Housing - Round 4

Alright lads, post up your bids and the amount of people already bidding on it.

Let the odds be in our favor (not).

I gotta say.. the amount of meds/larges I'm seeing on my server with people WINNING BIDS and then not claiming it is pretty weird.

I guess the claim period is pretty short and susceptible to personal emergencies.. but.. wow people.

I think its people funneling a bid into someone, and if that person doesnt win then everyone else wont claim till the he finally wins the bid.

That.. is a VERY expensive way to get a house.

Guess it's the time of the week to log into the game again and try to win a reason to keep playing...

that or just trolls, place bid on house, win house, refuse to claim house rinse repeat so no one can own the house

I say this with all seriousness, if you've truly gotten to the stage where you don't want to play, then you have zero to lose by transferring to one of the two smaller servers on Materia (zurvan/bismarck) and being guaranteed one.

If you answer "I don't want to give up my friends" then that statement you made is false and just whinging.

Nah, housing would just be a band-aid on a larger wound with my problems with the game. I will probably put one more token lottery ticket in this week and then stop after that. I appreciate the offer but in all honesty I have been playing FF11 and been enjoying the hell out of that game and will probably let my sub money from FF14 move to FF11 for now.

I tried to bid on Mist small, probably losing again but whatever, my gils will come back anyways :)

Medium in Shiro which I bid on last week... But except instead of 150+ participants its now close to 400. If only FC housing wasnt a thing it would spread the load of people bidding.

Or you know.. not having any form of auction. Id only be competing vs like 10 people.

I think there's... 1 or 2 smalls left for personal on Jenova. Everything else is gone.

I've got a small so not entering. No point.

There is a return promotion running and that normally means demolition is close, and I still think that 6.2 will see a rebalance of the wards.

I did a rough count for the number of available plots on Cactuar for this round and had about 7 prior to round 4 starting, but I know there's another couple at the very least.

The numbers of bids from what I saw at a glance were around about what I expected from what I've kept track of during the last two rounds, with some of my notes below for reference for the state of Cactuar.

Round 2

Free Company - 863
Personal - 79
Total - 942

Round 3

Free Company - 689
Personal - 35
Total - 724

Along with a sample tally of a couple of plots from The Goblet and Mist. Didn't include Lavender Beds which was going between 35 and 75 bids per plot, in the end, similar numbers for Shirogane. (Link is to an Imgur screenshot of part of my spreadsheet I've been using to keep track of stuff out of curiosity, and I'm generally up to log numbers at midnight AEST).

Round 4, Day 1 Mist small plots had 44-50 something bids.
Round 4, Day 1 Goblet had 20-25 or something. The plot I put a bid on there has gone to about 59 when I checked about an hour ago.

I'm not getting my hopes up with getting a plot. It would be nice to be able to garden and hang out with my friends in the residential districts more so as we all enjoy visiting FC houses and apartments to check out the designs and saying hello to any familiar faces we spot.

That said, I do wish everyone else bidding good luck with getting their plots!

Thats why im okay with bidding.

This is exactly why instance housing is needed to prevent such drama.

I only wanted either Shirogane or Empyreum plot, doesn’t matter which size or class. Don’t think I remember seeing any remaining open plot(s) the last time I surveyed though, so I’m not bidding for any this round. I did spot an absurd amount of bidder vs actually available plots. Not even expunging the entire FC-owned plots would satisfy this demand when the supply of available house plots are a mere drop in the bucket.

Creating more wards or introduce instanced housing seems the only way to please as much players as possible.

There was a small private plot "open" in Empyreum for the past 3 turns. Apparently someone either trolled on that plot, or shenanigans. But for 3 rounds that plot was unclaimed.

All the large plots I was looking at are currently owned on my server. Really would've loved to have that large plot in Lavender Beds.

seeing 300+ people bidding on a lavender beds medium in hyperion, at this point this is just pure comedy to me

Can't obtain what doesn't exist, leviathan is out of larges.

Though the second of three lotteries I attempted I was #32, #33 won.

That's a total of 1,111 bids for personal smalls.

Compare to the numbers from the previous lottery period taken about the same time before the entry period closed:
smalls - 1093
mediums - 349
larges - 183
total 1625

My guess is most of the drop off is from players who already had a house and were looking to upgrade to a bigger one in the prior lottery but lacking any mediums or larges this time had no reason to enter.

Here's hoping that SE sees the absolutely ridiculous number of people bidding on plots (and thus how many people want a house but cannot get one) and start to make changes. It was kind of difficult to tell in the placard bot days, but now it's clear as day.

Entered in every lottery, first on meds, now on smalls, since that's all that's left available... Jenova is sparse but hey, at least there's only 273 entries on the lavender beds plot currently... 0.36% is good odds right? :confused:

Behemoth FC (Ishgard) plots are WIDE open.

Went and checked all 4 small plots that are currently open for entries:

Mists: 239 entries
Lavender Beds: 273 entries
Goblet: 222 entries
Empyreum: 238 entries

That puts Jenova at 972 bids on small plots. Based on the locations of all 4, it's unlikely that a majority of them are relocations (though of course not impossible). Aside from Empyreum, they're all varying levels of inconvenient, and I don't think I would classify any of them as highly desirable locations.

I opted for Lavender Beds because after playing the odds and going for least-popular plots in the past 3 lottos, I decided this time, since they were all going to be heinously high, I'd at least enter for the one I liked the most.... once you hit 200 entries, how much do more really matter?

Anywho, my FC mates and I decided to sit this one out. We wanted a large, and we ended up getting a medium for free from the botchery lottery. We feel we are already fortunate.

There's actually a small in Empyreum up. Last I checked it had around 248 bids on it lol. It opened up late the night before bidding started.

On Jenova I forgot to add.

That being said I was one of 260 on the small plot in Mists an hour or so ago. Please do something about this SE. At this rate it could be 5 years before any of us own even a small plot ><.

After losing 2/3 of the lotteries so far (only participated in 2) I decided to go small and bid on a small in the Empyreum. It's certainly better than nothing. Currently I'm the only bidder and, judging by every other small I have come across, I think I have a decent shot. I'm sure I'll still find a way to lose, but seeing as these plots are still available 4 cycles later...I'm fairly confident in my bid. Confident enough that I'm saving myself the trip and logging out right there in front of the placard. No one wants a small. I don't necessarily want one either, but I've gotta play the odds right, and bidding on random mediums with upwards of 50+ bids is not playing with good odds at all. This will probably be the only way I manage to get an Ishgard plot under the current system. Wtb instanced housing.

You are lucky there are smalls available. Even the medium at 50 bids has less bids than any small on my server. Last time the only medium had over 400 bids. This time there is only 10 small and one medium which was left unclaimed and it was at 200+ bids before yesterday. As for size, my preferred is medium but I’d take a small over a mansion.

Yeah, it's definitely a perk of not being on an insanely crowded server. It might not be what I want, but it is probably what I need. Again, better than nothing at all.
