Should the policies for keeping a plot be updated?

First of all! to start positive, congratz to all players who got a plot in round 2 of the new lottery system.

I see a lot of good threads and discussions on the new lottery system, and its good! Really hope Square sees it at some point, but i havent seen this yet.

Should the policies for keeping a plot getting an update? not all would love it in being afraid of loosing their plot, but there is such a high demant on private plots at the moment that its crazy, but i now that there is players, who dont really play the game at all, they log in for like, 2 minutes a month, just to keep their plot theirs and log of again.

Ofcourse, its fair, and free money to Square, but i think its a shame for both the plots, but also for the more active players who could bring more life to the plot, maybe even bring more life to a ward just by being more active.

Hopefully we hear more in the future about more wards or like the solo instance plots, it is a high demand from players after all to get themself a private home in the game.

what do people think of this? please be constructive in your responses and respect that Square cant be anywhere and bring any players their wishes, in the end, its still a wonderfull game they have made in the end.

Yes, but in the opposite direction than what you're getting at, so that Squeen wouldn't cause players to feel trapped in needing to sub just to keep the house.
Otherwise, further restrictions would likely cause more aggression in players for being even more walled off from being able to obtain and keep a house, without improving the actual housing experience, so I don't think placing additional caveats would be a good idea at all.

The current situation is probably about as good as it gets unless they release even more plots and outright remove the need for players to log on within a certain amount of time in order to keep their plots.

It's really hard to draw any fair lines when it comes to rules on housing. How do you decide how much effort is enough for retaining ownership? How do you decide what the proper length of away time is? It'd be so much better if we just increased the amount of plots and made the time you could spend away before your house got demolished more forgiving. FFXIV is supposed to be one of the best games out there for respecting a player's time but the housing system doesn't reflect that right now.

For start it would be nice if the demolition actually worked. The break blocks many houses. Then the lottery could be faster to speed up the process. For policy changes, I am of the opinion a housing tax would work the best. Players would have to earn certain amount of gil monthly and invest it in the house. This would make it more appealing to share houses, have FC houses to divide the cost, while decreasing demand and kinda making housing available to more players at cost of solo ownership.

The solution to the housing problem is not to make the system worse for everyone.

People who were grandfathered into the new one-house-per-account rule and allowed to keep their entire wards of houses should absolutely have their houses taken from them in a system where there's limited availability.

Updated how? How would you change the current parameters?

As you didn't put it there, I have to ask, in your opinion, what is a satisfactory minimum time to play (in hours per week) to be worthy of haus? 20 hours, 40 hours? Less than this and you lose it?

Absolutely! The rule should be 1 personal house and 1 FC house per person, and it should retroactively apply for everyone. If they have more than 1, they should need to choose their favorite one, and lose all the rest. Maybe give some Gil refund in that case, but still, all those plots must be freed!

Reading all these housing outcries had me think of this unusual train of thought regarding the old system vs this lotto system:
• Old System: ”I know it’s low chance, but as long as I’m trying & waste potentially 70 hours of my life vs other (auto)clickers, I’ll get mine eventually, right? RIGHT???”
• Lotto: ”Reee why there are so many players bidding for my house??? This isn’t faaiirrr!!”

(Like bruh, would people rather not see the number of bidders at all? I can’t believe I’m going to use this phrase for this case, but Istg numbers are scary.)

You just stop people from taking breaks from the game, something Yoshi P actually wants us to be able to do. I already have to set a reminder to redo my sub after x days of break if I am on a longer stint away from the game. I have had my house for years now, I earned it and I furnished it and will refurnish after I am done with my FC house. Frankly I hate there even being a demo timer though I understand WHY it is there, it sucks. I wanted instanced housing for years now. Sort it out SE and remove the demo timers.

The timers being paused for months now has been sweet relief, I can take a break without the worry of losing my house hanging over my head.

Why are so many suggestions, lets screw over x so that y can get this. Can we all plz just bitch and bitch until they add instanced plots alongside the wards? Yoshi P wants to keep the community feel, nothing says we cannot have wards and instanced houses. Nothing but dev refusal to do it.

About the only thing they can do is make an announcement about timer never being put on hold. Yes this seems heartless. But a big announcement going forward and Email notices would have to do. Some people abuse the timer on hold and are not affected by whatever put the timer on hold. It feels bad, but the whole situation is bad. Might as well be fair for everyone. And yes life happens to everyone. Just because someones life trouble is visible on social media for you to pretend to get behind. What about the people inflation has squeezed food or sub. Someone traumatized by the loss of a love one who can barely function day to day, or someone who had a house burn down and is struggling to put their life back together. They don't get a hold, but an earthquake happens and boom hold. It seems so unfair to randomize whose life gets special treatment.



On a less depressing note. Lots of MMOs have people that pay and login and do nothing. Who are you/we to judge how they get to enjoy the game?

I love how this housing controversy is like a little slice of real world politics in people no shit demanding a housing tax on high value land or wanting to institute communism and seize property for the masses.
