How an Auction System could work.

As always, people are not satisfied with the current system, i still think it is a vast improvement to the previous plackard clicking system where a lot of people simply used a bot for it.
But let me explain my 'very well' thought out auction system i came up within the last few minutes.

Because it is now possible to get your Gil back at the housing placard, this could easily work.

So here is the concept:
This system will be an addition to the current lottery system and not replace it, houses will simply have an auction, or a lottery.

let us start with the starting bid on 1.000.000 Gil and the auction ends on a set timer from the old system, ~72 hours.

Every time a person bids on the house, the cost increases by 3% for the next bid.
This would result in 4.256.219 Gil after 50 bids, or 18.658.866 after 100 bids.
Yes, you would reach Gil cap eventually after 234 bids!

Every time someone places a bid, the timer must increase by 5 minutes to prevent last second bids and give players enough time to collect their money and bid again.

You also must get a notification on your screen or timers to see if you're still the highest bidder.

Upsides:
People who play the game a lot or for a long time accumulated a lot of gil and have a better chance to get the house they want.
This system will take out more gil from the economy.

Downsides:
?
Gold sellers?

anyway, just my thoughts.

You're never gonna convinced the entitled crybabies on the forums that this would fix the so-called "supply" issue. Either what you are suggesting or reverse (like we used to have) would fix the situation overnight.

Is this a serious suggestion?

I can see anyone involved in RMT rubbing their hands together in glee at the very thought. It wouldn't solve anything at all.

You would still get last minute bids, even if you make every additional bid increase the timer people would wait till the last day and last hour and start a bid war, and me being the clever little shit I am if I had gil to burn and assuming it allows you to increase your own bid every time someone ups it I would up it by 1 gil each time and make the bid war go for literal hours till everyone gives up. Even if you make the bar be you can only increase the bid in 100k intervals you would still get those people. It could essentially go on forever till you have two whales who are ARR rich duking it out and this is all ignoring Gold Sellers.

will not work , as said above the amount you must bid increses by 3% each time, you cant just add 1 gil.

Not just RMT paradise, but, quite a few people with multiple gilcaps exist. So, should a wild LB11/41 appear the first player to auction up to gilcap wins it outright. Placard clicking for the rich.

With your system, as they will never get a house, the unwashed and homeless poor (anyone with less than a gil cap) can just go live under Eulmore in a tent city. Make Archon Burgers for those living high above them.

If you wanna do it through auction then blind auction is the less toxic option. Deposit gil you want to pay for the plot, without knowing the bids of others, and if your bid is the highest at the end of cycle you win the plot.

Near the 230 bids people will hoard the placard to be the 234th bidder and you are back to the old system, except significantly higher costs.

Also, this system will make it impossible for most people to buy a house since only those with a lot of gil have a chance. Breaking the balance towards newer players.

This system is not a solution.

They instead could have simply made a much higher variety in costs for houses so large ones have 3 prices: 500m, 400m, 300m, medium go below that with 200m, 100m, 50m, and small ones go like 30m, 20m, 10m, 5m, and 3m. This price diffirence generaly makes the more expensive option better because less people will be within that range. There is no need for a relatively new player to be able to buy a large house fast. A small one would already do fine, even for FCs (for FCs it barely matters unless you are growing unions or other things for the entire FC, which basicly doesnt happen since selling it and keeping it for yourself is much more beneficial).

While it certainly would limit demand a little, don't forget that they made the new system as an effort to give everyone the same chance. An auction would favour rich players and make the 'having a house is a status symbol' even worse.

And the Gil sellers would have the time of their lives.

You can't wait for the last seconds because you dont know when the auction will end, the timer is just an estimate as it was with the old timer, maybe that was unclear.

And again, this is not a replacement, the lottery will still be in place, people with a lot of money will try the auction, and others can join the lottery.
and even if someone bids 999 million, at least the gil is out of the system.

This basically turns the lottery into an attrition of gold. Not to mention the aforementioned RMT nonsense people mentioned before. It's bad enough for anyone joining the game to try and get a house as is. Making it so someone might have to drop twice the price of a large on a small is insanity.

Auction system would never work, due to some people can outbid anybody, it would not be fair for all.
