how i would do beastmaster

first beast master would limit job

Paladin/Dark knight/Gun Breaker/ Warrior: one beast master has done acheivement for these mount they would have access to tame the pet of same skin or mobs of they family

beast tribes that give animal mount: would give access to tame they mount as pets

there two approach to beast master pet one could doing first the gave the younger of full grown pet this star wars galaxies approach.

or they the ideal that warrior of light abilities allow her to commune with beast as expansion to her gifts. let go this aproach with animal usualy you have show your an alpha to tame them. so let say the beast master must low they pet health to 25% to them they use ability let called commune with the beasts

size base roles

first small animal are dps squrril to monkey are ranger dps* only pet allow in cities to reduce lag

large base beast like lion tiger bear drake are melee dps.

gaint beast are tank base like mammoth t-rex tritops* will shrink to fit in dungeons that beast master runs can't have a gaint beast fill up whole dungeon now can we.

AI is trick one what should be basic off i suggest it be basic off the Scion AI i think SE should make so Squardon could doing dungeon with the players in the dungeons you don't need a new AI system when you got your Squardon sit and collect dust use them instead make a whole new AI system to run with players in much need dungeon use the Squardons add some fancy achievement to get them all way past stormblood add heros character to fill the role when need like trust system or have you call them for duties and aid in trust or have so once you unlock heavenward and storm blood and other expansion you use Squardon in same dungeons

Limited job shtick needs to die a horrible death.

I cannot in good conscience support another drain on resources like Limited Jobs when other sectors of the game have been failing horribly in terms of gameplay - Blue Mage itself has been pushed to very low on the priority list in favor of other content and Beastmaster would inevitably suffer the same fate and become obsolete over time. The only way it will be viable long term is for it to exist as a full job.

How I would do Beastmaster:

Do you have a mount? The mount is now a Companion with a tech tree of abilities (like Chocobo, but only one role). Companions are now usable in dungeons and normal trials. Have fun.

I think having this as a real combat job would be preferable.

Melee dps using... dunno, a quarterstaff maybe, while sharing, dunno Rogue/ninja gear maybe? Looks workable.

I don't see the appeal of having that job taming special mount tho. We already has plenty for everyone,

For the tamable beasts, theycould be of various families where each beast family have a define role/skills/toolset. Specific beast within a family would be more for personal preferences/glam/look.

Besides basic combat skills, each family could provide some buffs (personal or group) associated with the beast family role.

They could also have one long recast strong skill or something in the same vein.

That pretty much sums up my views on what this job could be.

Non limited Beastmaster is never gonna happen guys. No more pet jobs. They learned their lesson with Summoner. Only hope of Beastmaster is if balance isn't an issue.

Limited Jobs are the best form of side content, no more Lord of Vermillion or stuff like that. I've got more use of out doing BLU savage than I have any other singular job class., and Masked Carnivale is 100 times more fun than Leap of Faith or Fishing. Why create minigames like Mahjong when you can have side content that involves combat?
We have 19 jobs now, adding one more is a 5% increase to available options for that content, adding another limited job is a 100% increase to available options for that content.

If not an actual job...the only way I see Beastmaster being any fun is if they did the same thing WoW did in which you can capture and train monsters to fight other PCs monsters a la Pokemon.

After seeing the travesty that is blue mage I'd rather they just not waste the time and resources then do more of that crap. There's no reason any job has to be a limited job.

For beastmaster you can just do it similar to taming pets as a hunter in WoW if they're uncreative. Even have your pet of choice be cosmetic if you have to-even that would be preferable to more limited job BS to me.

Nah, BLU gameplay has become something recurring expansion-wise. Whenever a level cap raise appears, you have new quests (noted that other jobs have job quests no more) that ties with one new Carnival stage. Then new skills to collect. Then new end-expansion dungeons/raids to tackle on.


BLU isn't mean for serious commitment, but a side activity. The only thing I think it should need now is a BLU-only duty finder.


Back to Beastmaster, I don't mind having it as another limited job, as long as it stays true to be a pet class where you have to pay attention to both your own and your pet's well-being. Not a stand-user/Persona-user class like Summoner.

Yeah I've suggested this too in the past and it makes too much sense to not be at least tried out. Nearly all the models used for mounts have corresponding battle/casting animations for their enemy types and could be used just fine in the Companion system. "But it's called Choco Cure", ok rename it to Pet Cure or Buddy Heal or some such thing. Add some actual teeth to the Tank and DPS trees and we could have ourselves some fun side content or at least more customization options for the actually dead content that is Companions.

...or make it a gatherer that facilitates acquisition of mats dropped by mobs. It can still have limited combat capability though.

Honestly, I am not sure the game needs any more jobs for the exact reason you stated. I feel it would be better to really start getting into the issues going on with the existing jobs.

The design for a "pet" class they could use would ironically be Reaper. Having there auto attack graphically be a tandem attack and have skills that the player character use and skills that the pet uses that fills a gauge and when that gauge is full either have a stronger Pet attack or stronger Tandem attacks. They wouldn't have had to worry about pet AI because the pet could technically be the weapon.

The main problem would be that the weapon, would the actually weapon have the flair, the pet have the flair, or both.

a- This game hates pet classes with a passion
b- Limited jobs are throwaway content at best, a complete waste at worst
c- There's already a collect monsters activity, kinda... as far as I know its not popular.

Honestly? I would like some sort of update to the "chocobo-as-companion" system. I'm almost surprised its still hanging on, I wonder if new people even know it exists (there's no way in hell they're redoing all the bardings for other animals tho)

Please, no more "limited jobs". Ever.

I'd rather not see a Job in FFXIV at all than to have it get the gimmicky-junk death-sentence that Blue Mage did.

If true pets are too much for FFXIV's engine to handle, just make Beastmaster pets work like a customizable Automaton Queen / Living Shadow. At the end of day, people mostly want to see their cool tamed animals running around... directly commanding them can be sacrificed from the design.

limit jobs are niche jobs they fun but their not for everyone but i believe if the right niche limit job come along i think people find the right niche limit job for them each limit jobs should apeal other niche bst should appeal to people like pet jobs.

it would not be that "difficult". As others have said, use the companion system as a base model. Have the job have its standard 123 and aoe rotation and a few other abilities and have the OGCD be the pet action commands. Shadowbringers summoner wasn't that bad in my opinion and having a carbuncle sit there and do nothing is one of my biggest gripes, along with the removal of the mch turrets. It seems like the devs feel like they have to create a "new and exciting" style of pet jobs, when I and Im sure others dont cant if its new and exciting as long as it works and is fun. Like they dont need to re-invent the wheel, just give us the wheel and make it sparkly.

BLU can be a normal job.

However, the devs may have chose the open world learning, over a level up system of spells earned at a certain level/levels.

Reason being, it would have made BLU a lightning rod. Players may show up to groups without certain spells.....Unless they do a spell check or something.

BLU was a terrible choice for a limited job, and a waste of resources when it could have been BST....

As for BST, it is way overdue....and is what BLU should have been. Just so A$$ backwards to make BLU a monster hunter job, instead of the actual monster hunting job.

FFXIV gets away with alot, due to the IP. Take the IP away, it is Neverwinter.

BST is a job they cant screw up....It is SE proof. I mean, what are you gonna do? Let us only charm rats lol?

Incorrect, they did a great job with BLU after it's lackluster release. They gave it a lot more content and things to do than if it were just another DPS job or whatever.
The extra stuff to do with it, plus the BLU-only raids are exceedingly fun and I look forward to the next limited job and what uniqueness it brings.

If they were to do a Beastmaster job. Basically have two routes they could take it with a highly unlikely third

1) limited job like blue mage but also super crazy can do everything with no real limitations like blue mage
2) Sort of like how summoner is except a melee job with some personal melee attacks and skills to order the pet to do special things and release bigger monsters for flashier cooldown skills. Perhaps main pets could be like fairies where it's a choose your favorite skin type of deal
3) the unlikely would be #2 but still have open world exclusive classic beastmaster stuff

It has always been a pretty cool job concept even when it's not implemented super well

That would work... but to me it would feel just like a visual band-aid for the fact that XIV can't handle pets as a primary focus.

And by pets I mean, secondary entities that you need to micromanage alongside your character. In any mmorpg that is basically what makes a "pet class" for me. I'm not sure how fulfilled I would be if the pets were just animations from attacks... Not mentioning the fact that, unless they would develop something brand new, would be very likely not customizable - and some sort of pet diversity is also a key point for a pet class in my eyes.

Stopped reading after "limit job".

I still think that Beastmaster should be added as a side job, probably doing something with the companion system to bring more life back into it, but that’s me.

How I would do it:

• Make it a full job
  
• All the beast types are just different skins/glamours for your pet. They would all have the exact same damage abilities with the same potencies, just with different names or animations for flavor purposes
  
• Allow you to use your beast mounts as your pet

This preserves the flavor of the job without introducing any balance concerns, such as with BLU
