Quick Survey Question (If you guys have time to answer)

Hello! My name is Shinori, I am currently trying to collect data from FFXIV players for my Game Design Class haha if it is possible for you guys to participate and answer the following questions it would be a great help for my class!

Survey Questions:

What is your main character's level?

Have you helped any new players (Lvls 1-15) in any way throughout your time of play? (Y.N)

In what ways have you helped these new players? (ex. Explaining the rules of the game/Helping players with Dungeons or Monsters/Explaining how to navigate the interface of the game/Giving Advice or Tips n' Tricks/Offering Items/ OTHER if there are any other ways you've helped please list them as well!)

If there is anything else you'd like to say such as your experiences with helping new players and etc. Feel free to write it down!

Simply following the example set by other mentors who helped me when i started.

I'll typically make complete macro sets so they're quick and easy speed reading tips to watch out for regarding dungeons, raids, or alliance raids (unless they're fairly straight for; IE dodge stuff, don't die). And as these dungeons change over each patch, I'll rename and re-write them for players. I'll also ask the new players (who mention they're new in chat) if they'd like the spoiler version of the mechanics, or to go in blind and learn themselves

(5) Usually, what gender are these players that you've helped? (Majority Male/Majority Female/A Balance of Both/Other)
All genders. I don't typically ask them what they are. They're players in game, and that's it (to me).

Need moar macro slots in-game

Yes, but it was only one player

Helped with dungeons, explained mechs if needed, gave advice, helped with navigating the interface, gathered items for crafting, crafted better gear, helped meld materia to gear pieces, and also helped with ferrying them around on my mount as well

(5) Usually, what gender are these players that you've helped? (Majority Male/Majority Female/A Balance of Both/Other)

The player I helped was male, my hubby

4. Everything you’ve listed, especially giving advices & tips when promptly asked.
5. I never give any thought about their gender besides addressing them accordingly depending on their avatar’s, so I won’t know for sure.
6. I have my own set of rules when I decide if I want to assist another individual or not. But to keep it short & simple: majority of times I only help when people ask for my assistance, be it in form of tips/advices or other gestures.

Level 90 on my preferred classes, 81 on a bunch of others, and remainder between 30-50.

Helped asnwer questions on basic gameplay in NN (Novice Network), advice for how certain classes progress as they get more skills. Also sometimes given out free crafted gear and such.

Do you mean RL or in-game gender? Although TBH I couldn't answeer as I generally don't pay much attention to either the character or player's gender - only time character gender has come up when discussing gender locked glamor items.

I give advice and some tips on how to play a Job to the best of my knowlege if I see mistakes and can offer optimization.
I give Call outs during Trials to people who seem lost
If I happen to see a new player Dead or struggling against an enemy...as a Healer Main I lend some heals and a revive.

I see a pretty good amount of Males and Females, cant say if the Majority or one or the other.

Most appreciate the help and guidance, some are resistant for their own personal reasons. Cant be helped.

5) I don't care about that. And I don't care about everyone guessing that I'm a man, because I play with male character. I just call them by the gender of the character.

6) Vieras and Hrothgars need Hats and more hair. Help new player who choose viera and hrothgar and now are hatless and hairless.

Asking "what gender are the players that you've helped" makes me dubious about this entire exercise and what you are trying to write about.

You're either starting from a flawed premise – that people will check the real-world gender of a player before assisting them, and the other person will give that information – or you're actually after the gender of the character of the player they're helping, and/or you intend to write an essay about whether people only help players they're attracted to (in which case you've asked the wrong questions anyway) or only help people of the same/opposite gender to them.

Also, you're never going to get a properly random sample by posting on a forum for volunteers – much less when you expect them to publicly post personal information.

Whatever you're aiming for, you're going to get an unrepresentative answer – if you get anything beyond a lot of shrugs and "I just help people without paying attention to gender" responses.

Neither ask nor care, gender has no bearing on an RP based video game.

SQE need to suck it up and start banning eureka bots so people dont require 10+ people to boost them through the earlier zones.

Yea, you should probably do it with a Google forms or something else to get these answers in private.

It also helps a lot to have a better overview of the answers.

Man this "survey" really brings out the "I don't identify as" and "biological" people. And what is "other" for gender? Love getting grouped into "other" in a fun unspecified way. Like someone else said, this whole thing gives me bad vibes. Especially the public answer aspect.

Yeah, not sure why all the gender questions are needed but gives me some weird vibes. I don't know of any sane person who keeps track of the genders of random people in game.

I see no harm in the Gender Questions, but considering the Survey I guess I do wonder why they are relevant since they come up more then once.

Yes, I've had friends join the game that I've helped out.

Advice, tips, FC buffs, aiding in dungeons.

Since the gender questions have been removed, I won't bother answering them.
