Don't get me wrong, some lb3 still look amazing: DRG, NIN, DRK, SCH, to name a few. However, with the new jobs and the dev team increasing the level of their VFXs, some lb3 don't hold up as well as they used to. One could argue it's purely a matter of personal preference, but the difference between old jobs and new jobs lb3 really starting to show up with every new expansion and new jobs added.
For instance, why does LB3 on MCH still summon a giant turret when we got Automaton Queen ever since Shadowbringers? The summoning staff for the WHM LB3 is a homage to Aerith from original FF7 but if one were to look at the FF7 Remake, even Aerith skills received a glow-up with flower petals dancing in the wind during her Limit Break. Is it really worth to keep current WHM LB3 when even the new Holy 3 is more visually engaging?
MNK new skills look a lot more impactful than the job's Limit Break, much to the credit of referencing Tifa's new battle animations in FF7 Remake. Needless to say, it also doesn't hold a candle to the RPR's LB3 with how the character is delivering blows with its avatar, then fusing together to cleave and shatter the space like glass. What does MNK get?
I am also surprised PLD's Last Bastion exists when the job has been leaning more and more towards the idea of "holy knight of light" rather than a standard fantasy knight or Sultanate protector as the lore tells us. Plus the new PvP lb Phalanx looks more attuned to what the current PLD's job fantasy is than the PvE lb3.
And all of this only to name a few things that become increasingly "older" looking with every expansion. Yet it doesn't age like fine wine but rather feels like something that is struggling to keep up with the times.
Am I the only one who feels that way?:confused:

Summoner LB3 is the most "dated" one in my opinion. We summon demi-Bahamut as part of the standard rotation, so just channeling him for the LB3 feels weird.
I actually quite like Paladin LB3, one of my favourites personally, if you time and position it just right it looks like you're actually physically blocking the bosses big attack. -

I agree on the fact that "old" LB3 VFX start to feel really old. But what do you suggest ? I think that reworking only the "VFX" would kinda be a waste of time, and not worth it. Instead, reworking LB3 completely from scraps for old class seems a better option in my opinion.
For exemple the Paladin, Why does he build up a wall ? I don't remember Paladin being "builder"... Even the lvl 70 ability look wayyyyyyyy greater than that.
Some move may feel "inedaquate" or "Low level" due to the current skillset class have. Paladin isn't an exception on this one. -

PLD, WHM, MNK, and BLM use the original LBs for Tanks, Healers/BRD (in ARR BRD used the healer one - and yes, this DOES mean they could combat raise the party if the healers were down, saving from wipes!), Melee, and Casters, respectively. Like contrast AST where the starglobe rises into the sky then bursts into the constellations vs BLM's where the staff just vanishes, they get a magical staff to summon Meteor, then their weapon just kind of unshrinks/grows out of their hand.
And some are just a matter of individual taste. I love SMN joining with Bahamut to unleash a more minor, controlled version of the Calamity. It's like High Summoning Bahamut. On the other hand, I find NIN's to be way too many hand motions for what you get - a minor quibble, but it still bugs me. RDM's, on the other hand, I get the visual quibble and what they're going for...but my god, that stupid thing is blinding and tends to get people killed whenever it's used. The visual is just WAY too much.

Not sure what I would change or replace given that, as I realize everyone has those different preferences. You might hate the WHM one while I love it, for example. And you like NIN's while I dislike it. And if we COULD agree, I'm not sure we'd agree with what to change them TO.
Definitely a tricky thing.
I would say that, if there was a short list to change, I think most people would agree MNK and probably PLD are on said short list. But then again, some people like those, so... Would also be kinda funny if they left the old ones in the game for just classes (for people desperate to see them again they could do unsynced Ifrit and use them in Gpose there or something. :D) -

Personal wish would be a glamour system for LBs, from LB1 to LB3.
So on Samurai I could have some different versions of attacks for LB1 and LB2 where I use a katana, and then for LB3 I could have Hien's LB3 from Gymlit Dark.
All of these would just be glamour so function/damage is still the same, and could change just LB2 if I wanted to keep the old LB1 and LB3 versions.
Would let people customize how their LBs looks like. -

Yes, it does warrant unique animations. We see the dpser limit breaks a LOT because we use them during dungeons. -
