display thing.

Just looked at mine and it's only one page. :p

Reduce your inventory window settings down to single tab instead of partial or fully expanded. You will instantly see those extra inventory slots vanish.
